It's easy to portray a bad person. All you have to do is be bad all the time when acting as that person. However, Ralph Fiennes took it a step further. He also showed Amon Goeth's human side which made his evil acts even more monstrous. He showed him laughing and even being considerate of others such as when he was picking out his maid. She stepped closer to him after she was chosen from the line of women. Since Ralph's character had a cold at the time, he steps back and tells her not to get too close since he is not feeling well and doesn't want her to catch his cold. Then moments later he has another woman, the engineer, executed. Bad people don't do that. Monsters do.
At 2:26 we see a bit of the scene in which Fiennes says to Ben Kingsley, "look at me". The close-up of Fiennes face is down right bone-chilling. Can't think of anything else in film as terrifying as his stare. Too bad the whole 8-second scene is amiss.
And just how different Goeth and Voldemort talked. I really had listen closely to hear Voldemort. Either way he gave the appropriate chilling tone to their voice.
The movie and portrayal of Amon Goethe by Ralph Fiennes came at a point in my life when I was growing and about to lose my youthful innocence, my parents and siblings were on a trip, and I watched it alone, before then I never imagined the world could be so terrible, and evil and sadistic people existed, after I watched the movie, I had to wait for a few more years to watch it again, his portrayal of Amon Goethe should have given him an Oscar, he showed his evil, malice, charm, insecurity, greed and pure lunacy and blood lust, even for him, if he is to say it, it was his best portrayal ever, and acting, he was the devil himself for that part, to the bitter end, he was Amon Goethe, look at him fixing his hair even as he was going to be executed....

It is said that during the making of the movie, they had a few WWII survivors on the set, and when one of them who had seen Amon Goeth in Aushcwitz, come face to face with Ralph, she fainted in fear, as if she had seen the real Amon
It was his persona that terrified them the most. He's such a good actor that he played on Göth so well. It was like stepping back in time and reliving it for the survivors who met him.
In real-life, Amon Goeth could not shoot from the balcony because a hill with trees lay between the camp and his house, obscuring his view. Goeth's house does not overlook the camp like in the film. The real Amon Goeth may have been shooting from the balcony but was probably hunting birds as target practice in preparation to hunt the Jews. To shoot the prisoners, the real Goeth rode his horse up the hill or hiked it wearing a hat, which marks the time for prisoners to hide. From the hill, Goeth had a good view of the camp and there he would shoot the prisoners. There are times he hunted from his office window as his office itself overlooked the camp.
I know a lot of people who don't like Ralph Fiennes. The older ones don't like him because of Schindler's List. The younger ones don't like him because of Harry Potter. I like this talented actor!

Fun fact: The real Amon's execution was botched. The rope broke 2 or 3 times before the hanging was successful. Many high ranking nazi leaders hangings were botched, with some taking as long as 28 minutes of hanging to die. Personally I think it was an intentional form of revenge.
Good for them!! I hope they were tortured fot killing innocent people and beautiful children were just thrown in the chambers too. They say forgive....that will never happen from a lot of people
@@christinebrett4825 so am i Jewish so i won't be joining in
I dont understand the idea of “botched” execution. You’re killing someone and youre mad on success of how fast its done? Lol sorry just a high thought. Lol
This doesn't help your case unfortunately torture isnt "right" even if its the most evil man on earth which he probably was.
@@gardenstate732 Well so is killing, ironically. lol a botch execution you're still killing someone. Even if you did it successfully, you're still killing someone. Why worry about morality of it all? You're killing someone. lol
This guy is brilliant in so many ways.
Too bad the whole 8-second scene is amiss.
his look is terrifying cause he has those beautiful stunning blue eyes in black n white they look even better gorgeous man
He is a brilliant actor. When I watched this movie , I was afraid of the people, who could be killed by him))
True
He played this part brilliantly pure evil.
I've always been impressed by Ralph's ability as an actor
Fiennes, did his research for this role. The similarities are uncanny, right down to his hanging.
It’s so weird to think that Ralph Fiennes played Amon Goeth and Voldemort what an amazing actor !
And just how different Goeth and Voldemort talked. I really had listen closely to hear Voldemort. Either way he gave the appropriate chilling tone to their voice.
Yes and such a lovely person too.

When Freddy Krueger makes a knightmare , Amon Goeth appears.
It is said that during the making of the movie, they had a few WWII survivors on the set, and when one of them who had seen Amon Goeth in Aushcwitz, come face to face with Ralph, she fainted in fear, as if she had seen the real Amon
Yes true... Also the daughter of amon goeth monika was there watching and attacked steven spielberg.
The English Patient played so well in the film.
lord voldemort is so fuckin handsome

wonderful actor in every role he play!
Amon Goeth was a total monster, pure and simple. Everyone cheered at the end of the movie when he was hanged.
What's with the handsome German soldiers actors in movies, him... and that one in the Pianist as well.
Yes Wilm Hosenfeld he was handsome!
He's a master of the art
Especially he shot the shot , real life shot , no Vodka shot , lol
I hear some Holocaust survivors where traumatized that he did the role so well and looked like Amon that they had a real fear of the man
I see this comment in every videos with Amon. What's the big deal with deaths of filthy loan issuers?
a google search would make you realize that Finnes didn't look like Goeth at all. Finnes was a handsome hollywood man compare to real life Goeth.
It was his persona that terrified them the most. He's such a good actor that he played on Göth so well. It was like stepping back in time and reliving it for the survivors who met him.

This is a phenomenal video ❤️👏 this song fits perfectly also Ralph Fiennes killed it in this role he was amazing
Ralph Fiennes a brilliant performance as he all way's is in all his rolls 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
he's soooo charming..
What a brilliant performance he played this character so well I really believe it scared the academy from given him the Academy Award
In real-life, Amon Goeth could not shoot from the balcony because a hill with trees lay between the camp and his house, obscuring his view. Goeth's house does not overlook the camp like in the film. The real Amon Goeth may have been shooting from the balcony but was probably hunting
birds as target practice in preparation to hunt the Jews.
Best actor of all TIME! Ralph fienes is so good 😳❤️ !
I know a lot of people who don't like Ralph Fiennes.
The older ones don't like him because of Schindler's List.
The younger ones don't like him because of Harry Potter.
I like this talented actor!
I don't like him because of 'The English Patient' - he was so icily and easily cruel with disturbing conviction.
Como me encantaba este actor, uno de los pocos actores que encajaban en cualquier papel!!!
to be able to play someone so despicable so well and be regarded as a kind man in real life shows his range as an actor. this movie was a marvel. and he stole the show, as did Liam Neeson.
He must be appreciated for his outstanding acting ❤️
"Who stole the chicken? A man walks around with a chicken, and nobody notices!".
He is beautiful. And the devil was an angel.
Dont paint him in a sympathetic light. Ever.
Fantastic actor, he became Amon Goeth! People will be glad to know he's really a gracious and funny guy. A friend of mine met him in London a year after the movie was released. A gracious and charming man from what I was told.
Uno de los mejores actores que ha dado el mundo del cine. Está película fue lo que le impulso a la fama.
+George S. Patton Pero se lo merecía y mucho.
Exelente interpretación de Ralph, le robaron el Oscar como mejor actor.
I can't believe this man played Voldemort
Ralph Fiennes it is a great actor!
Ralph Fiennes, great actor, handsome & sexy.
The song is good, but I'd prefer just the dialogue
He was sooo handsome in that movie !
Too much, the real Amom Goeth was a middle aged slob.
brilliant role he played
Great actor Ralph
It's so sad to think a human being could be so brutally evil, still look at themselves in the mirror, and not become sick for what they did!!
Ralph Fiennes,bravo!
I love him❤
Bro he looks too good in black & white
Ralph Fiennes is the only one who touches my heart, indeed
Ralfh is very handsome ...Oh my god .....

Handsome
Ralph Fiennes is born to take evil characters.
Watch him in the movie Strange Days. He's really versatile.
One of a handful of films in history where every actor should have recieved a Oscar
He’s one of the greatest specially in this movie
2.50 i love the way it occurs to him to arrange his hair during those moments lol 😂
Best clip of all is the hanging of Amon. What an evil evil piece of protoplasm. Great work Ralph Fiennes.
normalil normalil agreed tho the one guy needs to work on leg muscles
Why was he hang if i may ask?
Venice Reid They didn’t win the war.
He was hung for crimes against humanity..and it took them 3 times hanging him to kill him..he was 6 foot 4 inches tall and the rope/drop ratio wasn't right..
@@lisa_yvette3875 What crime did he commit?
Ralph - THE BEST!
After this film I hated so much Ralph, And then he apears in Grand hotel Budapest. He is one of the best ever, no doubt. Genius
Probably the best deepest heartbreaking film ever about WW2, especially as Steven Spielberg as director.
Какой красивый немецкий офицер!
He was chilling as an SS officer. Just the brutality, ruthlessness and intelligence he showed as this killer who has no feelings or remorse as he eliminates people. He sent a chill down my spine. Especially when Neeson gives the thirsty people in the cattle car water by spraying it from above! I’ll never forget those cruel and chilling lines. Now that’s cruelty! Because you’re giving them Hope! That’s real cruelty! I remember thinking he’s right! They were doomed and it was just prolonging their agony! Incredible portrayal of Evil! He definitely should have won the Oscar!
I love his character...lmao for days!
Might be top 3 best actors of all time, off this role alone!
Ralph Fiennes is very great actor... I'm sad that he is not making any movie
I love how the director chose not to give Amon Goeth any redeeming qualities. very smart
and it shows his opinion of Nazis overall.
Rynne Rawrsome I disagree, Amon shows emotion and warmth in some scenes. You can also see his psychotic behaviour in scenes such as the mirror scene, which create a divide
Because Amon Goeth had little to no redeeming qualities.

Should’ve won The Oscar. One of the many reasons why The Academy needs reform from top to bottom.
I think the reason he wasnt given the award is bcz they cant give it to a nazi german brutal commander
He was chilling as an SS officer. Just the brutality, ruthlessness and intelligence he showed as this killer who has no feelings or remorse as he eliminates people. He sent a chill down my spine. He was like a Shark 🦈. A cold blooded killer!

Because you’re giving them Hope! That’s real cruelty! I remember thinking he’s right! They were doomed and it was just prolonging their agony!
An Incredible portrayal of the banality of Evil and cruelty. Chilling!
And when that poor Jewish girl tries to survive his sexual advances. He was playing a deadly game with her and she was just trying to survive. I felt so bad for her. She dealing with a Predator who could end her life in a second if she displeased him. I thought how is she going to survive him? Very powerful scene!
He definitely should have won the Oscar!
But maybe they were uncomfortable giving the award to someone who portrayed an Evil SS Officer so well. Maybe they thought it would glorify them.
Oh well, the role is unforgettable and Fiennes has made his mark. That’s the main thing. 👏🏻😎
If Spielberg could direct that mechanically-challenged shark from Jaws, he could direct Fiennes.
