  • If your software is unable to detect or find your printer or if your software is asking for a Wi-Fi Direct password, then watch this video and learn how to perform a FACTORY RESET to place the printer back into Wi-Fi Setup Mode.     This was super helpful! I have been so frustrated trying to get this printer to work, and finally found this video. I didn't realize that changing router (which we recently did) is what was affecting the performance of the printer.

    This has been the most useless printer I have ever owned. It constantly looses wifi connection and it has the most complex procedures for resetting. DO NOT PURCHASE !!! You will spend more time messing around with the useless interface then actual printing !

      FIVE FUCKING HOURS. To scan. It worked yesterday, after an hour of fucking with it. It worked fine the first FUCKING week. Thanks for fucking nothing.

    This is the worst printer ever, when the problem started after about 2/3 months called hp agent was rushed wouldn’t listen to me and rude. Determined to never purchase another hp product or use their service I called where I bought it from their only help was to spend a couple hundred dollars on their online help. Went looking for someone who was in the business who would help. Found someone after several several hours he suggested I call hp again. As a last result I did call them, got an answer and was asked a couple normal questions and put through quickly to a busy signal! Continued trying to recall constantly busy. To say I’m so done with this product is an understatement! Never got through, found this sight and was so grateful when it actually worked to print. Printed a couple pages and then it started all over! Done so done!

    I am having the same issue not being able to connect to my wifi on the smart tank 551 does this method work on that as well. I just purchased it a week ago and was working fine until today.

    Still doesn't connect. Your app says "Do not select printer with DIRECT in the name" but that is the only printer name that appears. May need to return your product since there is no solution available on your website or on youtube!

      My printer’s option is only upto A4. If i scan a legal docs to the scanner feeder, the print out is cut.

      @@HPSupport My 7605 is stuck in the setup-process. Display say "HP software is setting up.." (in danish) and appear as "offline" in the HP Smart APP. I need to do a reset or something else to get it moving as it is quite unresponsive. And since I have the touchpad version I have no buttons to press. What to do?

      @@HPSupport Yeah, that was the first one I tried but trying to reset the wifi had no effect at all and HP smart did not offer anything helpfull either. Actually, making a printer with NO manual possibility og doing a factory reset just HAS to be a major design flaw from HP.
      In the end, I solved it myself. By skipping the HP smart wireless setup and going for the USB based connection instead finally broke the 5 day loop, the 7605 had been in and is now working as expected.
      But I think you guys really should install a reset-button of sorts. That would have saved me 5 days of utter frustration.

    Doesn't work for Smart Tank 750. After the loading icon disappears in 40s, the wifi button doesnt blink (It doesnt blink either when all the buttons blink for a second before this step). Please support with this.

    Nearly every time i have to use the printer ( eco tank 7300 ) , I have to uninstall it and reload it , even then my computer still has trouble finding it. ( not 5eet away )
    Yet i have another printer downstairs , computer finds it just fine

    My printer shows a blue wireless connection button, but can’t be found. I have to press the wifi button until it disconnects, and press it again to connect. Only then devices can find it in the network. Very annoying because this procedure is required for every printing.

      @@HPSupport Hi, Thanks for the link. I printed the wifi/test results page. The signal is strong (-16 db) and there's not channel interference with other WIFI networks. Disconnect count (last 24 hours) = 5, Disconnected count total = 1082. Signal Strength = very good, Signal Quality = Good. I'm using an Asus AIMesh network. The printer is placed just next to the Main Wireless Router (Asus RT-AC88U).

    The printer wifi drivers are somehow being deleted, this is why these printers never connect anymore. There might be a way to update the drivers via PC.

    BRAND NEW SMART TANK 7005 and It will not connect to wifi, Im connected to its wifi find the printer and select the proper wifi, but when trying to setup wifi I just getting "it takes longer than expected to connect" try again or cancel. Ive tried on 2 different phones and from the computer, same error. THIS was very frustrating.

      @@HPSupport thanks for Youre reply but I have no issues with what step to take in a guide it just the printer that will not connect to our wifi. Unifi and new hp (old hp printer no problem) is not friends, setup a temporary tplink hotspot and the printer works for now. I dont know why it refuse to connect to our unifi wifi.

    After changing the router the wifi doesn't connect. It asks for WPA/WEP password but after entering correct password it doesn't work.

    everything works until the loading icon disappears, but then the wifi button does not start to blink. this is so frustrating.

    I have the smart tank 750, I hate I so much. The wifi is not working, took it to hp and it came back broken with the wifi not fixed 👎👎👎

    This is a bad joke. In 25 yrs I've never had great difficulty connecting a printer. Paper instructions on the 7005 are vague and incorrect. The HP Smart App is anything but. I new the laptops were bad, but OMG the printers are even worse. For info I'm installing this piece if junk for an elderly person.

      Thanks for getting back to me, Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP smart app and in the meantime,
      I'd request you to perform a reset on the printer. Kindly do the following:
      1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
      2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
      3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
      4) Press the power button for 30 seconds.
      5) Wait for 60 seconds.
      6) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
      5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
      Note: To make sure the power source functions correctly, make sure the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet and not a power strip or surge suppressor.

      @@HPSupport I have the same issue-- I have done everything n the video and on the support pages and still the wifi is not recognized by my Smart Tank 7000--the wifi icon does not light up again and the app does not find the printer

    The HP printer feels like a personalized perpetual assault (rape) on the user’s sanity and time. While the concept is promising, the web server’s default configuration is abysmal, the web interface is insidious, and the HP Smart App appears to be a haphazard amalgamation of patched-together code. In hindsight, opting for a Brother printer might have been a wiser choice. Although the Brother device is somewhat bulky and lacks aesthetic appeal, it compensates with better features and pricing, sans any DRM restrictions.

    Did not work. I have a one month old printer and it's cooked. I've spent more hours trying to get the piece of shit to work than I have spent actually using it. Hope y'all go out of business or something with these useless products and equally useless customer service.

    Hp sucks guys NOTE! Do not buy HP SMART TANK 750 ALL IN ONE why you are just wasting your money imagine wasting 295$ just to get a useless printer in the world . Issues? The internet keeps loosing all the time when you print something and what else? When the wifi turns of in the middle of printing session the paper would stock in the main carriage and it will jammed and now what is my issue? I can't connect in my useless HP SMART TANK 750 saying printer unavailable it so useless pls DONT Buy it BE AWARE!! I wish I could get my money back wasted alot!.
