- One Song Concert #52 is Flying Red Horse from my Out of the Valley CD. It's a song about what may happen if one of the flying red horses from the Mobil station should escape. I worry about these things and sometimes my worries turn into songs. This makes a full year of weekly One Song Concerts. I don't know when the next one will be, but I will be back. Thank you for watching and listening!

This song has always been one of my all time favorite songs! Love your voice John!
I have loved this song for years. Thank you for perfecting my Sunday morning.
John, thank you so very much for this addition to this series. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I used to sing a set of songs to our kids at bedtime when they were little and I always ended with this one. It made me cry then and it made me cry again today. Tears of appreciation and hope for the healthy development and independence of our children. They are in their mid and late twenties now and while we remain all very close they have developed in a healthy and independent way. You are a very important part of our lives. -Tom
John, your music has been healing my heart for a very long time. You truly are an inspiration and a gift to us all. Thank You so much for doing what you do. Cheers!
I know some of us have been saying we don’t need Greek mythology for around 2000 years. Why? Because we have troubadours of old like John who can lyric mythology in a modern world of steel and glass. Like who would put new wine in an old flask? Best time to move on to something new is now, thank you for that Mr. Gorka - if I see a penny I sometimes pick it up!
So many great songs come from the best of creative writing and this one is no exception.
Thanks, one of my favorite songs, you created a timeless gem with this one
A wondrous song.
NICE! This is one of my favorite John Gorka songs, (And I've got a lot of those from you John.........)
Thank you Ray!
Outstanding! Glad I found this channel. I sing a lot of your songs to our kids, John. The sound is great!
This and "Branching Out" are always on my playlist. Thanks for this gem, and many, many thanks for the beautiful gems this last year. You're more important than you can imagine
No day would be complete without listening to a lot of John Gorka. He takes me back to happier and hopeful and more naive days.
Thank you for this, and for your other 51 one song concerts. They have been a positive sustaining and comforting force this year. I an looking forward to seeing you in person this year. And I adore this song.
Beautiful John...I’m not a horse of course...but you’re hearing it right from my mouth! (Lori “ewww” Gross from the Mid-Hudson Valley)🙃💚
Ah, my Sunday just got a whole lot better. Such a favorite, thank you sir.
Ha! My user picture is a old Flying A sign, I took a picture in 1983 or so on US 15 north of Harrisburg, PA. Flying A was bought out by Mobil in time. Looking forward to seeing you when Covid is over in Maryland, DC area. Best, the Flying Red Horse
My second choice would be to escape on a flying red horse. My first choice would be a song from John Gorka.
Thank you...have loved this song for many years...so cool to see...
I see it is a crowd favorite and no wonder! Such a wonderful, fanciful song, this one! Thank you for bringing it out to play again today. Your songs always connect with me in meaningful ways and I thank you for all that you share.
Thank you for this! You are simply magnificent!
One of my favourites. We don't have that logo in the UK but can just imagine you seeing it on the wall and setting her free. Thank you
When I first heard the song I thought it was about an adult movie actress that had decided it was time to move on, but the more literal interpretation seems equally likely and I will defer to the author. :)
In any case, this is a song from the first John Gorka album that I bought (Out of the Valley . . . which I still rank among my ten best purchases ever) and which has grown on me over the years.
I remember driving home from Godfreys we’re year and I swear a saw that logo along the road. Was it my imagination? Can’t remember.
Out of the Valley was also my first - and then I bought the others :-) My first exposure to John was in Chicago where he opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter - and while she was good, John stole the show.
Just beautiful. Always soothes my soul. Thank you so much and hope to see you back in Central NY soon!
Bless you for sharing, one of your great old songs1❣

I meant You are the best!...lol
Thank you! A grand addition. I have played this on my own for years because of its kitschy comfort and quiet relatability, and now seeing it up close is a blessing. Cheers John.
