The warmer May weather favors the growth of grass, which is why systematic lawn mowing is the most important procedure at this time. In May spring fertilization is already behind us, and summer watering is still ahead of us. Often the question arises as to which cutting height will be the most appropriate? There is no definite answer, but here are some tips.
There are several aspects to deciding how to cut the grass high. We have to take into account what type of lawn we have, whether it is a usable lawn, decorative lawn, or maybe a sports lawn, and what grass species prevail in our lawn. In addition, it should be taken into account the weather conditions and what is the location of our turf - whether it grows in the sun or in a more shady place.
It is generally recommended to mow the lawn at a height of 2 to 6 cm. In our gardens, most often we set the mower's knife on a higher level, we will meet a 2-centimeter haircut more often on the golf courses. For lawns growing in Polish weather conditions, low mowing would result in excessive turf thinning, which is why we usually mow it at a height of 4-6 cm.
During dry weather, in the summer we mow a lawn centimeter / two higher than in the spring, so if in May we mow the lawn at a height of 4 cm, on hot days it is better to set the mower at a height of 5-6 cm. The high grass shakes the soil, which evaporates less water. The situation is similar in the case of turf, which grows in shade or partial shade - it is recommended to mow it slightly higher than that which grows in the sun. Light deficiency should be compensated for by the abundance of leaves. Decorative lawn can be trimmed to a lower height of 3-4 cm, and the usable lawns prevailing in our gardens, as well as sport lawns are pruned higher, usually to a height of approx. 4-5 cm.
If the lawn has grown too high, for example as a result of our longer absence, it should not be shortened by more than 1/3 of the height, and at most by half. A low haircut should be spread in 2-3 steps. We mow the young, just sown lawn for the first time when the blades of grass grow up to 8-10 cm in height. We should cut it shorter by 4-5 centimeters, not lower. It is only in subsequent battles that we can slightly lower the cutting height. It is better for the turf to mow the grass more often, cutting small parts of the stalks.
The last time we cut the grass at the end of the growing season, most often in November, although there were already such years when the lawn had to be cut again in December. Last mowing should not be too high or too low, depending on what lawn we have, it is usually 4-5 cm. Too high mown grass will break and rot under snow. Too low mowed will be exposed to freezing roots.
The frequency of mowing is not subject to a rigid scheme, it depends on the weather and the growing conditions of the grass itself. So we need to decide when and at what height to mow our lawn. When the blades reach a height of 6-8 cm, the mower must move. Regular mowing affects the fact that our lawn looks nicer, but more important is the fact that this treatment stimulates the grass to grow, stimulates the roots and limits the development of weeds.

oglądałem już kilka filmików, ale na wszystkich jest podana różną wysokość trawy 😂, na jednym od 2 do 6 cm ,na innym od 4 do 10 cm , jaki w końcu? może między 6 a 12 ?

Noo film ok lecz widać te trawnik wymaga aeracji rurkowej i piaskowania. Szczególnie widać to po odcieniu trawy w 52 sekundzie za chłopcem z zabawkowa kosiarką. Gleba pewnie gliniasta?
