hope we get a mod to balance guns better. because getting ridiculous reload just because the barrel gets longer is just plain wrong. Bigger caliber? other Porpellant? thats reasonable. But the barrel length has nothing to do with the reload
Yeah, I saw on the patch history something about 'nerfing long-barreled guns that were overpowered' and they seem kinda worthless now. Short guns seem totally busted though; quad 15in guns, firing superheavy shells, with fully shortened barrels: 26s reload. The deck pen also gets nuts, so you just shred enemy battleships, while dealing silly amounts of 'partial pen' damage if you're unlucky enough to hit the belt, and you'll still pen fore and aft belts because angles are wonky.
This game makes me wish for the days of Naval Ops : Warship Gunner and Warship gunner 2 on PS2. Someone really really needs to remake those or something similar.
Gas turbines only really work on destroyers or maybe light cruisers; I'm not sure how the math works on it, as, by just reading the tool-tip, it would appear gas turbines is the lowest tonnage per horsepower... I'm guessing they each have different "break points" in the tonnage for when they get crazy on weight and/or efficiency?
It really depends on what percent of the ship is engine. Changing engine tech helps a lot more if you have half the displacement as engine vice a tenth.
it would be interesting to see ships with 6-8 Main Gun Batteries on them. imagine a super Battleship with 32x 20" guns on it = 8x 20" Quads! 32" Turret Face, 24" Turret Top, 18" Turret sides, 10" Turret Rear. backed up by 16x 10" Secondaries = 4x 10" Quads set as wing mounts. liberally dunked in 5" triples everywhere you can stick them. 12" deck, 24" Belt, 12" Fore/Aft Belt 8" Deck extended. 8" superstructure, 24" Conning Tower. all or Nothing or Turtleback Armor scheme. max Bulkheads, all the Anit-flood, the best of everything equipment wise.
Why would barrel length affect reload speed? I understand projectile size, but can't see why making barrel longer would take longer to load, train and elevate yeah but load no ?
Loading requires you depress the gun to access the breach and then re re-elevate so a longer weapon will have a larger moment of inertia and be more difficult to move about like that
You know, I've noticed a very weird thing with my system. UA:D tends to hard crash more often then other games for me (i.e. everything freezes, the speakers make a buzz as if repeating the last instant of sound they got for a second or two, and then the system goes straight to black screen and then restarts, no blue screen or error message). The weird thing is, this also happens for watching videos of UA:D. When I watch videos from Stealth and Munro that are UA:D content in full screen, this can also sometimes (notably less frequently, but still) trigger the same kind of crash. Which is weird. I have played other games that can cause this crash, but they tend to be rarer in frequency. Also most interesting, the crash (both in game, and for videos) only occurs during the battles. Not during campaign map sections or ship design. In the case of youtube videos, this is the ONLY content that causes it too (UA:D videos). And I have watched various other long videos in full screen without issue (i.e. other gameplay from other games, or things like drachnifel's various history lessons on things like how the Hood actually exploded, or why you should abandon all hope if a ship named the Kamchatka is assigned to your naval group). Based on this, my hypothesis is that my particular system has some weird glitch that happens when dealing with graphics after they have been generated, and that UA:D somehow has a high chance of this occurring. Its weird, and just happened to trigger during this particular video, and I felt like yapping about it.
That is very weird! I’ve had the issue you describe when playing UAD (often if I’m recording or streaming) and sometimes when uploading a video but not when playing one.
