The papayas will not survive with out protection from rain 🌧️
They get root rot too easily. They need a raised planter with lots of sand and rock around the rot ball. Definitely use 100% sand perlite rock blend to keep the trunk dry and healthy. Even with frost free winter the cool wet soils give the papaya root fungal infection. A roof over the tree is required for successful papaya

@@nicolassaarni88 Thank you for watching and thank you for the advice. I will take that into consideration. I planted on a mound with 50% sand, but probably not enough. Maybe in the spring. I could plant it in pure sand on new papaya trees. Merry Christmas and happy new year.🎊

I have many years of success with papaya
Mostly dwarf golden Thailand variety. It stays short and every tree is female and bears many fruit at shorty size. I keep them growing in an unheated greenhouse exclusively for rain protection as I never close the sides at all. and in raised planter bed with 100% sand and lava rock.

@Thank you for all of the advice 🙏I love papaya, especially Hawaiian papaya, strawberry, or solo papaya. I am limited on where I could get my papaya trees . What city are you in? What is your growing zone? I would built a temporary structure for the winter to protect my papaya trees, I will built. I will have to look it up Thai golden papaya. I’m heading down to Southern California to some of the nursery after the holidays. if they have it available I will pick it up. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you.🍷

Please manage your trees giving each one a name tag. 🏷️ You will be happy when you finish the identification process.

Thank you for watching🙏. I do have name tags for all of my trees. They are little metaI tags. While video taping I was trying to remember offhand without searching for the tag. Trying to make the video short. Because not everyone is into watching long videos. By searching for the tags It will take more time on the video. I am trying have larger name tags made so it would be easier to see without looking for the tags as the trees getting larger. Something that won't fade in the sun/rain and it would last. I have over a hundred of avocado trees and 40+ varieties of avocados, Florida, California, and Hawaii. Besides avocados, I have hundreds of other fruit trees and berries.

You’re welcome. Your trees look great. I’m happy that they did not succumb to the negative consequences of frost! Your reporting gives me hope for my merely two avocado trees! I’d watch a long video with all the tags nicely placed by the trees. It would be cool!!!! If you need help harvesting the avocados give me a shout!

Five gallon buckets of water can give you a rough idea of how cold it's getting if it can ice up or not on the surface of the water bucket Also the five gallon will give off a slight amount of heat if you put it close to your mango if you don't cover mango. But check the water bucket by 530 to 630 am range.
