- A set of needlepoint sofas and chairs created by Lavinia, the 2nd Countess Spencer and her friends, have been in the Spencer family for over 230 years. Even though they’re in remarkable condition for their age, the time has come to give them a much needed restoration. We're planning to restore these treasured family heirlooms so they can be enjoyed for another 200 years and beyond.

I think it’s wonderful that the current countess Spencer has a love for the Spencer history. Earl Spencer must be so proud.
I second your reply.
i hope the next one is just as passionate
Incredible! We live in this fast throw away culture which is so bad for the environment, it’s just comforting to know that there are pieces of craft which have lasted centuries & still functional! Thank you for sharing this!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Something to cherish for the future generations of Spencers!
That needlework is so exquisite! What a wonderful memory of the past!
Wow! That is a life times work. I do needlepoint and just Wow!
Gorgeous. As an embroiderer and lacemaker I really look forward to seeing a post-restoration video later and hopefully some video of the whole process.
Wow! They're gorgeous! I can't believe they're so old. They really held up well. Beautiful!!!
We just dont have furniture like this anymore. Its amazing that furniture is still going strong
Very nice indeed!!!✝️❤️❤️
Absolutely stunning,I do needle point too but this is way better than mine by a mile.concidering how old it is it's survived very well indeed.Lovely that you & your family can still enjoy it. ❤️
Absolutely stunning! Cannot wait to see the full restoration completed in the future.
What an incredible channel ❤
How wonderful to have such priceless family heirlooms. I so enjoy watching these videos, Thank you for sharing.
What wonderful pieces! And the documentation makes them even more special. So glad you are taking on this project too.
❤️
Omg I love Spencer . Ex specialty Diana . Thank you to Charles. And you all of you .
Thank you
It's so amazing that the colors of the needlepoint itself haven't faded, even after all these centuries!
Wow! I love the needlepoint! So much talent!!! Beautiful ❤️!
Lady Spencer the furniture and needle point are magnificent; even in its present state. Good Luck on the restoration. My couch is from 1815, and it was restored Duncan Phyphe. I still had to have the legs fixed, so I know how careful you have to be with the people you hire to restore it. Thanks for sharing.
I am watching you and all the wonderful things about your home and family from Florida. We were stationed in England with the Air Force and I came to love so many things about England. It is really wonderful that you are sharing all these things with us and I am sure we all want to know everything that is going on. Your wonderful husband impressed me at the services for Princess Diana. I have followed anything about him and his family since. Thank you for being kind enough to share with us.
I was born a Spencer and my daughter is going to have a baby soon and we are trying so hard to get her to name the baby Lavinia. The Countess was beautiful and I think the name Lavinia is stunning! Not to mention we are Spencer's to begin with!
How beautiful those chairs are, timeless ❤
Love❤
Amazing! I love to do needlepoint and can see this work took many, many hours. It's stunning!
That is very pretty! And it must have taken her a year to finish this - I am guessing. Countess (?) Lavinia took on an ambitious project and did a great job. The portraits - so helpful to get a picture and impression of what they were like and how they lived, their likes and homelife. Quite enjoy the Spencer history and amazing how well it is preserved even today.
Yes, she was a countess. Countess consort, so the current Countess refers to her predecessor either as "Countess" or "Livinia."
I can just imagine the Countess sitting there chatting amongst her friends while needle pointing.
I can tell I'm a "fiber geek". I wanted very close up views of the stitch work pattern. I can almost feel the chair arms and the seat cushion sides.
This is so wonderful!! The embroidery is absolutely stunning. The delicate little intricate design is beautiful. Cannot wait to see them finished. When I toured Althorp, I was most fascinated by the China museum. I love my China! There was the most exquisite China in that room that I had never seen before. I believe it was a black and an orange color and had a Farm scenes. If you could do a show on that, I would love it! At the time I asked the tour guides about it, and they knew nothing about the China. Warm regards!
Amazing. And that they are still so beautiful is incredible.
I love what you are doing to get this Needle Point restored .. Another link to the past , Hope my Needle work last at least half that time , And having a written History of Countess Spencer actually doing this , I think you need to have all these restoration works put into a Book..
Please, please, 🙏 please update us with the restoration of this! I would love to see them looking great again.
Beautiful! I hope you take us along on the restoration process!
Oh my goodness, aren’t they just beautiful. True treasures!
I think it’s wonderful that the current countess Spencer has a love for the Spencer history. Earl Spencer must be so proud.
