Not an easy task to make a room warm and inviting when there's no color allowed, but I think you pulled it off very nicely, and your sister was obviously happy with the result. Well done.
I hate that we now live in a world where it’s almost like we have to appeal to and appease everyone, and everyone feels they deserve input into everything. Honestly, I don’t know how influencers do it. I would imagine it has the possibility to destroy confidence and increase indecision. I hope it does not drive you too crazy. You are growing and learning!

After working in a call center for four years I'm very much over trying to make everyone happy and caring about what people think of me. I used to be a massive people pleaser and I used to care SO MUCH what people thought. I am going to start a UA-cam channel hopefully in the next couple months and I'm now confident I'll have the same attitude Alexandra has. I think most people learn to not care. For those who get hurt it's so upsetting. Like you, I hate that everyone feels they deserve input into everything. They don't. As for me I don't live that way. If I don't have something nice to say I don't say anything at all. It's a great way to live. It's a shame so many people don't do it. But as for you, Julia... The world needs more kind and compassionate people like you. 💖 💖 💖
Sorry Julia, but that kind of view of "I hate that we now live in a world where it’s almost like we have to appeal to and appease everyone" is very negative and untrue. ..and also is claiming that we are selfish. Blechhh. "Our world" is bigger than your perception.
@@trishpipkins Who taught you that you had to make everyone happy? It is unrealistic. You don't have that much "super powers" to do that. As far as caring So MUCH what people thought of you consider this mantra to start using: It's none of MY business what YOU think of ME.
We are all given the choice on what we focus on...if we believe we have no say and stay stuck in the blame-shame game then it's a fail before it even begins. It doesn't mean it's not difficult to learn and manage, it just means that fault has been dropped and responsibility has been picked up. Hope that makes some sense!!!!

The intro 💀💀💀 This is such a great example of how textures can just really elevate a room. I really love that Alexandra brought in those side tables too and the little hints of earthy colours really anchored the room so it didn't feel sterile. Glad her sister loved it so much. 🤍

I am a fan of colour and couln't have imagined that a room with no colour at all - just white and beige - could be nice and cosy and sooo beautiful! Well..... this one totally rocks!
If the room is one color, can you really say it is no color?
Colors come and go in home design just like in fashion, but as my favorite Home Economics teacher used to say,
“ Fashion is trendy, but style is timeless.”
This room will never go out of style.
Great neutral pallet and great use of texture and contrast. It is very relaxing and inviting and yes, Zen.
Bedrooms are supposed to be a place to de stress, unwind, relax and sleep.
A neutral pallet allows the eyes to rest.

I remember this one. It wasn’t my favorite, but I appreciated the simplicity of what you did and thought that if she liked it then that’s all that mattered. Why someone would comment such judgmental things is beyond me.
People were right, though. The last makeover upgraded the room in terms of aesthetic (although that wasn't my favorite), but downgraded the room in terms of functionality. Her sister didn't keep the ladder, clothes rod or turned over basket. She instead got another dresser, a bedside table, a vanity and brought her bookshelf back in.
Whats the prob with that comment? You can't call yourself designer if u cant respect your clients requests

Honestly, I'm more into her sister's color scheme myself, but as I'm growing older, I have learned to appreciate some 'zing' of accent color here and there, albeit minimally. I think Alexandra did really good for being minimal with the color for this room. Great job.

I love color too but can appreciate that not everyone does. This makeover looks fantastic!! The textures and subtle neutrals and fun accessories such as the lamps make this space super welcoming. Like a great bed and breakfast but the art feels more personal than that.

Oh my gosh the painters tape hack for hanging art is brilliant! Great job on the makeover. Great job sticking to your sister's neutral palette...I could tell it was painful for you not to add a pop of color somewhere. 😜 And you can definitely tell that you two are sisters... your smiles, the way you talk, so cute.

OMG Alexandra. I'm also a colour person and I identify with yours and Hermione Chantal's style. But this room made me want to try and decorate my spaces with no colour. It looks sooooo good!

As someone who also loves color, I am amazed at how beautiful and cozy this turned out! Every detail is so thoughtful and intentional. I like that you kept the tv in the same position in relation to the bed, and you really maximized the potential of her existing furniture!

I was glumly thinking 'all white, it's going to look cold and uninviting, like the inside of a fridge.' However, you proved me wrong. I love the textures you put in (those pillows on the bed are epic!), the chair, the blanket, the stool. The neutral colors of the night tables (and you left enough room for alarm clock, phone charger, late night book, etc) really work. Bravo!

This is one of the best neutral rooms I have seen done in such an efficient way.
I am using less color these days and I think a lot of us need more calm in our lives. You nailed this room. I also want to compliment your look in this video. Your outfit and hair looked perfect. Very sophisticated.

Just Loved Loved LOVED it. That style/colour scheme is so my vibe. It is also very difficult to pull off successfully but you pulled it off beautifully.

I do love textures and tones and natural materials over color. I do however prefer warmth over stark white. I think you did an amazing job by creating warmth but staying true to what your sister wanted.

I am a maximalist when it comes to color and I love jewel tones. That said, I LOVE how this room turned out. I could have that as my bedroom. It is so calming and cozy.
This room is beautiful and you have to cope with the demands of your clients, I am always impressed by people who transpose new decors from a room without wow into beautiful and who sometimes are the opposite of you. You bring people pieces that bring joy to their lives. Superb !! 😍

I'm a big fan of no colour too. We just bought a new house and painted all of the walls different "shades" of white. The bedroom looks lovely!

You have definitely grown as a designer. This space is much more sophisticated and beautiful. Personally I love lots of color but this room turned out warm and inviting. Two small pieces of constructive criticism I would give are: 1- Get a heat vent cover that will direct the heat out from under the dresser. 2- Use rug pads. This helps inexpensive rugs feel better and helps expensive rugs last longer. Keep up the good work!
