I think Den should have gone for his wildcard during the last 2 minutes. Multiple beatboxers have used their wildcard during the eliminations because they became so iconic and the one from Den was also one of them.
First 2 minutes was really nice, last 2 minutes felt like it didn't really have a concept over than just beatbox with cool sounds. Regardless he still showed he has alot of potential
He had a 2 weeks notice and on top of that, he has pretty bad asthma. A 4 minute set would be extremely hard for someone with bad asthma. So BIG BIG BIG up to Den for killing it given the circumstances
I feel like it is better to use part of the wildcard in the elimination instead of doing a song that is different but uses very similar sounds/techniques. If you just do the wildcard then it's all good, the crowd and judges will love it cause it is tried and true and recognizable. However, if you do a new song but the sounds are very similar to the wildcard, then it makes it feel less original and makes you seem like you don't have good variation. My favorites are those that do a new song and use new sounds, but obviously that is very difficult and you have to be a well rounded beatboxer to pull that off.
I really enjoyed this Elimination beatbox whise, what i think was a big problem this elimination is his stage performance. He used almost the whole of the stage what was Amazing! But he walked from left to right so everyone sees him sideways, what make it a lot harder to engage/involve than if he was facing forward and making the crowd engage with certain lyrics or some shouts. If we look at Heliums Elimination, his was simple and his english isn`s at all at the level of Dens, but with him facing forward, moving with the rythm, his "DJ ALEC!" and some other parts he made the crowd involve what creats more headbanging/cheers what Den got less of, while Dens beatboxing was more complex and more impressive, I think that plays a big part of this elimination, loved the rest
Den mentioned in his interview that he was called and offered a place in GBB on 2 weeks notice. That is really impressive that he ended up in 19th place overall but agonisingly close to getting through. That must mean that the other judges had him quite a bit higher than you did here, would that be correct? I feel like your 24th positioning for Den cost him a place in the top 16 but I don't mean that in a bad way or anything.
@@Mr.M1STER I don't know exactly because it's not a normal average, but if it was (the results are usually pretty close) he would have been ranked 17,75 (you just have (24+4*avg)/5 = 19 so you have avg).
Think it just came down to experience, which he now has being at GBB. In video format this piece is a lot higher than others but this is like an opposite version of codfish. Keen to see where he is a year from now with beatbox
Your analysis has been amazing to listen to! Your feedback to elims which didn't make the top 16, i feel you delivered in such a constructive & positive way regardless. Really refreshing. Super interesting & informative 🙂🔥
after you analyse the gbb vids i think u should analyse battles from the past like when you were battling in the uk champs etc.. and u can tell us how ur style has changed since then vs now
Kind of an impossible task you ask for, let me explain why. I assume you (hopefully) watched some of DEN's videos and routins to come up to your conclusion, otherwise you should. At last you arrived here for your opinion and still came to that conclusion, even if you have right here one of the unarguably BEST beatboxers of our time analysing for you what DEN's strong and weak points are, not just his bass, but also his tone controll, filler sounds, musicality, etc. So even an expert who is saying DEN is at least one of the best in the world right now in (just the example) tone controll you still say his bass is all he got. Tell me, how can anybody prove you wrong at this point? But thats fine, everyone has their own taste and thats wonderfull, because we get so much variety in our life because of that! So i believe no one will be able to change your opinion, because you are (probably) not open for other views based on other tastes (no offence, hope that git clear from the above 😁) Enjoy your Day 😊 Esh!
Hi I'm a new fan of GBB and am bit confused by the competition structure with the wildcards, elimination, and solo elimination stuff. Does it ever get to semi-finals and finals to find an overall winner? Any help would be appreciated :) This community seems really great!
@@muhammadanas5328 Thank you for your reply! Are the quarter, semi, and finals coming up? Or is the entire contest over? I'm only asking because I thought they announced King Inertia as the 1st place winner. But then they post eliminations... I looked on the website and couldn't find a bracket or anything... Sorry for any bother!
So last top 3 from previous GBB owns a place for the next one. Beatboxers can win a place for GBB by winning big events like Asia beatbox championship or American beatbox championship etc. Also there will be special Wildcard comptetition. Then winners get a chance to compete. They all doing eliminations to pick 8 (or 16 in this GBB) by judges. Then quarters, semis, small final and final. GBB was hold in 3 days 22-24 october and was live on UA-cam. Now Swissbeatbox releasing all elims and battles 1 by 1 with good sound quality
@@ReggaeBlessed Wow, thank you so much for your insight. I love seeing all the talent and performances, I really wanted to learn more about the competition iteself, so this helped so much. I'll be looking forward to all the battle videos!
Your entire explanation as to why his interpitching made him score down is what Den's "theme" is. It's his beatboxing style... how is he supposed to beatbox on a stage and also maintain his unique style? Just curious in your/anyone else's thoughts. Cheers
He only scored down on the originality (using covers) and the consistency of his percussive sounds, about a third of his explanation is him saying how great the interpitching is, unless I am just missing something he said, if I am just time stamp it
its not fair because new beatboxer compare to old beatboxer dont got there own identity as an artist and with ur judgement you penalize the new ones whereas when you judge the artists during the gbb it should be like hearing them all for the first time so that they are all equal from the start. It's my opinion on what should be judging.
I might put a rebuttal to you here. Identity as a performer is developed, but it is also developed at different speeds. Some people take years to develop a sound that really sounds like them... others are distinct enough early that they sound like themselves without having to experiment with different ideas, and their sound becomes their own sooner. The established artists have had the time to make their own sound, the newer ones have not. But the stage they are on is the same. The older ones have had a chance to gain a reputation, the newer ones have not. But the stage they are on is the same. The audience knows older routines, they don't know newer routines. But the stage they are on is the same. You can't entirely pretend not to know what you're in for when you have older established artists and newer unknown artists. In some ways, you need two simultaneous forms of judgement. Judgement on the older established artists based on what you know they can do as well as what they actual perform, and judgement on the newer artists based on the ability they have to showcase both originality AND the ability to match the established artists' level. Comparing them is not wrong, nor is using your past experience with an artist to judge either that artist's live performance or the level at which everyone should get judged. Ultimately, utter and true fairness will never be achieved. I believe they did a good job attempting to curb the implicit biases and provide as level a playing field as they could.
