Okami Part 21: The Poncle Village

Japanese fact:
The poncle are based on the Korpokkur- a race of small people from Ainu folklore. According to the folklore, these people came before the Ainu and were skilled fishers. The two races were on good terms and the Korpokkur would send the Ainu animals and other goods. However, they didn't like to be seen so they would only deliver this stuff at night. One day, some guy wanted to see a Korpokkur so he waited in a bush and caught one- a girl. She was so upset by his rudeness that from then on, no more Korpokkur ever came to visit the Ainu.
Some anthropologists believe the race truly existed though they were not tiny bug-sized people like in Okami, but rather just a slightly shorter people than the Ainu.
I wanted to learn more about the Korpokkur, but unfortunately since they are depicted in so many different forms of modern media, I couldn't find much information about the ORIGINAL folklore or of the possible anthropology connection aside from what little was written on the Wikipedia page about them: en.wikipedia.o...

The gate leads to the past and the white wolf from the legend who gave Nagi the really cool sword is Amaterasu? Even though ammy emerged from the very same statue that she turned into tat the start of the game? So what, you gonna turned yourself into a statue again until the game starts again? :P
