- The Celestion Alnico Cream is one of our favourite speakers, it not only sounds great with a lot of the warmth alnico speker bring but at 90 Watts has a good power rating too.
In this shootout video we hear how the Alnico Cream sounds mix with 21 other speakers and then how it sounds directly against the same speakers
The speakers are Celestion Alnico Blue, Vintage 30, Century Vintage, G12-65 (Heritage not classic series), Alnico Cream, V type, H heritage 55Hz, Classic Lead 80, Alnico Gold, H heritage 75Hz, H creamback 75, G12H Redback, M creamback 65, H anniversary, M heritage, G12T-75, Neo Creamback, Alnico Ruby, Mystery Speaker, A Type, WGS Invader 50

Could listen to this all day….making the train ride right no so enjoyable.
Thanks mate.
Love the Alnico cream 90!
I love these 21 Spkr shootouts. Please do one featuring the Alnico Gold. Thanks!
Thanks Ian, we should have one of those. I'll try and dig it out.
Alnico gold is featured in this video...
Also good with the 55Hz Heritage G12H-30.
Yes! That Heritage 55Hz is the winner. Lucky for me, Weber makes an alnico, 16ohm 100 watt version of that speaker. Best of both worlds.
The H 55Hz i one of my favourites too, I love it with the Alnico cram too. Unfortunately we've not had a lot of Webers in, I'd like to get some more in for testing for sure.
@@ZillaCabs Ask them to send you some for testing and review. You guys are famous cab builders (One might surmise that they would want to be a part of your market). I live in Portland, Oregon and I've known of you for some time now. BTW, I thought the similarities between the Alnico Cream and the 55Hz were uncanny. Their graphs were almost identical outside of the slight bump in the mids to highs of the 55Hz (6:22 of the comparison video). I am going to point that out to Weber when ordering my next speakers.
Thanks for all the work. As a single speaker I prefer the 75 watt Creamback, V-type and British Invasion (in that order). The Alnico Cream is fantastic in its articulation but seems to accentuate a voice coil rattle when pushed , IMO
Great videos you guys are really helping me understand speakers wich will help me choose the right one for me thankyou. Also it will save alot of money lol..
0:21 Blue Alnico
0:28 M Greenback 25W
Thanks Cody
The 90 Alnico is the King of Celestion Speakers, I have them in my 85 watt '65 Fender Twin Reverb. I have the 150 watt Redbacks in my 50 watt EVH 5150 III EL34 2x12 combo amp, but after hearing your side-by-side, I am seriously considering getting the 90 watt Alnico Creambacks, or the 50 watt Alnico Golds, for my EVH combo.
I just put 2 Alnico Cream and 2 Alnico Gold in an old vintage Marshall 412 and it sounds stunning
2:01 Heritage G12m
1:11 CL80
1:26 Heritage H75
2:22 Ruby
great test!
0:50 Vintage 30
1:04 H55 Greenback
1:25 H75 Greenback
1:32 H Creamback
1:40 Redback
Now I need 21 speaker cabinets
😄
which one speaker didn't you like ;)
@@ZillaCabs 😂Maybe I can exclude 1 or 2 lol, in all seriousness each speaker can be really good for a certain situation. Thank you guys for put it these videos together!
would love to hear a heritage h55 and h75 in a cab together.
The Alnico Cream has a nasty, fizzy high end to my ears, and has a weird notched midrange. Too bad for me because I just bought one. The Blue sounds much better to me. I also like the V-Type quite a bit. Just bought one of those as well. Probably a better fit for my Marshall SV20H.
Great demo, thanks!
Dude, I thought I was alone. I have Alnico Creams in my cabs and none of them sound like this. There’s this really weird whistle/ringing sound in the one in this video, it sounds terrible. Have you heard this in other Alncio Creams?
@@cardbored_ I heard a bit of high end nasty in the one I recently sold, but nothing like in this demo. I thought it sounded great clean, but not what I was wanting to hear with distortion. I like the Blue a lot more, but that one doesn’t handle much power. I’m currently in love with the G12H Creamback. I have newer made in the UK ones. I avoided it for a long time because of the mixed reviews. Maybe they got better when they moved production to the UK, I don’t know, but it’s a really balanced, musical speaker to my ears. One of my favorite Celestions.
It doesn’t actually have that. All their recordings are likely with a 57 on the cone. In person the fizz isn’t there
It would be cool if you could overlay the FR of the two speakers when testing combinations.
I’m hearing this really weird whistle, whirly sound in the top end of the cream. It’s weird because I love that speaker and I have never heard mine sound like that. It almost sounds like there’s a tiny, flat, coin tweeter in parallel with the Alnico Cream. What is that? It doesn’t sound right. If you close your eyes and listen you can clearly hear it come on whenever it switches to the Alnico cream.
..I hear it too....
Thanks again
Are all speakers brand new, or are they different ages? Mic'ing the speakers makes a huge difference, as you can emphasis fizzy stuff on of your audio files. I've done a fair amount of listening to Celestion Alnico Cream video sound files and none sounded like this one. I own Celestion G-12 speakers and they sound nothing like the one in the video. I've read the Celestion Alnico Cream takes quite a while for the correct sound to settle in. I have one due here in a couple of days and look forward to pummeling it, to give it fair shake.
Hi,I would like to know if the 412cab consisting of two Alnico creams on top and two Redbacks on bottom is suitable for pairing with Wizard MC2?
I liked the 55Hz Heritage and the 70th Anniversary the most
Thank you for the video, @Zilla Cabs. What are your thoughts on a 4x12 with Alnico Creams? Thanks
Thanks Florin, 4x12s sound great with alnico creams, we are actually building a couple at the moment but they are costly.
Love the Creme have one in a 112 Orange Cab (sorry Zilla) that I run my Kemper Powerhead through. Used to use Vintage 30s but after getting the Creme I found Out I really don't like Vintage 30s. Expensive like twice the price of Vintage 30s but worth every penny in my opinion.
Nice,back to back,same riff.Very useful!
Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
The Cream with the Gold sound interesting together.
What's the deal with the mystery speaker? (apart from it being a mystery of course...)
It's a new speaker from Celestion but unfortunately it seems to be a mystery as to when it is being released ;) should be later in the year hopefully.
@@ZillaCabs Hempback
I like it with any Celestion H magnet speakers. Otherwise, too dark or dull.
I thought it sounded good with the G12H-30 Anniversary and the M65 Creamback, too.
This just goes to show that what you think will mix well isn't necessarily what will. They're all acceptable, but I like this with the various G12Hs, G12Ms and Neos, and the V-type continues to surprise. Once again, the G12-65 and Classic Lead 80 sound better on their own. The A type sounds like two different amps running in parallel.

Just great! And Cream Neo is like Alnico Cream without fizz. Could I add that I have one (two) new speaker comparisons out?
Curious what gain pedal are you using? Or is this just a cranked amp?
Can you disclose your testing methodologies? You know the G12-65s do not sound this dark when standing in front of the cabinet.
ZILLA CABS HAVE WAY WAY too many commercials!! Many more than other channels!!
Really? We don't get to set how many there are, just whether there are adds or not.
@@ZillaCabs yes FYI, I’ve never seen so many as in Zilla Cab videos, just FYI. Love the content though guys!
@@adam614ce I don't see any. I have YT Premium.
