Definitely not worth it to upgrade,very minor upgrade,or not really even. I am a note user/fan and i am actually glad that there is no note 21 this year, cos probably i wouldn't be able to resist and i would upgrade to note 21. Well now i can enjoy my note 20 ultra for another year cos its a great phone, and i am saving some cash

I have the Note 20U and absolutely love it. Was thinking about switching to the S21U but the lack of a SD card and the fact that they are so close in taking pictures ... I’ll just stick with what I got and see what they do with the Note next year. Great comparison video

the 3x is what makes me want s21u. I had to move a distance of almost 10metera on 5x note20u to get the video frame. I don't prefer cropped main lense quality is sucks. but if i get s21u+S-pen case it'll be wider inside my pocket. So yeah stick with my note20u

If you have the S10/S20, the S21U is a great upgrade. If you have the N20U I'd keep it.
I have the s20 ultra and I don't think the s21 ultra is a big upgrade, obviously there are improvements but not enough to justify the upgrade.
@Killua Izecson I use the snapdragon variant of the s20U so still a very capable device, I love it.

Note 20 and s20u use same sensors. So wouldn't be worth upgrading from either of those phones.

I went from galaxy s7 edge to note 20 ultra 512gb.
The S21 Ultra has same sensor size as Note 20 Ultra but the S21 Ultra has a wider plane of focus. How you ask? The S21 Ultra's main sensor lens is of a wider focal length! Clever way to make the depth of field wider!

Samsung just dropped a new camera update for the note 20 ultra this update changed a lot of things now it s capable of shooting 4k 60 on all lenses an improved night mode + portrait mode and stability maybe Dynamic range is better with this new update not sure but its a huge update of 1gb i wish u do another camera comparison between the 2 ty danny

I have an S9+ and I love this phone a lot, its time to upgrade and definitely conflicted this makes me lean towards the Note Ultra, I've had the Note 2 and 4, which I loved, and had the S7 before switching to the S9+. How is the battery life between the two. Which fares better with heavy usage?

Re upgrading, its pretty simple. If you're on a snapdragon Note 20U, no need to upgrade. If you're on an exynos Note 20U, then the improvements in battery and performance are worth it.

Some people literally upgrade every phone so yeah 6 months is about right. We all know this isn’t necessary but it’s the world we live in where we always want the latest and greatest. I just want to show people if it’s actually worth upgrading to or not.

Very good comparison!! Not much of difference that can be adjusted on the Note 20 Ultra. The Spen, MicroSD card and wider screen makes up big time for me. My Note 20 Ultra is still on Android 10 with OneUI 2.5 because I prefer it. I've heard that Samsung removed the "Advanced" feature that allows to increase sharpness on the pics when editing, is that true? The only thing that would make me update it is if Samsung brings the focus enhancer to Note 20 Ultra.

Turn scene optimizer off. I find that when you turn it off on the s21 ultra the pictures are sharper

@@aziaone hm just kind of, night portrait only works when on 1x, and it has to be quite dark to activate. But 2x is more detailed overall than before
I got night mode portrait with the latest update on my Note 20 Ultra.
Samsung took away the sunset mode. I really liked the sunset mode. Would to see Samsung would bring it back.

You forgot to mention that even though the 21 ultra can record 60 fps in 4k for every lens, you can't change the lens once you start recording.

Jokes aside, they are indeed almost similar! (That N10U hybride x10 zoom is insane!) but yeah Samsung is showing its best skills with the S21U, maybe the best smartphone camera out there, besides a lot of features that suit for creativity 😃

Yes, you need! especially if you can get a exynos version. The amigo system is amazing! My phone drops 0% to 1% battery over whole night! And last whole day with only 40% battery!
honestly ive owned too many phones and all flagships are amazing at the time but with the s21 ultra this time its amazing on another level...i will upgrade to the s23 as it will have 2nd gen amd gpu and 30x optical

If you dont have note20u already, buy the s21 Ultra. It has slightly better camera overall. But anyone already having note20u doesnt need to upgrade.

Note 20 Ultra just received a major camera update around 1gb in march 3 days ago that include night portrait and other big improvement. It is clear at this time of this video comparision you did not have the latest camera update.

True but they can work the software since it does have a better minimum focusing distance. Might not be the exact same but it would fix a lot of the fringing issues.

So... nobody is gonna say this but... was Dxomark actually right? lmao.The S21 doesn't do much better than its predecessors and in some cases it does worse? Did not expect that.
I wouldn't say DXO was right completely. It is a MUCH Better camera than the S20 Ultra. The Note 20 Ultra is not even 6 months apart so that just shows how dedicated Samsung is updating the cameras in older phones. This is the difference now. Before when camera software wasn't updated the differences were larger. I would say Daytime results were significantly better on the S21 Ultra but low light was a much closer battle than I thought.
I think the truth is somewhere in between? The s21U was raved by the YT community and expectations were inflated, the reality is that it basically corrects stuff that were issues with the s20U. It still has bad shutter lag and loses detail, more so on the Exynos version and in low-light it is underwhelming. If you do not use zoom much then the s21U is not that special and in fact I expect many better camera phones this year. For $1200 it is unremarkable and not the game changer that promo YT creators maintain. Give me a P50 Pro or the Mi11 Ultra when they arrive and I expect much from the Xperia 1 MK3 as well as the next iPhone and the OP9P. For most of us that have little desire to take moon shots or do creepy zoom peeping then the s21U is a good camera phone, but ignore the bluster from the fans and affiliated Samsung YT channels, it is nothing special.

Well this is why I do these videos after the updates. I only show the images and give people the real results that consumers can see. Camera leaps just aren’t happening right now because all the cameras are just so damn good already.
The DXO Mark people's scores are flawed. They did not use the native zoom of the s21 ultra and gave the phone bad scores because of it. Those were the only bad scores actually. They tested at 2X & 5X Zoom for example where the native zoom is at 3X and 10X for the Ultra.

Please also do a video on Galaxy S21 Ultra vs Galaxy S20 Ultra camera comparison after updates. Some features of S21 ultra are also now in S20 Ultra such as zoom stabilizer at 30x-100x, object eraser, night mode portrait and portrait effects. Night mode has also improved.

So glad they updated the already great camera of the note 20 ultra. So many similarities and Closer in comparison. However I love my S21 Ultra. It's got the latest hardware and slightly better capabilities and it will only get better with updates. Plus it now uses the S pen making it harder to beat. Looking forward to the 2022 .
I don't have either, here in Canada there both very expensive phones, I would get the S21 Ultra though as it's $200 cheaper.

Hello Danny, thanks for this test comparison. I have an S21 Ultra and noticed how much distortion there is when shooting videos and walking. Not sure if everyone else experienced this and I understand ultra wide lenses produce this effect. I shot some footage in Central Park NY while walking. To my surprise the footage looks almost as if it is constantly being bended and then put back the way it should be. Background building (even far constantly change shape) and anything caught on camera has weird distortions. This test I did was in video pro mode, 24 fps 4K. I wonder if you experienced something similar (it seems from your review the S21 stabilization is not better than the S20 Ultra). Is there something I am doing wrong or is that what to expect when using the S21 camera?
Could be the 24fps stabilization. I used 30fps in my video on Auto mode.

With no Note this year it's possible that every single camera feature on the 21 Ultra that doesn't have anything to do with new hardware will eventually come to my beloved Note 20 Ultra. Also I'd love to see the 120 hertz at QHd come to the Note 20 Ultra.
(1) Focus Enhancer mode for Macro Shots won't be possible on the Note 20 Ultra because the 12mp ultrawide sensor of the Note 20 Ultra does not use a DualPixel sensor layout.
I love my note but the fact that macro camera is so blurry drives me nuts. Hence I'm seriously contemplating switching to s21 ultra even though I love the note20 design more.
@@rick_amsterdam to be honest this was a tough choice for me too as I have been a note loyalist, from the note 2 to the note 9 ---- considering all the choices, note 20 ultra was my best bet for upgrade, until this s21 ultra broke the camera game -- and in the end i went for the s21 ultra 512gb (sadly no more sd cards and samsung pay MST features)
