    Two questions:
    1. Are you using the default exposure settings (zero)?
    2. Is this with a CPL filter?

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  15 днів тому

      I use the default exposure setting of zero. No CPL filter was used. I state whether a CPL filter was used in the text overlay I placed in the video examples. In the status line of the full screen videos, I show the firmware version along with a "C0". "C" is for CPL and "0" means no CPL a "1" would mean a CPL was installed.

    Just a quick question - did the blue radar light show when it wasn’t plugged in correctly? If not, that would be a simple visual check to know if it wasn’t plugged in fully.

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  7 місяців тому

      Thanks for the question. Just to be sure we're using the same terminology, what you're calling the "blue radar light" is the rear camera's "security LED'. There is nothing named a radar light in the user manual (that I can find).
      I ran a test with the front and rear security LEDs enabled. I turned off the accessory power to the dash camera, waited the 30 seconds for the U3000 to enter radar parking mode. When it first entered radar parking mode the U3000 is still awake until it expires the initial "awake period" timer and it then enters its "deep sleep" waiting for the radar units (front or rear) to detect movement. Looking at the rear camera for this test, when the U3000 goes into its "deep sleep" the rear security LED turns off.
      With the cable only partially inserted (enough to still record video, not complain about the rear camera and the cable not fully clicked into place), no movement is detected behind the car. When I approach the front of the car, the U3000 front camera detects the motion and the U3000 wakes up to start recording front and rear camera video. The rear security LED turns on while the U3000 is recording for 20 second video and remaining 40 seconds when it's still awake. The rear security LED turns off again when the U3000 goes back into its "deep sleep" mode.
      With the cable fully inserted (all the way until you feel the "click"), the rear security LED still behaves the same way. The only and big difference is that motion behind my car is now detected causing the U3000 to wake up and record front and rear video as needed.

    • @georgebinns2
      @georgebinns2 7 місяців тому

      Yes, that’s what I was talking about. So from what you say, the rear light has nothing to do with detecting movement, it’s just an indication that the U3000 is recording. So the only way to confirm the correct operation of the rear camera is to ensure it initiates recording.👍

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  7 місяців тому

      It indicates it is recording or it is in the waiting for more motion to be detected for a total of up to 60 seconds after the 20 second videos are recorded. When in radar parking mode, if the U3000 is in its "deep sleep" mode waiting for the radar system to detect movement, the security LED will be off.
      You could use the rear security LED to let you know it detected movement. If you're generating triggering motion directly behind your vehicle and the security LED turns on, it's likely the rear radar detected movement. If the security LED remains off no matter how much movement you generate behind the rear of your vehicle, that's a strong indication that the rear radar is not detecting movement when it should be detecting movement. The 100 percent sure way to make sure is to review the video footage.
      During my testing of this issue over the past few weeks, I had a second dash camera system act as the "monitoring" camera. That other dash camera would capture front/interior/rear video. When I would generate movement behind the car, the other dash camera would record it (it was running in low bitrate parking mode) and the U3000 would record nothing until I moved to the front end/side of the car. It was plain to see that the rear radar did not detect any movement in those tests. When I fully pushed in the U3000 rear camera cable at the rear camera, the movements I generated behind the car would cause the U3000 to start recording. You could see me approach the rear trunk area of my car in the 20 second rear camera video.

      I don't have a Vantrue N4 Pro to test.

    Viofo has user Starvis 2.0 sensor but didn't implemented it fully so it is not working as it should like in Vantrue N4 Pro. Thus, night time number plate reading is poor and so is the HDR.
