Before every deployment I wrote one of these letters. I'm blessed that no one ever got to read them. For those who had to read a letter or had to receive the message, I thank you for your gift because every one of my fallen brothers and sisters were just that, a gift to secure freedom.
it's more than I deserved... thank you
They sre so much more than a gift, they are a blessing. They are a blessing for every proud American. We should be thankful every day for those who gave their lives so we can live free.
Thank you for doin' the do...from the ⭐dad of PFC Stephen Paul Snowberger III KIA Iraq 11 May 2k6 and his brother in arms Eric D. Clark KIA Iraq 11 May 2k6...all gave some, some gave all...welcome home brother...
Roger that in my 20 years of service I have 15 letters that I wrote especially when I thought it was going to be my last. While waiting to be cleared for my medical discharge I volunteered for funeral service duty. I am humbled by the sacrifices of our military families to love and support their soldiers, marines, sailors airmen, coast guard and merchant marines!
Here to those of us who made it home to remember those who didn’t. To all patriots you are going to have to help us out this time! BECAUSE THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS COUNTRY IS SUPPOSED TO BE NOR IS IT GOING TO BE IF WE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO ABOUT!
It’s time to fight back and save our country!
@@sargeinamerica ...I appreciate that you did yours and are willing to do more...I am disabled due to a catastrophic spinal snafu, but I can still hold a rifle if needed...and it is needed soon...
I gave up 20 years of my life in the Army and lost numerous friends from the five tours between Iraq and Afghanistan. When I hear this song, it brings tears to my eyes thinking of those friends and their families. Thanks for writing such a beautiful tribute song.
Was it worth it... most american are fooled into thinking army makes people gods and you protect your countru FROM WHO, WHAT and WHY... then you come back limbless for what? don't let your sons be scammed into that vanity glory
As someone who gave 20 years of his life in the service of this country, I couldn't be more proud of Aaron Lewis. The man starts his show with the Pledge of Allegiance, and makes it known very clearly where his allegiance lies. What a great American, and what a champion of everyone who carries the Flag of this Nation with them into closest place to hell on Earth.
Thank You for your services, Sir 🙏
Just came across this post -from someone else who spent 20 years in the service of our country, and the fact that we might of spilled the same blood in the same mud - thank you (SIR)
Grumpy Old Biker Thank You for Your Service
TY for your service
Thank you for your service sir. God Bless.
My father served in the navy ww2 He passed away at the age of 91 he made me proud of him all my life. But one of the proudest moments was at his funeral the navy Honor guard folded the flag and handed it to me. Love you DAD
my dad did as well he was a cook during ww2 then went and served in the Korean war . I Am so proud of my father as well .dad must of been a pretty good cook while in the navy is all i can figure because dinner was always good tasting at home .mom split and took off with another man didn't care nothing about us 2 kids. MY FATHER IS MY HERO LOVE YOU POPS.
My hat is off to your father. Wish I could have had the honor of shaking his hand.
rest in peace brother !
Amen. One of my mentors was Decorated during the Korean war. His daughter died while he was deployed. She was interred at Arlington. Frank died 50 some years later. His funeral is bringing tears to my eyes. 21 gun salute. Seeing his daughters coffin in the same grave was a powerful experience.
A tribute to the REAL HEROES of this nation!
This is why we stand! Yo Kaepernick this is about real sacrifice. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
F..k Colin
Amen
Stfu, I bet you arent even enlisted. Soldiers fight for ourselves first, and then America. So people like Kaep can do his thing.
Kneeling is an an acceptable form of dissension which is the highest form of patriotism. Mandatory patriotism is called fascism and or communism if you don’t like free-speech and living in America why don’t you move to a communist country where patriotism is mandatory like Russia or China or STFU. Thanks.
@@joelescamilla918 F communists who can’t handle free speech including you...
Thank you Aaron, as a Army Veteran Widow that has been handed that flag, its touches my heart and helps me heal one more day. He was not lost in action, but due to the neglect of the VA. Thank you too those that serve and the families that love them and sacrifice they all give for our Freedom.
Hello Keri, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
Thank you for his and your service. Be strong and God bless
To those who have served We the people love you.
My brother died of cancer in a VA hospice. They treated well. I owe those nurses for the care they gave him. When he passed, they pushed him through the hall. They rang a bell. Everyone, doctor, nurse, and patient alike stopped to salute. Patients, that were able, came and lined the hallway. It was beautiful and serene. It gutted me. He was my favorite person in the world. RIP Kenneth Wayne Bavis. I love you my big brother and my best friend.
We call that a “Final Salute” at the VA. It’s an honor and privilege to be a part of. -VA RN and Marine Veteran.
I was one of the Starched White Gloves. And it was ALWAYS an HONOR to do my duty to anyone that came home under the Stars and Stripes. Thank you Aaron...
Thank you.
Thank you sir.
No thank you! As someone who had a family member come home in a flag draped coffin in WWII, Vietnam, Korea and the most recent Afghanistan you guys are angels. Not only do you serve our great country you treat our family's heroes with the utmost respect and dignity they deserve.
❤️❤️🇺🇸 God bless you all.
Amen. I've unfortunately seen a few pairs of those gloves fold American flags, the professionalism, dedication, and honor y'all show is truly inspiring. Thank you.
Played at afew of my Brothers Funerals. I Miss you guys. Your Smartass comments, laughs, crude humor. ...Love y'all. That November night in Fallujah-Al-Fajr was a horror that is imprinted in my mind. I remember, constantly, playing over & over our good times, contact times, and plenty of others...You are NEVER from my thoughts. I get to grow old and enjoy the things we all 4 should be together....Our Kids, Wives, & Families. But, I know you 3 know I come to see you often...have a beer & talk. Why I'm here is only something that God knows. Semper Fidelis ! Luke, Tony, Steve.

I know this comment is 5 years old, but I couldn't help but reply. I want to thank you and your fallen brothers for your service. You're all Heroes. I really hope things are going well with you and your family. I can't imagine what you went through, but I think I speak for the majority of the people in our fine country when I say Thank You for the sacrifices you've made so we can be free and chase our dreams. No matter how you feel about it, just know that we are grateful for you and your brothers.
It’s Father’s Day, and my most prized possession is my dads folded flag
Mine too
Please know that i thank you dad and all veterans for paying the ultimate price so that we can live it the most beautiful world from you little brother in Canada 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
All of my males in my family, the Johnson's, they served this great country. Also, my son in law and my grandson. GOD BLESS ALL TO THE ONE'S THAT SACRIFICED! AMEN! Much respect!
This is why we stand. Hooooah!
Army?
Yeah f..k Colin K.
Amen brother
Gotta let everyone know you're in the Army. Probably wear your dog tags on the outside of your shirt too.
Amen
A lot of Aaron's songs and passion has helped me thru tough times. I'm a retired veteran 100% VA disabled... Been to 3 concerts and 1 meet and greet. He signed my favorite hat and now I hate wearing it because I don't want to mess it up, but I figure why not. Life's too short. Seen too many brothers and sisters fall. Love hard live happy
lee martin I know it thrown around far too often, but thank you for your service. My 19 yr old son is a Marine and I have never been prouder of him. Service members are the true heroes. Again, thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
I get the honor to be one of the many service members to fold a flag for those who have departed.
To give this symbol of freedom to a loved one of a fellow fallen brother or sister feels sacred to me. This song captures many of my thoughts for those who gave all to serve this great nation. Each and every sacrifice for freedom is sacred, and we remember them. We also remember the ones that are left to carry the torch of freedom and their memory to our grave. You're never forgotten.
Wrote one of these as so many did. I thank the lord it never got sent and it went up in flames. Raise a glass to thos who's letters got sent. RIP SSG Johnnie V. Mason. MA1 John Duangdara. And all the other patriots who offered the true sacrifice. You'll never be forgotten.
Amen Brother.
Wish Aaron Lewis Made an Album Full of Only Acoustic Versions of his songs! His voice is one if not the best male vocalist I've heard!
Aaron Lewis is great but, Chris Cornell and Layne Staley are better in my opinion!
correction: WERE better...
Chad Rossco p cotrain
I disagree...it’s a very good game but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
Josh Mcguire Just because they both have passed away doesn't mean that their music and voices don't last forever! So when I listen to them or Aaron Lewis in my opinion they are better!
Just imagine a couple of Albums with nothing but his guitar and voice! No annoying disrespectful audience talking and all other crap ruining the music while h plays! Just raw acoustic singing! That's all I want lol.
So tnkful I was raised Military way. Tnk u Mom & Dad 🇱🇷❤️
As a marine mom this song touches my heart! Such as selfless act for humanity for man to offer up his life for his brother and country! Thank you semper fi
Thank you for your Service
God bless you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello Pamela, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
My father's flag sits on my mantle. My family and I see it everyday as a reminder of his service and all the men and women who have given us our freedom. It is not free the things we take for granted, it was paid for by all that sacrificed for it. So we all owe a debt to those that paid that bill.
LOVE YOU AARON LEWIS, ONE OF THE TRUE ARTISTS LEFT IN THIS COUNTRY !! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN LIVE, GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY 🇺🇸🙏
Hello Tiger Diga, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
Served 21 year, upon retirement I joined the American Legion and was a member of the honor guard, we performed hundreds of honors, choked up at every one of them.
God Bless US ALLL!!!!
My grandfather served in Vietnam him and my grandmother were young loves married young and she was pregnant and he died in action at 21. With my mom being his 6 month old baby. This song speaks volumes. My grandmother lost the first love of her life that day, and now years and years later is losing her second love of her life to lung cancer but we aren't giving up yet !! America Strong.! 🇺🇸
This IS one of my favorites from you! As a child of a two time over Vietnam veteran who’s father proudly served in the marines and then returned home to BE the marine who presented the folded 🇺🇸 to the family members of the fallen soldiers, I AM PROUD and get goosebumps every time this song starts and tears by the end of the song. Thank you Aaron for performing this masterpiece of a song. May God continue to bless you sir in your career.
This is why we stand and hold our hand to our heart for the national anthem instead of nealing down
Aaron Lewis should have a Giant, Monstrous, Huuugggee Gathering every year. Well it'll be to honor our Troops current & past and A.L. should headline and be honored as well. Millions would attend,it'll be beautiful!
Thank you all for your service. My Dad Marine Corps Vietnam Vet. My Paw Paw Marine Corps. WW 2 Vet . Respect.
Glenn Landry 🙏🏼🇱🇷
God bless all our heroes.
Hello Kimberly, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm David from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? You seems like a real Country girl😊🌹
FOLDED FLAG HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST HEART FILLED SONG AARON HAS EVER DONE GOD BLESS YOU AARON
My husband and I got married straight out of high school. One month later he left for basic training. He retired after very close to 30 years active duty. He is still working for the military but as a civilian. This song touches my heart so much, so many nights I’d cry myself to sleep praying he’d come home safe. Most your songs touch me in some way, but this one, wow…..
God Bless the men and women who have and will have stood for our amazing country and given all. And for the ones who return our debt to you is not done in honor of what you and the ones not coming home have done.
I THANK YOU.
ALL THE LOVE.
Got dads folded flag and his navy blanket from boot camp in October 1942. Cherished forever. Miss ya dad.
As a vet I don't cry much anymore but this came real close
that was an amazing song. I have my fathers folded flag and my wife's cousin too. I wish more artist would start their concert w the pledge. I have my fathers name in a dog tag draped around an American eagle with the American flag behind him and my best friend name too as a tattoo tribute on my right arm . God bless our soldiers and this country.
Wow, what a true Patriot! I am not a military wife, but I am a sister and a daughter of ones who have served. God bless him!
You have made a lot of incredible songs... but this one takes the cake. Walking through an airport on Memorial Day thinking of fallen friends I randomly click on this .... no words. Thank you. There are many souls singing this with you. Thank you.
great song
Besides being retired Army, I am a Post Chaplain in the VFW! I have presented more folded flags then I care to count over the past several years!!
I miss you so much Dad, and Chris, and Steve , you packed up and came home ,...RIP you will be missed forever and a day.
That's one well loved guitar
I wish men, with the conviction of those in folded flags, still represented our country!!
Aaron as a retire Marine combat veteran of over 30 years this song truly hits home with me. I have seen too many of my brothers and sisters never come home. Have seen the way that people treated veterans when they came home from Vietnam to the way they were treated after desert storm till now. Anyone who has worn the uniform should be treated proudly by those that they have protected, and kept safe. The men and women who do this are proud of their Flag, their country, and for what it stands for. If not for these men and women in uniform there would be no freedoms, no rights, all would be lost. Freedom is never free but it's paid for in the pain and blood of those who serve this country. Till this day I would still fight and if need be die to keep this country free even as an old man. I took an oath and it had no end date.
As a veteran I really appreciate this song, crazy how talented he is not only his voice but his writing skill also. Love how he is all for the military and veterans. Not many celebrities are these days. Thanks Aaron
He's extremely talented and a great songwriter. But his guitar player wrote this one
Every Friday night on the square we remember our fallen with taps. Those who carried the weight of that flag are always loved, forever honored, never forgotten. God bless our service members who selflessly gave their all. ✝️🇺🇸
I'm Polish and can't stop listening to this song! What an emotional text. Such a sad but beautiful song.
My best friend my stepdad but my real dad I’m grateful for how he taught me about faith and love and respect 🙏❤️💯🦸🐻🇺🇸🍀
ALOT of MILITARY in my FAMILY and so PROUD of THEM and ALL THAT HAVE SERVED THIS COUNTRY...
😥 one of the hardest things I ever had to do was sit down and write one of these letters. There really isn't anything that compares emotionally to writing your goodbyes down to your family. Telling your mom and dad that you hope you've made them proud. Asking for their forgiveness. Telling your son that you will always be there, and to not give up and to remember the things he's been taught as to what it means to be a man.
Absolutely one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Not as hard as promising my brother that I'll bring his letter home to his wife, and hold her as she completely breaks down. There is no strength a man can have that can keep him from breaking down with her, while she holds their babies in her arms, crying out that daddy loves them, but won't be coming home. That, that was the hardest thing ever. 😭😭😭
Joe W. 🙏🏼🇱🇷😢🇱🇷🙏🏽
America stand united and America stand as one. If you have no depth to this song then your life is dull and void. Too many have given their lives for naught yet greed. But yet they still stood for what they believed in and gave their lives for ours. Damn right America all day. We will always ALWAYS stand tall and right for what we have and believe in!! I love my country still.
I am an ARMY veteran, and I wanted to say thank you for this intimate song. It makes me proud.
~ Sadie Ball
holy crap, dude. Not an american, don't live in the States but this song means so much. Just beautiful. God bless Aaron for doing this and all the soldiers and their families.
My fucking hero since '97. I was 19 I'm 46 now and he is still the gold standard in my eyes. So here's to 27 years of AFL and hopefully 27 more!!!!
Amazing this is why I joined the Army. Unfortunately I got injured but I’m glad to be here and they didn’t have to bring a folded flag to my parents ♥️ God bless the men and women who are fighting and have fought for this amazing country 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Aaron Lewis has become my favorite artist! I loved him when he was staind....but he is a true AMERICAN PATRIOT!
I can NOT listen to this without tearing up. Reminds me so much of my grandfather. They handed me his folded flag.
I've been part of 2 military funerals the hardest thing I ever did was hand a folded flag to a grieving widow and their crying family it was hard to do and I didnt even know them but I did my duty
I wish there was a ❤ rather than a like. I've seen it too many times. God bless the Flag & those who gave all for it!
Fantastic song! I too served 20 years and have done many a funeral detail. It was a huge honor to do those and very very humbling when I handed over the folded flag to a family member. Unless you've served it's hard to know the rigors of what all of those who have. Family members' who have lost service members, Military spouses, and children know all too well..
Brian Gay 🙏🏼🇱🇷 My Daddy’s flag is on my mantle Thank you for your service Sir🙏🏼 and all the sacrifices you and your family have made 🙏🏼🇱🇷
That hat... believe me, the one you traded for is considered just as sacred as the one you are wearing. I miss you BlackBeard (HSM-51 DET11)
Man he makes hit the heart . Thanks to all the men women who served this country . My prays are to family who has lost love ones serving this country . The red white and the blue
Amen.
True Red, White, and Blue
Man and Song
When I had seen you
You were shining like a diamond in that dress
We were young and in love and reckless
We were just two kids
When I went and signed my name
Now here I am
Just a few months later coming home to you
I'm flying with my brothers yeah we fought real hard
We're all packed up and headed home
And if you are reading this there'll come a time real soon
When family, friends and flowers fill the room
And two men with starched white gloves
Fold the colors 'til they touch
It's probably more than I deserve
But I'm proud to get this much
Sending all the love I ever had
Inside this folded flag
Now look at you
You're roundin' out but babe you wear it well
A little boy or girl it's still too soon to tell
Wish I could be there now to hold you both
And if you are reading this you probably about to cry
Running through your head a questions why
Has two men with starch white gloves
Fold the colors 'til they touch
It's probably more than I deserve
But I'm proud to get this much
Sending all the love I ever had
Inside this folded flag
It will sit here on the mantle
For many years to come
And every time you pass it by
I hope you feel my love
Two men with starch white gloves
Fold the colors 'til they touch
Probably more than I deserve
But I'm proud to get this much
I'm sending all the love I ever had
Inside this folded flag
Sending all the love I ever had
Inside this folded flag
Aaron, as a current active duty Soldier and veteran I just want to say thanks!! I wish the rest of America was proud to be an American and realized what it costs to be free. Keep on singing brother and I'll keep on listening!!
From one veteran to another, thank you. Someday maybe more Americans will realize how blessed we are to be in this great country.
Thank you for your service brother.
I love that you add a steel guitar to this. Grew up with one in my childhood listening to bluegrass. Only 38 but appreciate awesome music! Good job.
Never liked any country songs my entire life, but saw Aaron Lewis live in Bethlehem, Pa and have been listening to his country ever since. This song hits home. Our family has fought or fought and died in every war and armed conflict since WW1 to current.
Thank you for your family’s service to this great country!
@@Countryrebel much thanks
My dad was in the military for 10 years, ha was goon in and out for almost 8 years, and having to just in him hurts me, he missed out almost half of my life, he was out since I was four in 01’-02’ due to the Bush parade in the middle-east! But now I’m 21, having to have a baby that he waited for is amazing, I just hope that he does well with my brother
Song hits home iam us Army veteran, also alot of family are veteran's also God bless America and our veterans
In May I will get to go on the Honor Flight. Sometimes I don't think I did enough to deserve it. But I will be in the company of great people who believe in America. I believe in America. Through my tears I
thank you for another wonderful song. God bless.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL .. HES FANTASTIC ..GREAT VOICE .. MAY THE GOOD LORD B WITH ALL OUR VETERANS .. PAST AND PRESENT !!!
Thanks Aaron. Beautiful. Took me about 2 months for me to listen to this without crying as my son is a US Marine. Want him home safely. Keep up the amazing work.

Im from the netherlands. And from an military family. And this song hits home.
I miss you Uncle!!!!
On I-26 in Columbia, SC a car dealer has biggest tallest flag in our part of the state. Every time I pass I hold a salute for 10-15 seconds thinking it is just me rendering honors. A few days ago I was passing the flag holding my salute I looked to my left there was another fellow holding a salute. We connected for a couple seconds, but It was good to know someone else feels just as strong about our flag. I always like Johnny Cash's Ragged Old Flag and a few lines down below mean a lot to me.
"And she's getting threadbare and wearing thin
But she's in good shape for the shape she's in
'Cause she's been through the fire before
And I believe she can take a whole lot more."
I know the spot, I lived in Columbia for 30 yrs. Went through Ft. Jackson for basic, then off to my unit. When I retired, I came back home to Columbia, but couldn't stay. Too many bad memories. Moved to Chucktown, where we still live
You know the owner of Camping World is fighting Statesville over his American flag flying right? He is a foreigner but refuses to take them down at all his dealerships. He became a U.S. citizen years ago and is willing to go to jail over it. Check it out you will find he is not playing games with Statesville.
Thank you for my freedom I’ll never forget each one of you and your sacrifices
OOOOHHHH my goodness; what tear jerker.
As A Marine veteran, meanwhile not a combat vet I still felt this song in my entire soul and damn near moved me to the edge of tears. God bless my brothers and sisters in arms and bless this man for his love and devotion to his nation and the ones that protect it, Semper Fidelis 🇺🇸
Wow. The words of this song is so amazing!!! How is this beautiful song not mainstream.

For those who can not stand.
You are amazing. A true American. Dude, it's almost November thank goodness. And bow season will coinside.
I would like to thank all the men and women that have served this country for our freedom God bless all them
My hat's off to Aaron as a fellow song writer and proud American this country needs more like him
18 years of service thank you you made this active duty sailor wellup, thank you sir
Another masterpiece
I presented 62 of those folded flags to loved ones, it has a whole different meaning when you present one and receive one
Oh My God! I'm normally NOT a very emotional male. However, this song and Aaron's Patriotism are piercing to any person with ANY sense of God and Country.
Speechless! Beautiful song Aaron.
I have one and sometimes I can't stand to look at it...and it's family..too many memories yet I have it displayed... 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Semper fi fellow Marines, other service members, thank you for your service.
I’m not crying! You’re crying! 😭😭😭
Hell.. I cry over this song .64
This Man is fantastic!!!! His voice is wonderful. I am italian ,from Sicily, Palermo. Very Very special.
This song should be dedicated to the 20 year old Marine who died on August 26th in Afghanistan. I can't seem to find his name, now, in the jumble online, but he was the Marine who had a baby due in September.
God damn't but I'm still mad as hell over that!
Damn is this guy an amazing musician. His voice is unreal
From the moment “mudshovel “ an “just go” hit the air waves he had me . Fan for life brotha
Could Listen To Aaron all day long
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN 😇
