Also I don’t tournament fish because I don’t have time for one or the boat or livescope. I feel like I can’t compete with the guys in the big name boats with $1,000’s in electronics.

With some of these tournaments I would love to see some sort of electronic surveillance be introduced. Even something as simple as everyone in a big money tournament is issued a small dash cam (gopro or something similar). Then Clio it somewhere to film the fish caught. Then just let it film from blast-off to weigh-in. Only winners' film would need to be checked. It wouldn't be perfect but it might help at least deter some types of cheating.

I don’t because of this stuff. I think it has more to do with their egos than the money 💰 just my opinion. Thanks Matt!

The weird scoring system of some tournaments is why I don't fish competitively. Also not skilled enough for pro level.
But it's cheaters like them makes me want to do a tournament. Bring honesty back in the sport.

It would be interesting to see what kind of interest or participation there would be if the tournament was just done for fun and competition with no money involved.

I heard them say guys were catching their fish in 72 feet of water in the walleye tournament. I wonder if that makes it hard for them to keep fish alive catching them that deep?

Thanks for the video Matt! This is just disgusting. Hope these guys and anyone like them are banned from tournaments. One thing is for sure:Everyone will now be watching for this kind of thing. Cheaters be warned!

That’s why I don’t fish tournaments. People are more prone to cheat when money is involved.

Below you can find the maximum penalty by offense level. In Kentucky, all felonies carry the same potential fine: $1,000 to $10,000 or double the amount of gain from the commission of the offense, whichever is greater.
As a former director myself I feel like they should fined to the maximum and black balled in any type tournament events!!!
To me a felony is a felony, if cases like this aren’t prosecuted then what’s that say about the legal system. You need to understand that between these two men over the year’s have netted over 3 million dollars…. and failed polygraph test to my understanding. Just my two cents 😢

Dead fish shouldn't be allowed but fir anyone who cheats in a tournament for me the ppl that get caught would loose their fishing fishing license for 5 year's & wouldn't be allowed to fish any tournament in the country or their home state for life

Its the pressure they're under. From their sponsors, the $, etc and they cracked under it. The cheating isn't why I don't compete, I just don't find it a fun, relaxing thing to do.

Some exploit the gray area. But still. These guys hurt ALL sportsmen and women. They don’t require live fish at weigh-in. Also these fish were caught deep so survival wasn’t expected. These were cookie cutter fish and were similar size as the others but nearly double second place. You’d have to be crazy to do it. I hate like Enid crappie over 12” to keep. I measure different than you or GW. Scares the crap out of me if I was found to have a short fish. I have been checked once by GW and that was duck hunting. They didn’t find any lead but when cleaned my bag out I found one stuck in a corner. I liked to have fainted because I was that close to ticket.

We don’t fish tournaments because that’s to much like work. We fish for relaxation and just being outdoors. No stress, no anxiety, no worries. To each his own. But I agree with you it gives tournaments a bad name.

I don't fish tournaments for this reason. With today's technology an all the money in this walleye fishing . There is no reason for not having a metal detector or ex-ray haperatous.. or if it's all dead fish, every fish that wins money gets cut. End of story. I will however continue to fill my freezer with those lake Erie walleye..

I used to fish bass tournaments for quite a few years. It was a lot of fun and as a beginner if you fish tournaments you can learn a lot. I started fishing when the electronics were not so suffisticated so to catch fish consistently you had to become very aware and learn the water. I never experienced any cheating but do remember reading about fish in cages in a Texas tournament years ago. I do agree that the fish should come to the scale alive and a penalty associated with dead fish. That forces th fish to be taken care of to be released alive. This is a very unfortunate situation and should force this tournament trail to reevaluate its rules.

I would absolutely love to enter fishing tournaments but sadly I don't have the extra cash to keep up with everyone. It ain't the gear it's the fisherman that get the fish. I just can't afford travel expenses to do it, if I could do so I would do it I. A heartbeat. These guys make me mad for sure but it don't keep me from entering tournaments. For me it's the cash. I make just enough to be poor lol

It happens in all tournaments types, I fished bass tournaments for years and there several people caught cheating weather it fish in boxes or putting weights in fish.

I fish a small tournament in bass club. But I’ve heard of guys hiding fish in a lake for bigger tournaments. This is definitely a black eye.

I don’t because there are so many unknowns about tournaments. When your not supposed to use some baits I know some don’t obey the rules. If people were honest and truthful there would be more people doing them! If they fished like MLF and bass masters there should be a boat judge or live camera at all times.
