That was the golden age of Hot Rod racing; Lee, Polley, Collard etc. The speed and sophistication of the cars at the time was much more suitable for the tracks allowing close, fast racing and overtaking. Todays' National Hot Rods are too fast, too sophisticated and have shorter braking distances so overtaking is a rarity and it's follow the leader.
