Two years ago, I lost my Grandfather. December 18th, 2023. I remember it to the day, and the hour I was told. Around this time would’ve been the funeral. That actually broke me. He was my idol, a man from nothing who built a family and home for himself. Off nothing but his own back and intellect. And a day doesn’t go by I don’t miss him like all hell. In the year since, I got ABB in my A levels, got into the university of my mother and my uncle, to do a degree I love, and have made incredible friends, kept those I call brother. And even better, I’m doing better, finally losing weight I’ve felt self conscious about. But I think most of all, I have a girlfriend I love beyond life itself. I miss him, absolutely, but I now just want to let go of all my sadness and rage and be a better man.
