This brings back wonderful memories of signing this hymn next to my mom in church. I loved singing this together, my sister and I would sing the soprano and while hearing our mother’s lovely voice singing the alto, and then hear our dad’s tenor coming from the pulpit, while my brother made a joyful noise in whatever key felt good to him at the time 😊 We live a thousand miles apart now, so we don’t get to sing together very often any more. Thank you for reviving a wonderful memory. ❤

It's definitely the closest but you can tell they're subdued. Have performed this with much higher energy in choir and church. Classic naval/military style melody. You can tell Gilbert and Sullivan loved this one. I'll give it best on ytube so far. They have this exact choir over some cheesy midi music and that's okay...but cheesy midi is cheesy midi, so this choir only version trumps.

Remember this as the closing hymn sung at the Sunday night YFC Singspirations in the 1950s in Milwaukee, WI. I have never heard it acapella....beautiful!
