    My brothers 300 win mag was shooting 3" groups with eld-x bullets so he swore it hated eld's. He was trying a load with RL26. I glass bedded the action and worked up a load for him with a 208 eld with H4831SC and he was shooting 2"groups at 500 yds with it! Not bad for a $400 browning. He took his elk at just over 500 yds this year. One shot one kill. The 300 win mag and 200 grain bullets seems to love RL23 as well and get a around 150 fps more velocity with RL23

    Your velocity should be lower for 2 reasons. 1, the advertised velocity is probably either with a 24” or even a 26” barrel. At the average of 25 fps per inch of barrel, you’ll be 50-100 fps slower with your 22” barrel. 2, you have a twist of 1/8 where the test barrel and most 300 win mags have a twist of 1/10 twist per inch. Faster twist slows the bullet. Another probable reason is your barrel is new as to where the test barrels could have over 1000 rounds through it and usually a barrel will speed up 50/100 fps after and over 100 rounds through it. Beautiful rifle though! I’m in the process of building my tikka and after seeing your barrel, I’m confident in my decision to go with C6 as well! Thanks for the cool content.

      UA-cam is weird with their gun regs and I don't want to post a build list because of that. If you watch my original video where I go over everything in detail you'll be able to make a list. Curious, have you tried the eld-x again after 100-150 rounds through your barrel? I’ve noticed after a barrel breaks in after those 100-150 rounds the barrel will speed up and bullets your rifle didn’t like in the beginning, will now shoot awesome because they’re in a different velocity or accuracy node. Just an observation and from what I’ve been able to find online, it’s a common occurrence.

    • @SClivingOutdoors
      @SClivingOutdoors 2 роки тому +1

      No, I have not tried them again. My gun really really likes those Accubonds. So I have been using those. I’m still planning on reloading 200 gr accubonds when I can track down enough that I can shoot them without having to worry about running out.

      @@SClivingOutdoors I hear you! I just built a tikka in 300 wsm using a preferred barrel blanks carbon barrel. I can’t find any accubonds or ablrs on any site. What I did find that I really like are Norma bondstrike rounds and for reloading I highly highly recommend hammer bullets. I did a 1/9 twist with a 26” barrel so I’m shooting the 181 grain hammer hunters. Hope to be able to report how it performs lethal wise in about 3 weeks. Accuracy wise, found them really easy to find a seating depth node.
