Hey! Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any questions about seasonal jobs, full time work, ect. There are so many ways to work and still be nomadic!
The jobs on the north slope of the Brooks Range in Alaska (oilfield work) are two weeks on and two weeks off. All the food, housing, housekeeping, and recreation are paid while up there. Some of the guys don't even live in Alaska on their 2 weeks off - Thailand, Philippines, Latin America, etc.
@@Sebastianstonum One of our sons is in the Process Technology program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It's a 2 year program. If you do an internship with one of the oil companies as a part of that program then you are guaranteed a job. They average $85k the first year. Five years later they average $135k. We met the recruiter for Hilcorp last week at the internship meeting. In his presentation he explained that every five years there is a $100,000 bonus to every employee if the company makes its production goal. They have always made it. The other avenue for young guys is one of the union apprenticeship programs. Local 301 is the operator's union and plumber pipefitters are in local 375.
Hi Sebastian! New subscriber here! I saw the VW and was instantly a fan! I LOVE VWs and have owned 3 bugs and dream of owning a Westfalia campervan one day. I'm currently living in our cabin in the Yukon, so I understand the cold, lol! One of the bonuses of driving your house to work is having lunch 'at home'! Love it! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!-Sue
@@HoneyandMe Hi Sue! Welcome to the community! I’ve come so close multiple times to owning a bug but could never pull the trigger. One day though! I bet it’s beautiful up there! I know I enjoyed my time driving through the Yukon. I’m hoping to make another trek up there and the NT eventually. I get a significant discount for lunch at the airport but I still prefer to go cook my meals in the parkinglot. And that way I know I’m getting a good cup of coffee too!
Thanks for this video! I’m currently looking for a van I’ve always had this dream and was also just wondering how I’d sustain to travel and do cool shit. I live in Europe and in culinary school while working full time so I want to live in a van save up and then hopefully do some seasonal cooking work in awesome places. Perhaps Scandinavia in the winter and Spain the summer!
Cool video and I know how expensive it is to live in Jackson. It would be interesting if you talked a little about what your job is at Jackson Hole Airport.
You actually make more than me! I work at liquor store.. soon to be cooking again.. yay! But there are times I want to send you money.. but there is no option.. thanks for channel I love watching u enjoy your life.
Yay back to cooking! Money always helps but that’s not what I ask for. I share my adventures and beautiful people like yourself enjoy tuning in. That’s all I want from this!
@Sebastianstonum My take is that home ownership was turned into bank robbery under President Carter and President Reagan. It's not about affordable housing or good value housing. It's about taking all the money you can from a bank. I have done this for vehicles I want including my Ram Promaster.
Deathwish coffee from upstate NY !! That’ll get you motivated, I’ll recommend the Valhalla Java as a welder working 70 hrs a week it keeps me moving in already 29deg weather
Instead of an aeropress type set-up? You'd be better off with a mokapot/caffetiera/Italian stovetop espresso pot. They're reasonably priced and make a superior coffee.
@@jean-claudebonillo1535 sweeet! That’s definitely a trek! About 1600 miles round trip but I’ll let you know if I end up around there early January, thanks!
COFFEE recommendations: dont get duped. pouring boiling water into anything other than glass or stainless steel is a big mistake. throw that aeropress in the bin. get an insulated french press that makes 32 ounces at a time and get a high quality thermos that actually keeps it fresh and hot. remember. coffee must be extracted at the precise temperature for the best results. its all about the process. start blooming the coffee. let it sit for a 60 seconds in that stage where it collects at the top of the water. let it bloom in that stage, the longer it stays at the optimal temperature for extraction the better and more robust your coffee will be while free of the overly acidic bitterness when you extract with water that was too hot. and obviously when your coffee tastes like zip zilch and is just murky water, your not using the right temp or the right amount of beans. also - insulated french press the coffee is rich and thick, you get a tiny bit of particulate, use heavy organic whipping cream for your cream not skim milk, and put a a tablespoon of irish butter in your coffee. as far as grounds youd be suprised how good that the simply organic beans are from aldi. i really love a few diff beans, but i dont partake often i try to stick to organic pesticide free fair traide sustainably sourced single origin coffees from the highest altitudes. the level of grind for the correct brewing application is essential. too fine is mistake, too course and youll have no flavor
@Sebastianstonum one thing I may not have mentioned. As someone who relts kn a diesel heater for my living area but the rest of the house is the same temp as outside one cheat code is when you boil your water include extra. Pour boiling hot water into your travel mugs and seal them While your coffee is blooming so your going into a pre heated trumbler and thermos. Adds like a solid 3 or 4 hours heat retention your thermos will still be piping hot and fresh for lunch break. That way your entire 100% of your lunch break is spent enjoying with the prep already done. Just a cheat code I do. Love sharing routines with you love your attitude! Keep moving the ball down field! 💪💪
My thumbs are big and gloved sorry 4 the typos lol I bet you were surprised to see someone even more of a crack head when it comes to their coffee routine 🤣🤣 and to those who are skeptical it may sound like alot of fuss.
