I am making this hat right now on straight needles with a skein of caramel colored alpaca yarn. Love the pattern...it is so meditative. I think the simpler patterns knit on quality yarn always end up being my favorite articles of clothing. Love all of you work. Thank you! This video is so helpful, too.
Thank you for this!! For the step right before this, what do you mean by "Thread through the rem sts and pull up tight." ? How can you thread through that last row? Sorry, I'm a novice. Thanks!
Hello Golmah, you would thread a yarn needle and push that through the remaining loops/stitches on the needles, then take the knitting needle out and pull those stitches together to close them up tightly. After that, you can start to seam the hat. I hope that helps!
I measured around my grandson's forehead and it was 23 inches around. would I need to cast on more stitches? Love this pattern so easy and on straight needles.
Many thanks. It’s from a CD called Angel Lover and that particular piece of music is Amour perdu. A friend of mind is a pianist and she recognised the music. Again many thanks
Hello Carol, any yarn that can be used with 6mm (US 10) knitting needles and bulky weight yarn will be fine. For 8 ply yarn - if you try it knitting with two strands together on 6mm (US 10 ) needles to see how it feels - it should be ok to use. I hope that helps :)
Hello Nazia, this yarn splits apart really easily when seaming, so I twisted it to prevent the fibers from breaking apart, hence the twisting and tangling.
@@handylittleme of course. I always forget to look at the description and if I’m on the laptop I haven’t got a clue how to pull the description up!! Not very technical savvy. I’m a nervous new knitter so fingers crossed I will be able to do this lovely hat. So Sorry to bother you it’s my bad. Love your channel content. Thanks again. Take Care
Hello Gwyneth, I used a pair of circular needles to knit the hat flat - back and forth, the same as if I was using straight needles. This was not knit in the round. I use circulars for everything because I find they are easier on my wrists/hands and I knit for hours every day! So this helps.

How do I adjust the pattern for size 8 (5mm) needles and size 4 yarn?
Cheers for that

Hello Carol, the hat will fit a head that is 22/24 inches for sure. My own head measures 22 inches. :)
I ended up with a 4 inch brim in stead of 3.
Can I still carry on the same or reduce the 10 inch that needs knitting next.
Thanks
Hello, I would probably frog - (pull it back) so that the brim is 3 inches long.
@@handylittleme will do. Also after the brim is finished is it knit the purls and purl the knits?
Thanks for the advice.
@@Felicity2121 Hello, yes the hat is knit in ribbing - only knits and purls.
Could you tell me what the piano music is, in the background please. It’s beautiful
Hello, it's called 'heavenly' and I don't know who it is composed by, I bought it from a site with copyright-free music. Sorry, that is not much help!
Many thanks. It’s from a CD called Angel Lover and that particular piece of music is Amour perdu. A friend of mind is a pianist and she recognised the music. Again many thanks
Can I join two threads of 8ply to get it more bulky? or just use one strand of 8pl. I want it to turn out correct measurements.

Is it possible to reverse what side of the hat is on the outside? Knitting this hat for my mom and she prefers the look of the stitching on the back.
Hello Maya, yes, you could try that - you would have to reverse the seaming - using the wrong sides as the right sides if that makes sense!
@@handylittleme Great, thank you so much!!
Why you yarn keeps tangling up?
Hello Nazia, this yarn splits apart really easily when seaming, so I twisted it to prevent the fibers from breaking apart, hence the twisting and tangling.

Hi, was this hat knitted on straight needles or round? The pattern says straight needles, but some of the images look like round needles? Thanks :)
Also, will a length of 110m (100g) be enough for this pattern or would I need to get 2 balls of wool? thanks!
