The way this story is told makes it better than most mysteries! Loved it! TY!
YW!!
It’s the Dr Crippen story. Alfred Hitchcock was fascinated by this gruesome true crime story which occurred in England. Funny to see his daughter Pat Hitchcock play the lover in this show loosely based on the story.
i actually enjoy all episodes of suspense. very well done storys. suspense won awards. modern photography was one for the good camera work.great show.
I appreciate you uploading this show, thank you ✨
You're welcome! Glad you appreciate it.
That was the strangest game of dominoes I've ever seen 😏
Love how the camera just zoomed into his wife's face like that, her smug laugh of 'gotcha' for him. Then we don't see her and 'gotcha' for us the viewers lol
1949, the year I was born. Fascinating.
Me too. But it says it aired in 1952
I was born 1989. I'm 30.
I, too!
Unexpected history lesson 22:40 cool!
Patricia Hitchcock played Esther, not Doris Roberts.
Which one is Doris Roberts
doris Roberts was not in this episode, pat Hitchcock was.
lianne mettam Doris Roberts came in at 3:10.
Hey SUS, Billy here, I finally figured out what I want from Auotolite.
Operator 25. Sorry.
Autolite was a stand alone company until it was acquired by Ford Motor Company in 1961...
Staring Doris Roberts is an enormous stretch since her role is listed as “woman” and the episode is from 1952 not 49. Not a big deal just a little clarity I get the reason the year is listed and the Doris Roberts reference.
It's still 15 years earlier than her first on-screen appearance I knew about, as the hotel maid in BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
isnt he sorta robbing the cradle? with alfred hitchcocks daughter?
Thomas Mitchell very distinguished actor. "Gone With the Wind" etc.
Thanks - wish I could tolerate the awful music for the casts are fine. I would mention Thomas Mitchell before doors Roberts, but that's my era.
Doris Roberts is the woman dancing around in the background at the party in the beginning.
They have all the names wrong on these shows. It is right here when it comes plays - how hard is it to get it right?
Esther is Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, Patricia.
Where is Doris Roberts in this movie, please?
Thank you
+OurHumbleLife Roberts is credited only as "Woman" on IMDB. My guess is she is the third woman in the opening party scene, standing behind the seated Esther and sharing a toast with a man.
Mike Stidham
Thank you :)
+OurHumbleLife The lady with the strange look on her face at 2:43 looks awfully much like Doris..
m perkins That girl sitting down is Patricia Hitchcock; I recognize her from "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". (She looks like her dad)
I think Doris is the dark haired woman _behind_ Patricia.
Thanks :)
Thanks! I realized after a few minutes that it wasn't Doris.. hard to find any old pics of her.
Will The Other Lost TV Episodes Of Suspense From 1949-1954 Ever Be Found In Kineoscope Versions?
That is indeed keeping us ALL In suspense!
BAD background music.
Yes but remember these are 60 yrs old and back then many shows used music that was overpowering at certain parts. I'm just glad I'm able to watch some of these lost gems I had no idea even existed :)
Why do they play that noise?
Are they afraid we'll fall asleep?
It's one guy playing an organ. Show a little perspective.
this story is based on dr. crippen
i believe doris is playing miss stone, she did say she had a lisp
The year IS WRONG !! This was first broadcast in 1952 - not 1949 as falsely advertised ! It even SAYS SO in the description so WHY THE HELL is the title "Suspense1949 " ???
You figure-it-out. The year in the title IS correct!!
Well I LOOKED IT UP and the year is NOT correct for this episode ! Like I said the description is RIGHT - it was first aired in 1952 . The year in the title indicates the FIRST YEAR THE SERIES WAS ON TV - the series ran from 1949 to 1954 .@@Suspense1949
The Bambino calm the hell down
It may have been written and/or produced in 49 and aired in 52.
Suspense was telecast LIVE.
The records show that this episode was done LIVE in 1952.
A filmed show might have sat on the shelf for four years, but TV tech wasn't advanced enough at that time to delay any show for that long.
Shes barely in it 😢
