Thank you, Bishop Barron, that was 100% true and so uplifting. My Spiritual Director recommended that I watch your videos. I’m so glad I did.
I would like to share my story. I’m a Jewish convert to the Catholic Faith. I was converted by a dream on March 12, 1990. Prior to that, I had not been practicing any religion, and didn’t really believe in anything. I was very secular and worldly. (I went to college in the ‘60s. You can imagine.)
When I had that conversion experience, I was clobbered by the Holy Spirit. In an instant I was a totally changed person. I fell madly in love with my Messiah. I wrote in my diary that I felt like I had been “pumped full of helium gas.” All that day I was floating on clouds. That evening, I got on my knees and said, “Lord, I’m yours, body and soul, do whatever you want with me.” I asked Jesus to find me my church before Easter. For a month, I went to whatever church any acquaintance invited me. I enjoyed everything, but I knew I hadn’t found the right one yet.
Finally it was getting close to Easter. I had quickly gotten into the habit of constantly talking to the Lord. I knew He was listening, and He had all the power and all the love. I had found in the Bible, “Ask and you shall receive,” so I would ask Him for signs what to do next, because I was so afraid of doing my own will. He gave me everything I asked for. It was amazing.
Finally, the Lord led me to the Catholic Church. As soon as I parked in front of the church, I felt a supernatural peace come over me, and I knew I was home. It was Good Friday. I went in and sat in the very back pew. There was nobody in the church. After a little while, people started coming in, then there was a Good Friday service. I was thrilled. I went back there Easter Sunday morning, and it was awesome. After the Mass, I asked the priest for Baptism. He had to explain to me why we couldn’t just go down to the beach and baptize me in the ocean, right now! He made an appointment with me during the week and I talked his ear off for two hours, telling him everything the Lord had done for me in the space of a month. He listened with great patience. Then he told me, “You’ve received the gift of Faith.”
I started going to Daily Mass as soon as I found out there was such a thing. I read bags full of books, went to conferences, got involved with the Charismatic Renewal. I was on FIRE! After attending RCIA, I was received into the Church on August 22, 1991. I celebrate that anniversary with great gratitude every year.
A lot happened during those early years. It was a very exciting time in my life. The “honeymoon” lasted about six years. Every one of my prayers was answered, and I never had so much as a headache. After six years, I started having health challenges, and so on, but I understood, from all the reading I had been doing, that the Lord was asking me to carry my cross. I’m carrying it the best I can, by the grace of God.
I’ve had many blessings in my 33 years as a Catholic. I thank God every day for my Catholic Faith.

I really appreciated that the LOVE that is the Holy Spirit is what guides you in ORDERING your life. Galatians 5:22, "The fruits of the Holy Spirit" come from the love that is the Holy Spirit. Bishop Barron says that the Holy Spirit is the LOVE the Father and Son share. Beautiful.

I have lived for four years with an addict relative. They are ever so slowly understanding that their demands for absolute attention diminishes themselves. I have suffered at their hands which creates more suffering on them self. I am a practicing Catholic believing that patience can be effective. This is the Holy Spirit in us.

There is a film by an atheist called The Case for Christ, who delves into it. Its worth a watch if you have the time.

@@JohnScully-mq1ie Resurrection is a fantasyland term. The God delusion has you in its grip.
Incompetence is your God, having waited on the Jew' Messiah for 2000 years, indoctrinated by Roman literature.
" for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13.
You ignore the fact, not all of us can pretend prophesy & God exist. That is why Jesus Christ says, "Think not I come with peace, but sword" & believers make up stories to gloss over the fact they are avoided like the old woman with too many cats. It is amusing to hear the profound arrogance of someone knowing of God, as if He were known outside of fiction. The believer & the literate are separated by the vocabulary of fiction: Blasphemy, God, faith, prayer, prophet, scripture etc. Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I like asking believers how they can possibly think their faith is respectable, given Jesus said faith is worthless, since you can't expect obedience when ordering mountains to move? Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy".
"Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall". What is The Catholic faith? Organized crime, indoctrinating children with a fantasyland vocabulary? When men are free of religious notions they write, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy." "My sheep hear My voice" is the mindset of slavery. Once free of it, there are no suggestions we all travel better by having one foot in a stranger's fantasyland or Garden of Eden. A mind free of religious text is not tortured by pretending Divinity made Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel, having pasted their books on to them both. Those looking for the sign of a resurrection, are a vile, "Wicked Generation" seeking signs, led by "wolves in sheep's clothing". "The only sign is that of Jonah"; a believer murdered by other believers. Chained to the slavery of faith, they write: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13
One must be insanely arrogant to suggest knowing something of a God. It is by boldness, Moses became the world's worst navigator, by having one foot in some fantasyland. There is a fine line between fishing & standing on the shore, looking like an idiot. Fail to get the Jews to buy it for 2000 years & they should know who their Messiah is. Jesus is a fake, to immortalize the war against the Jews. Jesus Christ is crucified for all time in literature & the subjects of Rome are illiterate. Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy" & the joke is in the scriptures. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13
An improvement on your God & faith; would outlaw indoctrination & abuse of the vocabulary of fiction on children.

There is a lot of evidence that Mother Theresa was miserable. For example, she wrote
." . . this terrible sense of loss-this untold darkness-this loneliness-this continual longing for God-which gives me that pain deep down in my heart. -Darkness is such that I really do not see-neither with my mind nor with my reason. -The place of God in my soul is blank. -There is no God in me. -When the pain of longing is so great-I just long and long for God-and then it is that I feel-He does not want me-He is not there. -God does not want me. -Sometimes-I just hear my own heart cry out-“My God” and nothing else comes. -The torture and pain I can’t explain."
The fact that many catholic commentators today claim that she had a "joy" in her heart because of her supposed relationship with God is disingenuous and pathetic.

      @CryptoWarframe 2 місяці тому

@@markfultonorg Saint Theresa here is talking about the "God Void", also known as "the Night of the Faith"; Saint Theresa of Avila spoke deeply about this, along with many others.
Night of the Faith has been virtually and arguably a shared experience, tho with different depth and durations, of any great man of God and Saint. Even Saints known for their cheerfulness and simplicity, such as Francis of Assisi or Therese of Lisieux, experienced and testified it in their lives.
It's actually unrelated with what Bishop Barron was saying: people who met her aknowledged her joy, that's a shared experience by virtually anyone who met her.
That's because she chose, as many saints did, to walk the path through the Night of Faith hand in hand with God.
It's what we choose that defines us, not what we feel; we (believers) all experience distance and abandon by and from God in our lives, from time to time; it's how we choose to walk through it that speaks for our sanctity; to remain faithful and fruitful, generous and joyful even when God seems far from our life, that's fighting the good fight, that's running the run, that's being athletes of God.
Mother Theresa did it. The pain in her heart adds to the glory of God and the strength of her faith, it doesn't take away anything.

Without doubt there is a difference in how God displayed His omnipotence in the New and the Old Testament. The Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah were wiped from the face of the earth. Judgement performed whilst living rather than at the moment of death. If you apply human knowledge and reasoning to an incident, you’re understanding will probably differ from the mindset of your Creator. It’s like asking a kindergardener to reason quantum physics. We can study Theology, and the physiological mind but we’ll never arrive at full understanding. Faith is often described as believing what one does not see so to one day see what one believes. Don’t cut yourself off man, the alternative is not good.

    Who is the Holy Spirit?
God has no "triune nature": Jesus had NO IDEA of what a "triune God" is supposed to be! Jesus CLEARLY states and reiterates many times to be with the FATHER ONLY. FATHER AND SON, PERIOD. For ex. "...You will leave me ALONE. Yet, I am NOT ALONE because THE FATHER is with me." Thus, just the Father is with Jesus.
The "triune God" comes from a MISUNDERSTANDING of the gospels, the Holy Spirit is not a third person but THE FATHER ONCE AGAIN, as shown in the following:
Jesus receives the Holy Spirit at His baptism, the Holy Spirit is thus inside Him, but who is He? No problem, Jesus reveals who actually is inside Him: "the Father who DWELLS in me." Jesus even further specifies that ONLY THE FATHER is inside Him (see above), therefore the Holy Spirit must necessarily be the Father, i.e. it's just a different name for the same Father. Jesus confirms that the Holy Spirit actually is THE FATHER also in his sermon concerning the TWO blasphemies: if the first mentioned blasphemy is directed to the Son, the second one must necessarily be directed to the Father. However, you can see that also in this sermon the name "Holy Spirit" is used to identify the Father instead. If "Holy Spirit" is just a DIFFERENT name for the SAME Father, this of course implies that the Father must be "A SPIRIT"! That is fully confirmed by Jesus, who explicitly says that the Father is a Spirit (see Jn. 4:23,24). The Father is thus called "Father," "Holy Father" "Holy Spirit" by Jesus...equivalent names.
In fact God is transcendent, absent, and therefore does not "personally" perform His actions here on Earth or in heaven ("nobody has seen God at any time"). You can check it out in the gospels: you can see that there are NO actions directly performed by God. Rather, such actions are taken here by Him in his "form of Spirit", who is called "Holy" by Jesus. In this form the Father was responsible for Mary's pregnancy, helped Jesus on His journey in the wilderness, later also helped Him in speaking, later He was helping the apostles too. Jesus simply is together with that Spirit who is the Father, called "Holy Spirit". Period. I.e. no trinity exists. That Spirit of course comes from the absent God, the One who actually makes the God's decisions. In fact "being a spirit" means that NOBODY is here so that no decision can be made, the actions of the Spirit are taken by using the God's Power (actually existing here).

Not true, no trinity was revealed by Jesus: neither the Paraclete nor the Holy Spirit is a THIRD divine person. Jesus taught that God is made by the FATHER and the SON, 4 gospels long! The Comforter is not a third divine person: NOWHERE is Jesus in a trinity with Father and Comforter! "...You will leave me ALONE. Yet, I am NOT ALONE because THE FATHER is with me." Thus, just the Father is with Jesus, NOT THE COMFORTER. The Comforter is a spirit meant for the apostles only: Jesus "I will come to you" and the Father "the Spirit of your Father" will come - in the form of Spirits - to help them. Thus, no third person is there, NOWHERE. The Holy Spirit sent by God is the SAME GOD (almighty) in the form of a spirit, not a third person. The Spirit of God is God who is a spirit! JESUS IS ONLY WITH THAT SPIRIT WHO IS THE FATHER, you can figure it out from the gospels. No third person, no triune God, no trinity exists. Baptize... (a forged verse) refers to three NAMES, not persons! All apostles baptized in the NAME OF JESUS only. At Jesus baptism TWO divine persons were present: the Father in the form of a spirit (Holy Spirit) and Jesus. When you will die you will see NO TRINITY!!!! " "those who will BELIEVE in me through their word so that they all may be one, as you, FATHER, are in ME, and I in YOU. THEY also may be one in US..." (believers, FATHER and SON, no trinity is there, Jn.17:20,21). When will this trinity nonsense finally get to an end?

To donnaivy : Yes, very true... Jesus Christ reveals the Holy Trinity in particular in the Gospel of John. Holy Trinity is NOT an invention of the Church but a revelation of Jesus Christ. God bless You
