Handy dandy, i wanna ask u smth, 2 years ago i went to a guy who repairs ps4, and he repaired my hdmi port, can the hdmi port be repaired twice? I wanna know please cause my hdmi port needs repair again, can it be repaired again?
@@keegan4713 Hi KeeGan, thanks for watching and sending me your question. I would say that most likely the HDMI port can be repaired twice; however, I would qualify that by saying it depends on how well it was fixed the first time. If the HDMI port was replaced by a qualified tech that did not overheat the circuit board (overheating can delaminate the thin copper etching) and properly soldered it, then it can be replaced. I think, though, that it is odd that it would need to be replaced after 2 years--typically most repair depots replace the OEM HDMI port with a much better after market port to ensure longevity. This leads me to speculate about the thoroughness /qualifications of the original repair depot. Maybe contact the same repair center and see if they will do a free customer service replacement or give you a discount for the 2nd replacement. Hope the above helps you; all the best to you, H.D.H. Thank you it work for me...it takes a bit of patience but I got there in the end all you have to do is make the two metal probes are sticking out far enough but not too far so that the HDMI cannot be plugged in

i just took mine to the shop to get the hdmi port replaced for $150. i tried the things in this video but i think my port was completely shot. coincidentally i was getting a video signal until i took off the bottom of the ps4 to blow all the dust out of the fan, and as soon as i hooked it back up i couldn't get a video signal. the guy at the shop still thinks replacing the port will fix it, and i only have to pay if it works. considering i have like 90 ps4 games, $150 is kind of a small price to pay.

Hi there ! Loved the video and the hardwork ! My PS4 Hdmi stopped working for about like 6-7 months before and thunderstorms are quite frequent here. Hdmi cable works fine. Tv hdmi port as well. So i concluded its the problem of the console. And i hope this video helps me because i am really missing my playstation. Will let you know what happened. Im looking forward to your reply and help. Hi Nikhil, thanks for watching and sending me your comments. Yes, I will definitely try to help you out. When it comes to a video input error, it is best to try a brand new HDMI cable as there are small variances during manufacturing and an older cable may have increased tolerances that a new cable does not. Apart from that, you should know that my suggested fix is free and is well worth a try before you try some of the more elaborate and expensive fixes such as replacing the HDMI port on your PS4. If you do try my fix and the 4 steps do not work, try taking your pinky finger and see if the HDMI port moves freely. If it does, you may have a HDMI port that has a compromised soldering connection to the circuit board. Such an issue will likely require a HDMI port replacement. Apart from that you can also send me a CLEAR, well lit, and CLOSE up picture of your HDMI port and I can try to identify any issues before you even try my fix. Hey man, i got the same problem, looked at attempting an hdmi port replacement, then saw your vid. I thort would that really make a difference? FIXED! I didnt have a suitable tool, a sewing needle was too thin and flimsy, so I opted for a piece of garden twine with the end filed off at an angle. Bingo! Just wondering, can I just straight away start with picking the metal without cleaning it with alcohol?

They are 'best practices' and I would encourage you to follow each step, as it will result in ensuring multiple points of potential failure are addressed. If that doesn't work, I would recommend trying to shift the HDMI cable while the PS4 is on to see if the slight adjustment improves the signal (you get something other than just a black screen or 'no signal' on the TV). If that does work, try duct taping the HDMI cable in the best position while leaving the PS4 on for 4 or more hours (the heat may help the solder on the HDMI port), then turn off the PS4 and unplug it for 4+ hours. Try turning the PS4 on again and see if this helps. If it does--great. If it doesn't then, I am sorry but the issue with the PS4 may be more advanced. You may want to try contacting Sony and requesting a warranty repair of the unit, as many people have reported similar problems. Thanks, H.D.H. [: { ].

If your PS4 fell and the HDMI cord was connected to the port it is likely that the HDMI port connection itself has been compromised. My fix is more directed towards HDMI ports that just stop providing a video signal over time. You could try my fix, it would not cost you anything and it takes only about 5 minutes, and it may or may not work. Before you attempt it, however, just try using your finger and see if the HDMI port wiggles or shifts. If it does, then likely the solder connection that connects the port to the circuit board has cracked and needs to be re-soldered. Look for a Sony authorized warranty depot and see if they can trouble shoot it for you. Hope you get it working. All the best to you, H.D.H. [: { ].

Hi Damien Salazar, thanks for watching and sending me a summary of your issue. The symptoms you have described are, unfortunately, common among PS4 consoles. I don't know if it the design or the type of HDMI port that is used. What I do know is that the PS4 and especially the PS4 pro run very hot (just try standing next to one while gaming and you could use it as a space heater). The heat contributes to many issues including the melting of solder and of expanding and contracting metals which makes them more pliable (bendable) and--potentially--more brittle. With regards to your specific problem, please let me know if you have tried my fix. Sometimes the prongs on the PS4's HDMI port become flat and can't hold the HDMI cable centered or properly connected to the center piece and you get 'No signal error'. If that doesn't work, try cleaning the HDMI cable and the metal pieces inside the HDMI port with a thin cotton swab and rubbing alcohol [BE GENTLE] (heat increases the oxidization of most metals so sometimes oxidized connections can cause the no signal error). Last, see if moving or shifting the HDMI cable while it is plugged into the PS4 improves the signal. If it does improve the signal, then try using something to prop the cable into the position that provides the best signal and then leave it on, after 4 hours, turn it off and unplug it, and let the PS4 cool. This may help shift the solder next to the HDMI port pins enough to re-establish a better connection. Last, if nothing else works, use your finger and see if the PS4 port wiggles when you put pressure on it. If it does, likely you need to have the HDMI port replaced. I bought a new cable and did the 7 second reset and and changed the resolution. I hit automatic and it goes back to no signal. Tried different inputs as well

This worked like a charm! The only thing I did different was that I used a sewing needle instead of a toothpick or metal pick tool to prop up the "prong pieces" in the HDMI port because it was thinner than the pick tool, and stronger than the toothpick. The toothpick wasn't strong enough, and it was breaking at the tip when I put to much leverage on it. The metal pick tool wasn't thin enough, and I couldn't slip it under the prong. The sewing needle worked phenomenally! I was back to playing it that day. Thank you so much for making this video HDH. Literally saved me from buying a crappy used PS4. 👍👍

When I try to prop up the metal prongs, the HDMI cable doesn’t go in. I lower them a bit but it still says no signal. What should I do ?

Remember that it is sliver of metal and you just need the center area of this sliver pushed up so that the rounded area of the sliver permits a tight but unobstructed path for the cable. Hey HDH, I'm not sure if this video is my problem exactly but I seem to be having some display issues myself. My PS4 showed no signal to my TV, but i managed to get it to display on my monitor. However, the colour came out weird. The display has got a red hue about it, and colours aren't right. I think this may be an issue of the hdmi port or broken graphics but I'm really hoping this fix works. If not, do you have any idea what my problem may be?

I have had some viewers comment that it fixed a 'green and red' coloring issue with their PS4. It is, of course, also possible that your graphics card is malfunctioning; however, it would be prudent to start with the 'free' non-invasive fix first and then progress to more involved repairs. Just be sure to use a new HDMI cable and ensure that the thin metal prongs are gently nudged up from their rounded middle areas--not the very tips which could snag on the HDMI cable when you push it in. Hi bexwy, thanks for watching and sending me your question. Assuming you don't have an alternate source for audio, I think what is happening is that there is an incomplete HDMI connection. To improve the connection, I would first try propping up the prongs (like I have shown in the video), the second thing I would recommend is replacing the HDMI cable with a brand new cable, third, I would switch the HDMI cable to a new input on your TV. Last, if all the above do not work, turn on COD wait for it to fail (with the blank screen but with audio) then try shifting the HDMI cable when it is inside the PS4 port (gently!) and see if the slight movement improves the connection or re-engages the video. FYI: the HDMI port/cable is designed to transmit both Audio and Video. So my thinking is that if you are getting audio then there is a connection but it is very weak. My son's PS4 worked initially for about 6 months then stopped (without us moving the PS4, but with my son removing the HDMI cable) because the PS4 froze. We did the fix and I told him to never remove the HDMI cable and the fix has been working for over 11 months now. I need to know, do you move your PS4 often or do you remove the HDMI cable and re-plug it in to different monitors? This may be the reason why the fix works but then stops working. If after repeated successful tries, it stops, working, I hypothesis that the HDMI port on your PS4 may be experiencing metal fatigue and the thin strips of metal are not able to 'bounce' back as resiliently as they did in prior fixes. Sometimes heat can give metal back its resiliency, but trying to get a heat source close to the HDMI port is going to be challenging without opening it up. You could try a very thin, micro soldering iron, but only provide the heat for a few seconds, as you don't want to melt anything or de-solder the component. Hope the above helps. I got my ps4 hdmi port repaired last year since it had a hdmi port issue before but once I got it fixed it worked for a few months until it started to not work again, it basically works for a couple of minutes and then it goes off so I have to remove the cable and put it back in again for it to show a signal.. From what you have described, it appears the integrity of the HDMI port to circuit board connection is still good; however, there is a 'looseness' or compromised connection between the HDMI port and the cable. I suggest the following: 1) buy a brand new HDMI cable and replace your existing cable. Try this for a while and see if it resolves or reduces the number of times you have to remove your cable, 2) If that doesn't resolve the issue, try the fix I have recommended in my video, or at minimum look inside your HDMI port and see if the thin metal strips are level with the outer metal sheath or slight protrude towards the center of the port. Hi h2l2y x, thanks for watching and sending me a summary of your issue. The fact that you have tried multiple cables means it likely not a cable issue. Also, the fact that you were able to some video contact when you moved the cord around, does give me some hope that your issue may be addressed. 1) clean the newest HDMI cord you have with isopropyl alcohol, 2a) make sure the metal strips in the HDMI port in the PS4 are visible, if they are great, if not complete the fix in my video. 2b) Plug the HDMI cord into the PS4 and the other end into a working TV/monitor port and turn on your PS4 normally. 3) on the PS4 port end, try gently moving the hdmi cable head first to the right, then left, then up, then down all the while looking at the tv to see if there is any change in the video signal (use a mirror on your couch if you are moving the cable from the back of the tv). 4) If any of the directions work, then use some duct tape or masking tape and try to tape the hdmi cable head in that exact position. 5) Play with your PS4 in a video intensive game--one which makes the fans turn on loud for about 3 hours (this will heat everything up including the HDMI port and the cable). Then 6) turn off the PS4 as you would normally and let it sit for 24 hours. Last, 7) try to gently take the duct/masking tape off and turn on the PS4 and see if it works. I understand you are having difficulty with the thin metal prongs. 1st: remember NOT to touch anything in the center of the HDMI port. 2nd: If you pushed the outer thin pieces of metal too much toward the center, then gently push them down with a little bit of bouncy motion using a pick or a long thin pin/needle. 3rd: remember that the front edge of these thin metal pieces needs to be flush or nearly flush (only the center circular bump should be protruding slightly upward) with the outer casing of the HDMI port. My PS4 hdmi port has been replaced and for months it was doing fine, PS4 did not drop or nothing. Also it was barely touched if at all...the port also appears undamaged...the pins are perfectly fine. I don't know why it's a bit loose though literally nothing happened to it🙁 I've had my PS4 since I was 13/14 when it came out and since then it has gotten the most beats out of it. Yet since I've gotten it fixed it has been safely taken care of..Is there any tips on what It can be? I'm reconsidering on getting the PS5 due to Sony's errors.

My top suggestions to you would be the following: 1) replace the HDMI cable with a brand new cable (cables have metal connectors and these connectors can become looser over time--note that the PS4 runs quite hot and the PS4 PRO even hotter which means all metal parts would be subject to hot temperatures as they conduct heat, this may make the metal more bendable and or looser); 2) use a different HDMI port on your monitor or TV (this is in case the TV is the source of the issue); 3) Use a bright light source and a magnifying glass to carefully inspect the HDMI port behind the PS4. Compare its appearance to another HDMI port that hasn't been used (check on maybe a video card or even on a laptop) and see if in fact the middle brass area is as clean as a new port and also check if the metal prongs push up as much as they need to. With my son's PS4 PRO, I performed the repair once, it worked for about 6 months, and then I had to do it a 2nd time. It was the 2nd time doing it that made me make the YT video. If that doesn't work, you may have to use a long needle or a long pin, if you don't have metal pick like the one I used in the video. You will know if you have 'propped' them up enough when you can see them protruding about 1-2 mm away from the metal that surrounds the HDMI port. If you want to be really precise, you can look at prongs in the port next to the HDMI port (AUX) and prop up the HDMI port prongs about half this height. Hope this helps. All the best to you, H.D.H. The HDMI port has a metal casing (grey colored) with a center bit (black or dark colored). The center area seats into the HDMI cable. There are two tiny metal strips that are supposed to provide a bit of tension to the HDMI cable when it is placed inside the PS4 HDMI port that are located on the outer casing. Sometimes (more like typically) these metal strips bend towards the outside (i.e. away from the center of the HDMI port or away from the HDMI cable that you stick into the port). My fix in the video explains how to gently move the strips back in place so that they can provide the friction to the HDMI cable that has been lost. Note: be gentle, use a pick, or a long pin and only push up until you see a little hump for the HDMI cable to slide against (DO NOT push the strip all the way up--this will mean that the HDMI cable edge will snag on it). My boyfriends old OG first ever PlayStation needs the cord to be propped at an angle like earbuds. He said one of the “prongs” are splintered from taking the cord in and out for four years straight taking it to his grandmothers and back. I’m not sure how to fix that because that’s gonna be my PS4 soon.

If one of the metal strips along the outside perimeter of the HDMI port is damaged/broken, then altering the angle of the HDMI cable entering the port may assist. To be clear, note that the pins/metal strips that I am discussing are the ones within the metal casing that surround the center pin. Do NOT touch the center area of the console HDMI input. The two thin metal strips/pins along the outside casing should protrude a little, like two small hills on an otherwise flat landscape. If you can't see these protrusions then bending them gently back until you can see the 'hills' will help position the HDMI cable into this port. If you need any further help, let me know. From what I have heard from you and others in the community, the adjustment of the cable that enables a good signal is the sign that there is poor contact between the HDMI port and the cable or worse poor contact between the HDMI port and the electronic board in the PS4. I would do the following: 1) check and see if the HDMI port on the PS4 wiggles or wobbles--if it does, then the PS4 HDMI port may have loosened contacts on the internal board. 2) If that is not the issue, try my fix that I outlined in my video, that may solve the poor connection issue, 3) I would also check the TV HDMI port just to make sure that it and not your PS4 is not faulty, 4) If all else fails, jerry rig the cable in a position (with masking or duct tape) that provides a solid signal, play on the PS4 for a good 4 hours to make it nice and hot, and then turn it off normally, and unplug it. Wait 24hrs and then remove the tape. See if that helps your PS4 maintain a better signal. If the above suggestions do not work, you may need to contact Sony to get the contact information for a warranty authorized repair depot near you. I can’t really tell if my PS4’s HDMI port is damaged or not. I bought a new HDMI cord to see if the problem was the cord. The PlayStation screen still did not appear on my TV after I used the new HDMI cord. If the actual HDMI port is wiggling (meaning when you gently move it with your fingers, it shifts) this is a serious malfunction of the HDMI port. Basically, the solder which hold the HDMI port in place or the brackets that affix the HDMI to the board inside the console are compromised. You will need to contact Sony and see if they will cover it under warranty. If the unit is out of warranty, ask Sony for a factory authorized repair shop that can replace the port for you.
