+Andrey Ulanov The tape is there to keep the SLink tab from coming out from the riser. We've heard of a couple instances where the SLink came out and a line wrapped around the tab, causing a malfunction. This is a good way to help avoid that, especially if you are jumping this level of a wing and are not using riser covers. However, an alternate method is to tack the SLink, which we do on most of our demo canopies. In this video, Matt prefers using the Gaffers tape because it makes it easier to swap out canopies.
