This is such a good movie. Brings American history to the forefront. You may like Henry Ford or not, but he was a transformer for the better for America. All those farmers had a new life changing device that brought them money. In big amounts. Mechanization of our farmland transformed our country. Too bad he laid off god knows how many employees for the year and a half, two years during his development of the V8. That was a shitty move on his part and probably decimated families. But, when he started back up, it was a good deal all around.
I met Tennessee Ernie Ford when I was working in a gas station in woodside California. He was driving a Ford Bronco. He got and asked me. Kid, can you pump Ethel, I said sure. He replied. Don't let her husband find out.
Thanks for putting this one up. Good visuals but not so truely factual. The GM/ Chev 6 did not push the new Ford V8 ; Ford answered the Chev & new Plymouth 4 with the Model A which outsold them all. Late 1930 & 1931 struck all auto makers, Chev/GM included but Plymouth new 6 sales were rising & they had new advances & low prices . Henry hoped to beat the Depression with the new V8 & leave behind GM & Chrysler but it did not go to plan. Worldwide, Ford would have been more profitable then either GM or Chrysler.
Hi Brian, Ford Motor Company was actually Henry Ford's third start up in the automobile industry. I did do a video covering cars that went BK during the great Depression. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/g43cVj0SqJ8/v-deo.html
There were thousands of companies trying to make a car between 1900 and 1920. Just about every industry started out as great free enterprise opportunity. Then, companies like Ford get in bed with government, and nobody else can compete. Huge mistake we made,---lobbyists, begging for government regulation to hold off their competition. Now, they are forced to make,--what our dictatorship wants them to make.
The American dream is not about the ability to buy things. People buy things in communist nations too if they can. It is the freedom to make and sell things. To compete in free enterprise. It was that action that attracted people from all over the world, with no welfare system, so they can "produce" their dreams. That is why the USA was called by those people, not the land of consumption, but "The land of opportunity".
@@kensmithgallery4432 Thank you. I hope to run for office with my big mouth about what it means to be American. What real human freedom is. Individual liberty protected by law, and free enterprise in the hands of the citizenry who created it in the first place. That--is the opposite of communism. That is the philosophy that set man free from brain dead rulers. :) But we did not keep that philosophy for long. We can do it again.
At the beginning of the Ford history, Henry Ford put in production the Ford A 1903, C, F 1904, N-R 1906, all in the popular car market, the most luxurious Ford B 1904 and K 1906 was not a success and were not loved from Henry Ford.
Thanks for sharing this documentary on the Ford motor Company. Well done .💯👊👍💕
Our pleasure!

What about a video on all the car companies that started up around the time of Ford but didn't make, I understand there were a lot.
