Merry Christmas Mike, When using the club call for pota you can be the control op as long as you have permission from the trustee but you need to stay within your privileges. If activating as a club outing you will just need to change the operator call so that each person that gets on the radio gets credit for activating. Just need to get 10 qso's per operator for each op to have a successful activation for the op and the club. For example if we are activating Monte Sano and I get 5 qsos as we4dx and you get 5 as we4dx you and the club get a successful activation but we each get a failed activation. For uploading its best if the trustee has the pota password. I would have bet Stairway but i think it Hotel California
Cool Christmas gifts. That tarp looks very sweet, even to deflect some summer heat! And the Prepper Pete books look cool too. My grandsons would like those!
The licensed operator can only use his/her own callsign in within his/her own privileges. So a General class in the extra band can use the club call, but not his own. That assumes the club has a designated control operator with an extra class license on the site. A licensee using the station within his/her own privileges can use both call signs. regardless of control operator's license class.
If there is a member of the club who is a extra and acting a a control operator on premises you can work all the bands, if it's you and your call is a general call you can only work general bands and below.
It also says West Bloomfield… which is one town over from me here in Oakland County, Michigan. Yes, you can set up programs to push this data automagically. Maintaining changes when switching parks can be a chore, but previous residences from years ago? 😂
How much heat does the Genasun Charge Controller generate in the box under load? I ask because the manual advises you to allow adequate airflow around the controller. The gun case you have it in is designed to be water tight. No airflow.
Club callsigns don't confer ANY operating privileges. That's a common misconception. You can use the club call if you have permission from the trustee. You can use the license class of whatever control operator is present. You often see things written like, "we were operating under the club call, so I could use the extra privileges," from people who probably had an extra around as a control operator and didn't understand which of those two things gave them the privileges.
Clubs don't have operating classes. Mike's advice on defaulting to your privileges or that of the control operator (if not yourself) is the correct way to operate.
Club calls can be used by those authorized by the trustee. You should use your privileges unless there is an authorized person of higher class to supervise. We do this all the time for field day.
I think this is the one I'm using. amzn.to/3VQCkRu There's all kinds of them on amazon though. Just search 12V breaker and you can find whatever amp rating you want. I don't have any on my Amazon store because while I do have many of them, the quality is hit or miss. Sometimes they trip, sometimes they don't. For example, I use a 250amp breaker when I test batteries. I regularly pull around 270 amps and that breaker never trips. I've tested a ~60 amp breaker and it didn't trip until I pulled over 100amps from it. I really just use it as a switch and rely on the fuses for actual protection.
Good work, but having the 100 AH battery floating around unsecured in the battery box is sloppy work. The battery will be banging against the 12V cables protruding from your Power Pole sockets etc and over time could damage or break the connection! Secure that battery with suitable packing, buddy!
Is that one of those awesome strechy tarps? I need one of those in my life. It's always raining here. Maybe one will go on sale (for real on sale, not that Amazon sale thing) soon.
I think I can help with the club call. Mike's totally right, the control operating is the person submitting the event, aka the lead. the general rule of of thumb, is you need to use the frequency privileges that person has; a.i. general class, extra class prospectively. If I where you, I'd find a club in your area who does Field Day that uses the club call. It'll be similar and they'll be able to you. good luck and hope to hear ya on the air. 73s
Another great video, Mike. Merry Christmas, brother. 🤙🏾our tenant says he's leaving in March, so we'll have a guest room for a little bit again if you come out and POTA. Hell, Mauna Kea is a summit, too. SOTA?
Yeah I'm 99.9% sure you can't upload from QRZ to LOTW. That's why I always upload to LOTW first. That, and for some reason which I have absolutely no justification for, I just feel LOTW is more "official" if that's the right word.
I have no idea, but I would assume (and we all know where that gets us) if you override your station location, could you potentially submit all of your contacts with the new location? This is just the way I do it. I'm sure there's other ways, but it's easy enough to do it this way for me. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
@@hamradiotube it does it on a per QSO basis. so if one QSO is in New Mexico and the other is in Colorado, each one will show the location for that QSO and not the station in Texas that you have setup as a station in TQSL.
@hamradiotube Well, I have a challenge for you and could be considered your next antenna build. Start the video playing Stairway to Heaven. Then take the strings out of the guitar and come up with a way to convert them into an antenna! Any frequency you prefer! What do you think! 🤔 good ah!! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

Re: the tarp -- will the reflective side tune on a g90? Or work for a ground plane on a vertical? 😀
As Wayne read on the sign... this is a "NO STAIRWAY" zone. 🙂
Nope, not Stairway.

Merry Christmas Mike.
Question... @ 19:34 under your logged grid square why does it say Oakland County, MI?
It also says West Bloomfield… which is one town over from me here in Oakland County, Michigan.
Yes, you can set up programs to push this data automagically. Maintaining changes when switching parks can be a chore, but previous residences from years ago? 😂
Who the hell knows? I changed my address in QRZ years ago. EM22ai is the correct grid I was in just outside of Dallas though.

Hey Mike, Palo Pinto Mountains State Park is a new state park due to open next year. I am sure you could be the first to activate!
Also staying in General area increases the number of possible contacts.
What box were you using for that build? The orange one.
Clubs don't have operating classes. Mike's advice on defaulting to your privileges or that of the control operator (if not yourself) is the correct way to operate.
How did you fix the batteries to the power box?
Battery boxes are a great thing to make. You never know when you need extra power.

Good show Mike. I don't see that main switch/breaker in your Amazon store. Can you provide a link? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

What im not been able is to export updated qso from qrz to lotw that already have been exported but wasn't confirmed.

why not just choose Override Station Location with QTH details from your log? then you don't have to create multiple stations. doesn't that work?

Club calls has a class of Club and have no privileges. Privileges are only the level of the operator.
