A Canadian friend of mine once said: "If you want to go to somewhere REALLY remote, try Labrador"...although Canada has far more remote provinces...Nunavit, NWT and Yukon. Gas is as nuch as $9/gallon? Wow. Well, you did get to see icebergs! You DON'T want to see Polar Bears, except from a distance. It's really stark, very wide open, but in its way, lovely, dramatic and impressive. Quite a bit of grey skies, though. Dave: You did the right thing in Goose Bay/Happy Valley....gee, that sounded a little shaky! Thanks for sharing, it's a lovely video. Have fun on the ferry ride as you head south to NF! Can't wait to see what the ferry ride was like...maybe you can also give us a brief peek what it's like to be a ferry passenger (inside). Take care!
When we leave NewFoundland in July we will be taking a 17 hour ferry ⛴️ from Argentia to Nova Scotia. We paid extra for a dog friendly cabin so Roodle would not have to stay in a crate the whole time. We will definitely show everyone what this ferry is all about. Thanks for coming along.
Yeah, this is one advanture that winds up on the top of the list. Isn't it fun converting liters to gallons and USD to Canadian while you're pumping all that expensive fuel? I love how some places ask you to fill first and then pay. The first time I encountered that I couldn't believe that was SOP. Fantastic pics again, guys. Bundle up.
:) WOW! Thanks MUCH for share and video! HAS to be the AdVanture for life ! :) ALL the BEST, safe travels and ENJOY! I follow other CDN Vanners, and some have to endure that extreme winter, most huddle in B.C where it is more moderate.... Take care and ENJOY! Cheers!
Thanks for this video. I have sketched out a route including the Trans Labrador highway, not sure if I’ll ever take it but fun to watch. FYI - the husband of the new pastor at our church is from Newfoundland and he confirmed that the pronunciation of Newfoundland is like the 3 word “new found land” and not the usual American “new fun lund”.
Another great video. We are part time van travelers, but I don't think that we could make the trip you are on right now. We are adventurous, but not quite that much. Glad that you listen to your gut sending you red flag warnings. We've experienced those on several of our trips. Keep your videos coming, we enjoy them very much.
Wow! You've done what most Canadians have not done! Thanks for showing us what it's like because we likely will never travel that road. Enjoy Newfoundland, it's infinitely more beautiful than that drive lol.
Cool video that reminded me of the trips I made to Lab City in the early 2000's for Railroad photography. That is Arcelor Mittal's (former US Steel) Quebec Cartier Mine railroad that you saw first at Fire Lake. They run from the Mine at Mount Wright to the St. Lawrence Seaway at Port Cartier PQ. At Lab City, you came across the Quebec, North Shore & Labrador. A Rio Tinto Mine that was formerly the Iron Ore Company of Canada. There has been some new build out since I was there in 2005, but I believe the two railroads still don't connect. My last trip, the 389 was Gravel from Manic Cinq to Gagnon and from Fire Lake to Mount Wright. Looks like almost everything South of Fire Lake is paved now. Great video. Keep up the good work!
We are really enjoying this trip you are on... Now let me say I was shocked when you gassed up and decided not to completely fill. To my mind that's a big mistake as I learned the hard way that the next town you are relying on to fill might be out of gas, I'll never do that again. My rule now is when the fuel gauge gets to half I fill at the next opportunity and I always completely fill the tank. Downunda (Class B owner) - Melbourne Australia
Way to many things i have not seen in this country for me to want to go to Canada...Plus i think there is just to much unknown for me to be comfortable and to enjoy the trip....Glad you folks are getting to do what you want to do...ENJOY !!! Looking forward to when your back in the states....Travel safe, be well....
I would say that you beat down that "stuck in a rut" comment with one video. How did you handle the drone quandary? Did you go Mini 3 or Basic/Special Drone Operation Certificate?
This spring there was a polar bear at Blanc Sablon,Qc. Sometimes in spring they follow the coast of Labrador down south ..., take care there in spring polar bears are very dangerous !
Hope this reaches you in time. I’d highly recommend taking the time for a stop at Battle Harbour National Historic Site (it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site), just before you reach Red Bay. It’s well worth the time and expense - a step back in time.
Gas is definitely more expensive in Canada thanin the States; however, Quebec gas is even more expensive than most of Canada because they have higher provincial taxes.
Just epic!!! Hope those maroons that were complaining about your videos are happy. I get a kick out of those people that say the world is over populated. The obviously have never traveled. So many places that have land. 260 miles until next gas is yikes. Do you have some satellite GPS SOS system just in case? Anyway another great video and looking forward to the rest of this adVANture.
Roodle, just a heads up buddy you're not supposed to chase the fox, it will get mommy and daddy in trouble. As for the sketchy town probably a very good move to carry on. Guys, that looks way too cold for me, but it looks like you enjoy it so carry on. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
$9.26 a gallon? Holy crap! I thought it was bad down here in the States! I'm definitely not prepared to go into the deep North, nor do I want to be going there. Lol. I'm good without snow. 😁 Now if I could go to the North Pole without suffering the cold, I'm all in. Lol.
Oh WOW, I love a snowy landscape❄️💙🥶 Watching your travel days with this heavenly music makes me desire to get on the road again (Az here I come in June) One month between snowy Alaska and the hot Dessert in Arizona🤗💖 OH WOW, those dams are magnificent, my pop would love those engineering wonders!! Awesome drone footage😮👍💖 Same skinny evergreens we have in Alaska!! Beetles have eaten the crap outa them!! Large groves are dead!! New growth is happening though!! Hey did Roodle just have a birthday?🎉🎉wow looky the mining cars on the train!! WOWZA, look at those cuts in the landacape for mining, they have taken whole mountains!! Wohooo, great crossing with the Coast Guard cutter...so cool👍 ICEBERGS!!!💙🥶💙 Love the backdrop for the rolling credits, so pretty💙 HAPPY TRAILS DARLINS🤠💖😎
2.45/litre!!! Wow, last summer the most I paid was 2.05 in Quebec. You guys are so adventurous, I would never have considered that route at that time of year, but your footage was fascinating. Can’t wait for next week.
We are doing both… we don’t like to back track if possible…. Much more exciting to see new things. We will be taking the ferry from Argentia in July so we will have covered ALOT of Newfoundland😃
Beautiful landscape. Glad you saw the fox and Caribou. I hope you see a Polar Bear. 🐻❄ I'm looking forward to that. Be safe and have fun. Great video.
We spent a summer traveling the opposite direction route but - there are a lot of places to see that are just not open during the time you traveled, such as Battle Harbor, and many areas in Newfoundland will be closed down or inaccessible until at least May, so for us, we wouldn't go that early. It is a spectacular journey!
Thank you for the amount of time you both put into these videos... I look forward to each of them. Couldn't pay me a gazillion dollars to go on an AdVANture like this but I LOVE going along with you 3...😊
Hey guys. I'm kinda jealous, thought of making that trip last summer and had to put it off. Maybe this year. I lived in Goose Bay for 3 years as a kid and would like to see it again. Hope I can catch you when you loop around.
very nice video...I hope you will cross to NewFoundland by ferry...I am going to travel in june and July NewFounland first and Labrador after with my camper ...so I am very exciting ...Is it easy in Labrador with boondocking ? you found campground ?and how is the 4G network during your 5 days in Labrador? thanks and have fun
Ouch gas ⛽️ is expensive. Beautiful scenery though and a lot of snow, at least for where I live 😂. Yeah watch out for shady places and people. They see the US plates and it’s smart to leave. Great trip so far 👍🏼
Excellent video. This video has a documentary feel with the story telling, drone and video footage. My parents did the same route around 2000, I never realized what they saw and experienced. Thanks for sharing 👍
What a great adventure! I also enjoy going on the roads less traveled. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone so fill today with as much wonder as possible.
Wow! This is a major adVANture! I am so impressed with you two for doing this. Not exactly big crowds up there. Great photos and drone video. Thanks so much for sharing this with us and your usual great, detailed info. I'm curious how many spare tires you took and what other special prep you did. Looking forward to the next episode.
Beautiful drone footage especially the shot over the snow covered river as your van was crossing the bridge. Just wonderful. Thanks for taking us along on this adventure! Safe travels.
Another great video Dave & Carrie. You guys are great at overcoming challenges on the road. I learn A LOT. Carol is something of a weather nerd. She will enjoy those apps. Carrie, your a damn good co-pilot. I have a question though. I thought to FINALLY take the plunge and start a YT vanlife channel under a different YT name. My questions is, what kind of editing software do you use? Any advise you could give would really be helpful and appreciated. Thank you, Michael.
Looks like a great trip so far was also hoping to make this same run this spring not sure it will happen for us but great to see it trough ur trip b safe see u next week can’t wait for next video
I don't understand when you say you are taking another ferry to get to NewFoundland. You were already in NewFoundland when you crossed the border from Quebec to Labrador City.
Labrador and Newfoundland are separated. We took a ferry in Montane, Quebec across the St Lawrence River ( so we could avoid Quebec City) … we then drove through Quebec until we got to labrador City in Labrador. We then drove 800-ish miles through Labrador and back into a tiny corner of Quebec where we took our 2nd ferry across the Labrador Straits landing in St Barbe, NewFoundland. Newfoundland is a HUGE island and we will have to take a third ferry to leave the island.
@@oneadVANtureatatime Ok. I didn't realize that Island you were going to was also Newfoundland. Sorry! I am bad at Geography! I thought it was part of Nova Scotia. Now that I am clear, could you have gotten there by taking a ferry from Channel-Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada ?

such fine workmanship, editing, photography, Thank you.
Excellent! Few ever take this journey, all wild lands and austere beauty. Bravo travelers.
This part of Canada is where all four sides of my family are from. I am very much looking forward to every step of this journey.
Wow!!! I can't wait until next week. Thanks for sharing and safe travels.
Great video! We are in the planning stages for this journey 2024. Thanks so much for sharing.
You guys are crazy! And I absolutely love it. What an adventure!
Great drone work Dave! Beautiful!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing! 🐾✌️💕

It is so heartwarming to hear the joy in both of your voices! Thank you for being authentic.
Thank you for sharing your experience. You are amazing. With the drone shot every looks wonderful.
Wow! A trip of a lifetime. Thank you for sharing it!
What a truly amazing journey. Thank you both for taking us along. Best of travels and continue to stay safe on your journeys.

This was really interesting... wonderful video.👍🙂
Brrrrrrrrr We are enjoying your trek and cannot wait until next week. Petty Roodle for us.
That highway is amazing and it probably beats US50 for being the “loneliest Highway.” Thanks for taking me along!
You found new land, yay! Thanks for your video!
Wow what an amazing journey!!! You guys are so brave major kudos and stay safe!❤
Brrrr, did Newfoundland in the 70's summer..no see'ums were swarming.
Colder weather a blessing in disguise. And your trip is amazing.
Always follow your instincts! Just beautiful scenery!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Dave your drone footage was outstanding. Thank you Carrie for another fantastic video. ❤
So glad you made it, enjoy Newfoundland!

Great editing and drone photography.
Love your drone shots along the way to show the terrain off the main HWY

Only time I ever seen icebergs was when I cryise down from Anchorage. It was so beautiful.. enjoy.
Wowzer!! Great show! My husband has relatives on PEI. Maybe try going there someday
That fox was amazing. And I can’t believe that gas prices crazy
Winter scenery is just stunning but I'm getting cold just watching your video! 😁 Thanks for sharing your adventure so far! Keep on keepin' on!

How cool you guys. That fox was beautiful and the caribou. So looking forward to the next. Vid.
Yes, you are crazy to do it so early in the season. We just bailed out part way thru an Idaho trip - too many closures and flooded hot springs.
Lol.

What a journey! Be safe on your travels. Try the Labrador tea. It’s supposed to be real nice.
Amazing scenery! Those gas prices are INSANE!!!! I can’t wait to see more of this wonderful journey.
You've got to br careful up in Northern Quebec/Labrador region. Lots of Indigenous people with substance abuse issues up there.

The thought of having to come come that long road. Unless you can catch a ferry. 😮
Holy heck the size of that mining truck‼️😳 Another video of perfection you guys🦊😃👏🏼Thank you♥️
2.45/litre!!! Wow, last summer the most I paid was 2.05 in Quebec.
You guys are so adventurous, I would never have considered that route at that time of year, but your footage was fascinating.

Brave! Why did you choose this route over taking the ferry from Sydney to port aux basques?
We are doing that in August. Visiting NS and NF for a month! So excited
We are doing both… we don’t like to back track if possible…. Much more exciting to see new things. We will be taking the ferry from Argentia in July so we will have covered ALOT of Newfoundland😃
Even though the gas prices were high, the Canadian dollar is worth 74 % of the US dollar, so you did get a bit of a break.
If you get around prineville oregon we have place you can camp on our property we are close to prineville reservoir hiking trails close by
9.26 cents Canadian to US dollars is 6.87
Beautiful landscape. Glad you saw the fox and Caribou. I hope you see a Polar Bear. 🐻❄ I'm looking forward to that. Be safe and have fun. Great video.
Awesome pic of the fox!
Thank you for all your efforts to bring us along with you.

I was researching the route a couple weeks ago. What's the longest distance between gas stations? Happy Trails 🐕
I think it was 250 miles from happy valley/goose bay to port hope Simpson. Our gas tank is 24 gallons and we never had to use our 5 gallon gas reserve. Although it gave us peace of mind to be able to use our heater whenever we needed and to go on a side excursion if we wanted.
Thanks for taking us along this spectacular adVANture. 😉❤
