Yes, indeed! One of the most useful video on the web about windsurfing. Breaking down maneuvers, and focusing attention on key movements is truly effective.

Very useful! You're very clear and synthetic. Your videos are the best on the web. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more of these in the future.

Try doing it with your eyes shut once you're confident. Saves looking at the crack in the wall you've been meaning to fix for a year. Works a treat and improves your self belief.

i did wonder at the value of a practice regime on dry land for a complete beginner. This looks like it's something I've got to try; especially when the winter storms are not too "beginner friendly".

After watching scores of technique videos over the years, I was surprisingly impressed by the usefulness of the smaller muscle memory tips that were evoked in this video! Probably more useful than any other single video I've seen to date! Excellent work and keep it up!!
One question - in terms of other overall technique advice, what do you think of the concept of focusing on completing a technique in steps, or stages, such that (for example) working to accomplish a good entry and initiating the carve (in a carve gybe obviously!) before turning your attention to the footwork - then the rig flip - then the exit? So by the time you get to working on the rig flip, you've already got your entry and initial carve more of less routine. My problem used to be that I had SO MUCH to worry about even as I contemplated beginning a gybe, I was almost overwhelmed right from the start!

I agree that you should work on a move in stages. Windsurfing has the potential to be overcomplicated. So to avoid this break things down to the beginning, middle and end. I have a nice Gybe series for you to work on here - ua-cam.com/video/jqhR6xiyZ5Y/v-deo.html

Very useful video, thanks a lot!
One thing that I'm wondering about though:
Is there a general rule for grabbing the boom either above or below your other hand? Or does this really depend on every specific move?
I noticed you only grabbed above during practicing, and with the tack and vulcan, but below when doing a jibe.

Depends on equipment or set up. As long as you keep your body low and stable then what ever you do should work.
Higher boom set ups favour reaching under with the new hand.
Lower boom set ups favour reaching over with the new hand.
There are of course some exceptions to what I said above.
