To the commentators: about half of what you say is interesting and relevant to the race, but the other half only serves the purpose of making it more difficult for us to hear the skippers.
ineos better find a way to bring a new hull when the real racing starts. their current hull is too flat bottomed - that's why they have so much trouble in light wind. the moment the hull starts to lift out of the water all its buoyancy is gone and the foils have to do all the lifting before it has enough speed to generate enough lift. the other boats have more triangular hulls so the loss of buoyancy as they lift is more gradual allowing the foils to build up more speed before they have to do all the lifting.
That makes no sense: "the moment the hull starts to lift out of the water all its buoyancy is gone and the foils have to do all the lifting before it has enough speed to generate enough lift. the other boats have more triangular hulls so the loss of buoyancy as they lift is more gradual allowing the foils to build up more speed before they have to do all the lifting." you're mixing up speed with wetted surface and confusing yourself with shapes. LOL. For either hull to be out of the water, the foils must have a minimum fixed speed.
Re the commentry. 1 keep the American comintator. Get rid of the rest. 2 explain the penalties 3 explain the strategies 4 explain the protests. Basically a very painful listening experience, you expect everyone to understand the rules etc.
Agree. I would also be explained more how the starts working, Like how can you get penalty Before the race has started. This is something they could talk about, and it would be interesting, As it’s now I have to tune down the sound.
It would be nice if they offered multiple audio channels to choose from so we could actively select between the play-by-play or the actual crew communicating or if you are really into it, the sound of the boat energy. My Bluetooth Noise-cancelling headphones are ready to go on strike.
General question. Why don't "grinders" pedal? For most people, legs are much more powerful than arms. It must be in the rules, but every other part of the rules can be changed every four years.
As far as match racing and tacking duels goes. This is as exciting as sitting in the back yard watching the grass grow. These style of yachts has ruined the Americas Cup
After having seen all the match races of this world series, talking about Prada, I have two doubts in their strategy: 1) the position of the crew, since these boats needs to "fly", you need clean aerodynamics, and the crew is too much exposed to the wind, breaking the surface of the boat. New Zealand for example have tehier crew practically inside the limits of the boat, invisible. 2) three team have chosen to have one helmsman, Prada two. I believe that having Spithill in the crew Prada should elect him main helmsman and tactic, and Bruni can support in tackling and be in charge of foils. I think that two helmsmen will not give any advantage able to help winning a race. Overall New Zealand seems to be the best boat with the best team and speed.

@@patrickcasados7461 Hoy, thanks mate. I'm wondering, who first said, "Hey, let's put this wild looking winged hydro foil hinged keel, not one but two on this hull shape. Then they had to prove it could actually do that, then share that with every joe blow in whatever countries that can afford to build a couple? Like so many commentators, and too many from USA especially, they feel they have a duty to fill every moment with the sound of their own voice. What a pain!
INEOS TEAM UK does not accerate like TNZ or LR or AM Magic. More aft rake leaves the boat with less turning (downwind) tendency, would tend to turn to windward so has to be more drag making the turn with more aft rake then less aft rake....

They tighten the sail and release it . I presume they also contribute to the hydraulics to lift and lower the foils. But I could be wrong on that one. If you see the shots aft looking forward you'll see the sail tacking at the base on the deck. There are markers . Look close at the sail as they try to get as much wind into it.
