Holy moly. I served in Afghanistan in OEF 12.1 with the Asian guy at the end of this video who was at the front of the formation. He's the one with seven ribbons on. I thought about reenlisting and was going through UA-cam to see what branches had the most challenging officer course and I guess this is a sign. Will have to connect with a Marines recruiting station to get started on the process.
The tough thing about OCS is that the Sgt Instructors throw a lot of stuff at the candidates, the curriculum is the stress monster. As a Prior successful Drill Instructor and Sgt Instructor, I have to say Enlisted boot camp is tougher.
Man, you just don't know on I'am so blessed to hear USMC IS ON TRACT IN THE MODIVATION OF OUR YOUNG MAN and WOMEN of today. Yes we must be 'ready', but its so deep Men & Women Marines being in support of one another !! I want you to know I was trying to be a Marine/Navy Chaplain for the Marines Corps and ran into a problem with the Seminary I was going to, and still this day l have not gotten over it. 💔 no one understood that I wanted to work/minister to the Marines. So you Navy/Marine Chaplains, stay on the battlefield in your Ministering to our Marines. Who am I, a nobody trying to help sobody see 'Jesus' who is the author and 'Finisher of 'our' Faith'. I do not want leave out our Navy/Marine, Aviators........Semper Fidelis........Min. T.L.W.
Was thinking about going officer, ex-marine father wants me to do it too, but college just isn’t for me, and enlisted feels like home. I do agree in the long run, officer is probably the better route to go, but my heart is just set on enlisted. Any comments that will help me sleep at night haha?
Out of college myself, considering Officer, what I can say is that officer is better from what I can tell. Better pay, more respect, and leadership development.
+Zane Powless I am an enlisted Guard soldier myself, looking at the same thing. My understanding is that you have to 1) get in contact with an Officer Selection Officer (OSO) in your area...google it...2) if you're more than 6 months from ETS, obtain a DD Form 368, which is a Conditional Release form. The OSO will initiate this on his end and you will submit it to your command...3) do whatever you have to do to become a PT God...4) be persistent, hurry up, and wait! That 368 will take forever, and has to be signed off on by an Adjutant General (O-7). Yeah, its a long slog. But it is what it is. Best of luck to you, troop. Maybe I'll see you at OCS and we'll bless up as priors.
Daniel Adams I hear very few are selected to do so. Your best bet is to wrap up your enlistment, get out, and knock out a college education as fast as possible. You'll be on the GI bill and receive BAH while you attend school. As long as you're cleared of any disabilities, didn't get NJPd, didn't get any tattoos that violate regulations etc. you have a decent chance of getting back in as an officer. Take those four to three years that it takes to get your degree as a break. It will give you time to analyze your decision too.
It's better to utilize your G.I Bill and get a Bachelors degree. And I agreed with you, disabilities are automatic disqualification. But having NJP for minor reason is not a show stopper, only tattoos that are not grandfather (meaning not cover by policy) will be another show stopper. Semper Fi SSgt. To think that someone, living in Australia, tried to spam me with this 4⭐General. Sorry Sir, the a/c has now been suspended. My apologies for having to find you to see if you really existed. Blessings to you and your family.
Officer Candidate School. It’s the Marine Corps way of introducing people that want to be officers to the Marine Corps, as well as seeing if they have what it takes to be a officer. It’s not called Boot Camp, but it’s technically the officers form of enlisted Boot Camp. It lasts about 13 weeks in Quantiico, VA. TBS, aka The Basic School, is after OCS, where these new Marine Officers go through 6 months of training to lead a platoon of Marines in combat operations. No matter what job each Lieutenant gets assigned during TBS (based on their performance), they must go through TBS before going to their MOS school. Even if they are infantry officers. TBS is at Quantico as well.
average man you’d have to go through the naval academy, in there you will be able to connect with marines on the yard who will help set you up for the marine options

+IsaiahBomb Enlisted Marines can transition to officer after they have spent one year in the Marine Corps, as long as they have their bachelor's degree. There are also programs to help enlisted Marines go to college and return as an officer in the Corps.

Good Luck Sir!

The quigley in the body of water and muck, the candidates are wading through in the video.
Sort of refreshing on a hot day, but I was sick as hell the next morning.
Had a fellow buddy with the last name "Quigley"... the trauma he endured regarding "The Quigley"... priceless.
My son served Marine Corps for eight years and he won many awards and scholarships and now days he is a Civil Ingenier .Thanks to US.Marines Corps.

What's with the handshaking? I never shook hands with any of my instructors.
+kasanchez77 yea when did they start shaking hands?
That would have been after the medal of honor run for the EGA ceremony. My platoon was not filmed but we did the Quigley!
Just a quick question for those who could help me... Is there a college like Westpoint for Marines officers?
@Jacub81 whats OCS?
