They advise you to, but it's not a must. I did. It was about R4000 and I exchanged it and got $215. Only used like $12 at the airport for food. The rest I spent when I got here💗

I exchanged it while I was in SA because you need $ to buy at the airport if you'll want to! I exchanged it at "Travelex" but you can do it at the bank too, or the airport I think!
