I was blown away by the affirmation that nobody really has the rule on what CBE is. As a professional educator I consider there are some subjects which cannot follow a CBE approach, and other where you must really think what is you want your students to learn, because under the CBE strategy the quantity of the content is less than thatyou can achieve in the traditional method. Sts will learn it, for sure, but you must be aware they will only master specific areas of your subject. Hence, Finland allows students to actually create the year's content and plans. Wait...isn't competencies basically another word for standards? And the strategies for students to become competent are the outcomes or objectives? So is CBE not the same as SBC ( Standards Based Curriculum ) and OBE ( Outcomes Based Education)?
