But, and this is a big but specially at that time period, this motor is an absolute monster, I have seen well maintained stock r32 rb26 and by stock I mean stock bottom end, put 550bhp and drive around reliably. And I have seen more than one of them do that.

Very wrong. Nissan has been building the VQ series since way before renault bought a ~20% stake in nissan to save them from bankruptcy. Renault is using a detuned vq35de out of the FWD cars in the renault megane not vice versa.
nissan fell off in my opinion if they came out with the turbo option for the z with maybe a rb25 or a watered down rb26 then in the gtr have a monster(bored stroked camed injectored head gasketed studded) rb26 or 28 for arguement sake they would have been un f-ing touchable and that would have forced toyota to bring out the supra and have to drop some super nut in the 2j and let the fun begin

Which means, lot of nose weight, and lot of understeer. In a car that weights 1.4 to 1.6 tonnes and runs on leaf springs, it means you'll be hardly taking any corner if not straight. In a snappy little car like the Shelby Cobra, it's even worse. The car will corner, but any little mishap with the steering or the throttle, and you're done.

no, the motor is not from a renault. They desgned it in 1994 as the vq30de for the front drive nissan maxima. then it became the flagship motor for all their cars

Instead of producing a special engine they use one for about 6 different models. Plus you'll notice that the 350z uses the same platform as a few other Nissans. When you come down to it, it's about being cheap. Production costs are much lower when everything is the same.
