You do a great job explaining and defining the lwa.
I just love watching your videos!! Your very respectful and extremely intelligent, you show that when your educating us about voodoo, and it's spirits!! God bless you!!
Bokor, comes from the west African culture of " Bo" or "O Bo". In Bénin, they are called Bokôtonon, or Bokônon, meaning "those of O Bo". I have a hard time with the definition of vodun that is passed around. Africans, more precisely, west Africans, didn't see themselves as practitioners of Vodun. Vodun simply means "the other -Vo, adun-force". Forces that exist in an other realm, invisible forces and life forces are all Vodun. So, saying that Vodun is a religion, is like saying Christianity can be called "angels". What is defined as Vodun actually has different layers
-Spirituality. Determined by the clan. As only those who are in existence anymore, can convey our prayers to Mawu (God) can relay your prayers to the supreme. Your ancestors and passed family members accomplish that.
-Culture and philosophy determine social interactions, view on life. How people led their lives and defined it. The various social commandements, are all integrated into that aspect.
-Occultism. The science of the occult is Obo. The mage of Obo are Bokôtonon, it is what you call Bokor in the US or Haïti. I think it is called Oboa in other parts of the Caribbeans. Bokônons summon some Voduns ...Sakpata, Dan, Ogou etc for their work.
A family representation of the passed ones is also called a Vodun. Vodun being just a generic term.
Europeans made an amalgam of all of that because their explanation of what they don't understand from another, was solely based on the references of their own society.
NOW....That was my introduction. My family name is MEHOU-LOKO. I am from Bénin. Vodun LOKO, that would become PAPA LOKO in the diaspora is the ASAYIN of my clan. That asayin hails from the kingdom of AJA TADO in Bénin. You have to understand that LOKO is represented by the African Kapok tree (C. pentandra var. guineensis). When king Ahôlouho the first past away that huge tree grew on his burial site. Seeds will later fall from that tree describing IFA patterns that could be deciphered. It bared messages from Ahôlouho to his descendants. Like Legba, Vodun LOKO is an oracle. It conveys messages from those who are in the realm of the dead to realm of the livings.
Thank you
Haitian Voudou very different than Benin system. Haitian Voudou always evolving and new spirits are being discovered.
Do you know much about hoodoo and where to get more info?
I love plants
Can you do a video on thr difference between Bokor and Houngan?
As a child I gave comfort to an injured bird, a black bird. As an adult, one was tied up, flopping on a fence, I set it free . Then I wanted a pet crow, there it was. I caught it ;its wing was damaged, attempts to repair it failed and I had it with me for almost five years. I must now have a new name..... for who I will follow... thanks to this.

Our ANCIENT ANCESTORS don't work outside the BLOODLINE
@@thedarkgoddesses4037 They obviously could do nothing to help your people. Even freedom came from the decisions of others. Bloodline... lol...
Now I realize when a man was about to strangle me, he said “ I am going to kill you now” . For a long time I thought my prayer” father do not let him kill me, do something, make the wind blow” as it blew..it calmed me..as I looked to the wind blowing the crop and in the back of my ear he whispered..” I can not kill you the spirits won’t let me” .. I thought it was Hadad the Jewish God for N. wind. Now I am thinking no it WAS PaPa Loka... ( No wonder I came to you. )
Great testimony !
