Someone once said, "Elvis was gifted from God but Elvis was the gift from God." He may have had a life that make some Shakespearean tragedies look like nothing in comparison but God gave him a purpose. Few singers reach Elvis's height, in their own way since he's still the one by which all others are compared and they don't, but few people changed history and the world. A man who didn't think he'd be remembered and yet, yesterday... 30,000 people traveled to Graceland to pay their respects and only the White House receives more visitors but Elvis probably would not have believed it if someone told him people have been mourning, missing, and celebrating him longer than he lived, still having that same affect on people today as he did in his day.

The most misunderstood musician in history. He opened the door for everyone to follow, receiving scorn, ridicule, branded a racist (!); the latter so ridiculous that I won’t bother to comment. Hopefully now, 45 years later, some people get it. The caricature of Elvis that has dominated the media for so long (an overweight, «cover» artist, that just got lucky), is so far from the truth it is mind-boggling. He was a unique interpreter of songs, so charismatic that it is frightening, pulling at people’s heartstrings like no one else has been able to. His concerts were events, not just a musical feast, bringing people from different generations, races and social status, together. As you said, he stood for positivity and joy, a man who excited millions of people just by his very BEING. He changed society, our culture, but for young people today, this is impossible to fathom. There was before, and after, Elvis. He was the godfather of rock’n roll, not ingenting it, but bringing it to the masses, receiving more abuse and sh.t from society, than most punk bands did in 1977. His death sent shock waves around the world, he was so much more than just an entertainer. President Jimmy Carter issued a statement on Elvis’ passing, saying that «America lost a part of itself with Elvis dying». That was so appropriate, and so true. James Brown, «the godfather of soul», refused to leave Elvis’ coffin, and was totally heartbroken. So was Muhammad Ali, Sammy Davis Jr, and about every living soul with a heart attached to the body. In the 70’s, described by the media as his «downfall», he was still selling in huge Numbers, selling out every concert in Vegas and on the road, despite struggling with health issues and addiction to uppers and downers. The day he died, he was to embark on a new tour, completely sold out. Nuff said. If you want to see more of this amazing man live, try Polk Salad Annie, An American Trilogy, or anything from the 68 comeback special.

He didn’t get the life he deserved you’re so right! He lost his mom and was never the same, he gave everything he had for everyone else, but all he wanted was to be seen as a human being, but he always felt alone. You're absolutely right! Elvis was oozing with talent. Definitely a god-given talent! You don't see that too often!
God bless you young man what a great review of Elvis Presley! I watched that live I'm 62 but I remember it very vividly!!! I don't think people realize the powerful amount of energy that flowed through Elvis during this live performance!!!
I was ten years old and mom let me stay up late just to watch this Elvis special. I can remember this like it was yesterday because it was that friggen awesome! Elvis was the total package, that's why he was the King and still is and always will be!
They don't call him The King for nothing. GOAT. You need to see him do IN THE GHETTO & my fave of his THE WONDER OF YOU - the man always gave it his all. Great choice Alex and yeh WTF you need to deep dive w/him!
The King.... ❤️ RIP.
Love you, Alex. ☺️
Gotta keep Elvis alive for future generations, I was born in 71 and my grandma loved him so I did to!!! My kids grew up listening to Elvis, the Doors, Eagles, Hendrix, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and they know the history of rock n roll, there will never be another Elvis. Love to see how you understand and appreciate him!!!
Hey Gen-X Stacey M. I'm 1971 too and, I brought my kids up on all those as well
@@librarianlovesrick Nice!!! They gotta remember the great music alot of the ones making music now listened to back when!!!
Elvis was so unique -- you can't replicate it
And that is why he is king!
Played this song for my mother's, funeral not long ago and when Elvis sung "please let the sun appear "
The sun beamed through the church windows on a very dull rainy day, everyone looked up as it happend.
My mother's favourite Elvis song.
Elvis is in his preacher white suit in respect of Dr. King Jr.
It's dedicated to him and Kennedy.
Wish my mum could have watched the film before she passed, she found out she had months to live due to cancer. 5 months she lasted and died 59 years old in hospital..
I was brought up with The King of rock n roll from both my parents, I'm glad because he's the greatest of all time.
I'm 35 and a metal head but love me some elvis presley!
THE KING. Period. Full stop..
Goosebumps with this song with the Elvis voice.
Clicked on as soon as I saw you did a reaction of Elvis. I grew up with Elvis music because my mom loved Elvis so I became a fan. She saw Elvis in concert 5 times. She would always say...when God created Elvis he was definitely showing off!
"When God created Elvis, he was definitely showing off." I love what your Mother said. Please tell her that.
Elvis: Thank you, Goodnight
Me: No Elvis, Thank you
Like John Lennon said, "before Elvis there was nothing".
Elvis, freddie mercury, michael jackson....those people are rare
He didn’t get the life he deserved you’re so right! He lost his mom and was never the same, he gave everything he had for everyone else, but all he wanted was to be seen as a human being, but he always felt alone. But I wish he was here to see his legacy. I hope he knows how remembered and loved and missed he is always, and that he’s finally with his momma forever in heaven. We love you Elvis 🤍⚡️flawed just like all of us, insanely talented beautiful beautiful man, human, king
Live. Powerful performance pouring emotion so strong it is physically moving.
On my phone.
The King, Indeed. Always.
Every time I hear this song I cry like a baby; and I’m 63. His voice has so much emotion, and the song is so meaningful, and must be played often. It is said that after this performance, Elvis never sang this song ever again.
Fantastic reaction. 1st time watching your channel and you are spot on. Elvis is phenomenal. What a man, what a voice, what a legend! He's been inducted into 5 halls of fame and for good reason. He recorder over 700 songs. There's an "Elvis" world out there to be experienced. ⚡🎧🎸🇿🇦
Awesome reactions my friend,, I’m 61 years old, a life long Elvis fan,, and it absolutely blows me away watching the effects he continues to have on young people. Great video, keep them coming.
Totally agree. Elvis was unique,!!
This performance came straight from Elvis's heart and the depths of his soul .
As of five days ago Elvis the soundtrack was #9 on the Billboard charts.
Someone needs to ring 1977 and say we want Elvis back.
