Geshema Degree and 2018 Geshema Exams

In August 2018, 46 Tibetan Buddhist nuns will take examinations for the Geshema degree, which is the female equivalent to the Geshe degree for monks. This is the highest degree in their tradition and is similar to a PhD in Tibetan Buddhism. The rigorous written and oral exams for the Geshema degree take four years to complete and the nuns are examined on all 17 years of study.
