Own a white 2024 Seltos EX. For the price this car is awesome. It's a pretty big jump in $ to get the SX and although you do get plenty of additional features, if you don't mind the base engine I think this is the trim to get. There are areas the car could improve. While it has rear seat air vents (good), the airflow to those vents is very light. As mentioned, it is wired Android Auto. Although the car includes built in navigation in this trim. A lot of cars don't have Nav anymore but this Seltos does. This can come in handy. Overall, for a car that costs around $25k new with a great warranty, the Kia Seltos is one of the best options.
Hey Matt thanks for the review. I have a 2021 SX Turbo with the DCT, which I guess will be a rarity in the segment going forward! I actually really like the DCT. On my commute to my former job I was fortunate to have ideal driving conditions (moderate speed, low traffic, very few stop signs/lights) and I got 35 mpg consistently. Now I live in a busier area and get about 25. Low 30s on open highway. I don't mind the DCT feel at all, perhaps because my last two cars were manuals. In fact my last car was a Kia Forte GT manual which had the same T-GDI engine. Side note: I loved the Forte GT I just needed something larger for my family - and I remember watching your review of that car when making my purchase decision! As for the Seltos, I love the way it drives like a peppy hatch, but I'm not sure I would pay for the top trim again. I paid extra for the sunroof which is quite small, the premium Bose audio which is disappointingly a significant downgrade from the Harman Kardon in the Forte GT, and the self-driving features as you mentioned are a bit lackluster. Still, highly recommend the car!
My wife bought a 2022 EX Seltos new a few years back. For the size, I love how roomy it is, not to mention a lot of great tech/safety features compared to its rivals - perfect for a family of 3. Thanks for the great review - nice to see how the model has changed with this refresh/update.
We have a 2024 kia seltos sx awd with the sunroof package. The sun roof package gets the ventilated seats. Overall, we love this car. Feels well made and great to drive in this segment. The engine with turbo is a great drivetrain for passing and maintaining speed easily. The 8 speed auto is also super smooth. This car feels a lot smoother and it doesn't feel like it struggles to keep up like the crv hybrid felt.
Hi Matt, I am not sure why Hyundai Kia default to "passive lane assist" in their factory settings. But if you go in and change it in the menu, to active LKA, it gets a lot better in my experience with atleast three models (unless you did that already)
I've tried playing around with the settings in the past, but usually the press cars have everything turned up to max assistance, and it still was doing this same behavior.
@@MattMaranMotoring Hey Matt, I have an update - you are right on these models. I drove a sportage '22 and it has the same issue! The reason I was skeptical is bcoz: For many years I. have owned a '19 Kia Optima and it has a green steering wheel icon that appears in the dash in addition to the dotted line car icon. (enables > 40 mph, disables < 30 mph). It centers the car very well and even takes highway sweepers. For some odd reason, they. have not had this software in many of the newer models
Really digging this car and the color. Seems pretty small if you have a carseat in the back. I'm 6'3" and that probably wouldn't fit me. Also curious about why there is a seatback pocket on the passenger seat and not the driver seat. Also the screens and gloss black trim pieces are going to look ugly in a hurry if you don't obsessively clean it. Great review!
Objectively it's a decent car but GDI issues and oil consumption issues are concerning. I wish they added MPI to avoid carbon build-up on the intake valve. The base motor is MPI but it's paired to a CVT. Cooled seats was definitely a surprise.
The 1.6l is good, but you have to do the injector cleaning after so many miles. Those Theta 2 engines (thank goodness they're getting phased out) have turned the vehicles into mobile cremation centers. My niece have a second generation Soul with the Theta 2 engine, and it have been running perfectly. The injectors are due for cleaning, and I will clean them as soon as I have home time. The woman in my family doesn't know anything about cars except driving.
Wireless not important to me as I have previously opined. I think KIA are great vehicles, however the price and feature advantage is less than it used to be; no longer the significant arbitrage KIA used to be. Is the acceleration test that you do, bad for the car ? I think Sportage might be a more practical size for most people. Will you be testing a 2024 Sportage? I think I prefer Hyundai Kona to Kia Seltos especially for looks.
The acceleration test isn't bad for the cars, just an ordinary full throttle run. I tested the Sportage last year and there's nothing new for 2024. Here's my Sportage review from last year in case you missed it: ua-cam.com/video/jDzUj3lK_Bk/v-deo.html
If you don’t want new shit I guess. Just lease. I need all the new tech. I ain’t backtracking I work to hard for that shit. Leases nothing is your problem at all.
Great review Matt ! My Brother owns a 24 Seltos , he seems to like it he says it reminds him of a baby Kia Sorento . Kia should also bring the Broreago to compete with the jeep , 4Runner and Bronco .

Cool color. Great review. My favorite part, @13:03, “hit or miss”, when describing the sketchy lane-keep assist. Hopefully, people miss. lol.
Haha I hope so too! Thanks!

Best bang for your buck SUV
It’s an UV, not an SUV. There is no sport built into this.

They underrated the MPG. It gets about the same MPG as a Ford Fusion with the Ecoboost 1.5L from the 2010s.
Always loved these lol
I have a 2023 Kia Seltos EX and I love it. I use it for Lyft and GrubHub and it's durable and I get many compliments from riders.
The person walking towards the car at 5:57 looks like they're about to either jump you or tell you how much they like the Kia Seltos.
Lol! Yeah they strangely walked past the car twice while I was filming. I had to cover the first time up with b-roll haha.
Talk about an assertive walk! lol
Kia pays attention to the cars of the past, Pontiac Aztec was a legend.

Also I really like the speaker grills for some reason!
And yeah the bottle holders in the doors seem like a no go for today's tumbler-addict market.

A used toyota is always better than a new kia

I don’t see the point of this car. Just get a sportage
Sticking with my DCT Nightfall. Lil ripper for sure.
