Ooooohhhhh Dilly.. that crumble is amazing.. I asked the lady for everything on it !!. .. and I got the Large !! But you can get a smaller one for about.. £6.. incredible.. thanks for watching 😁🇬🇧👍gotta try it
Good point about Old Spitalfields having previously been “rough and ready”. People watching videos about these daily standing street food markets probably don’t realize these places, as currently organized and run, are usually less than 20 years old. I was on a University course in the mid-90’s where I had to spend a few days at Southwark Cathedral doing research. When it was time for lunch we’d find a local pub. No one ever said “let’s go next door to Borough Market”. If you’d said that your colleagues would have said “what are you having, a head of cabbage?” Wasn’t long ago that the only places to eat in these markets were the trader’s cafes. Anyway, thanks for another great vid!
I’d have gone for the pork belly bun, too. Some comments mention the prices being high. I suppose so, but in my case, I’d be a tourist with limited time and would like to go to a place and be able to try some different things. Maybe one day I can do my part to help out the local economy. Dessert looked descrumptious.
The pork belly bun was deeeeelicous Stu !!! Yes london is very expensive... more than Vegas probably !!! But I still like to try everything !! Come and vist oneday.. your love it !! Cheers for watching 😁🇬🇧👍
Wow how big is that place.. I’m going to have to have a few days just touring food markets I think.. can you think of anyone that might show me around?? 😂
@@LOADEDLONDON-yi7ey 😂cheers buddy.. be nice to get down there for a few days.. been a few years since I last visited.. stayed at Tower Bridge hotel for about £100/night.. more like £200 now the rob dogs.. rat pit in Victoria is £100/night WTF!
@stuartpritchard7999 yeah everything is so expensive now... but worth a blow out if you can afford it now and then.... hope your both well Stu... take care mate 😁🇬🇧👍
The humble crumble looked epic! I haven't actually tried it yet (I know, I know...). Was that the regular crumble you had? Speaking of must have market eats: Have you tried the duck confit roll at Le Marche du Quartier in Borough? My days, it's something else.
That was the big portion Darcy... with all the extras !!! Will look out for the duck place when I get there ... for sure.. thanks for watching and commenting... I appreciate it 👍🇬🇧😁
Ha ha as it started I said " Blimey used to be well scruffy there, it's been gentrified" then u said exactly the same thing 😂😂 Nice grub, good to see sri lankan, used to live there, miss the food😋😋 Oh the great British fudge co.. how did u pass by, they're amaaaazing. Loving these vlogs, great job mate x
Love a bit of Sri Lankan food Spooky !! Yes it's changed a bit from 20 years ago .. all trendy now !! But worth a visit ... thanks for watching.. see you soon 😁🇬🇧👍
Let's talk about prices, please. The only thing that looked reasonable was the Jollof rice the rest looked nice but really poor value. I have a big issue with Humble Crumble, I am sorry mate but a tenner for a dessert in a cardboard pot, nah.. don't care how good it is, you don't pay that in most posh restaurants.Love that market but keep me hands in me pocket. Just down the road is Up Market, much more reasonable and delish food from all over the world but go hungry most of the portions are substantial. Also on the corner from the market is Poppies Fish and Chips, not to sit in, it's expensive but they've a takeaway and their chips are always fresh, and piping hot and an open portion eaten with your hands as you walk about is a great treat. Most people salivate with the smell of the chips and malt vinegar. and cheap as chips as well..
Come on john ..push the boat out mate !!!! 🤣🤣 the rice was delicious and good value definitely.. but I'd happily pay £10 for the crumble .. not cheep I know.. but absolutely delicious.. go on I dare you !! Thanks for watching mate 😁🇬🇧👍
@@LOADEDLONDON-yi7ey I sound like an old skin flint misery I know..lol To be honest I have tried most of what's on offer even Humble Crumble, believe it or not, was £7.00 then. I was a Street Trader on Whitecross st for 14 years till covid. Sold my homemade cakes made in my kitchen. London/Irish bakes like Bread Pud, Tottenham cake, Rock buns and the like, never charged more than £1.50, in fact I will have a stall on Ezra St, back of Columbia Rd this Sunday coming, sell mostly me jams and marmalade and soda bread. So, when I see the prices charged these days, and I know rents and overheads are high, but some are taking the proverbial, as I know how much it costs to make. Love your posts though.
I need to come to your stall and buy a few bit... definitely mate.. you there most weeks ? That was the biggest crumble they do .. im a greedy bustard!!!😂 the normal size was £ 6.5. I think ... appreciate you watching and commenting mate ...cheers 👍🇬🇧😁
I work down the road from here. Great place to visit and have a wander but the food is overpriced trendy nonsense that's just average. Borough market is better for food but packed and nowhere to sit!
You've got to come out of the market hall and into the surrounding side streets. Lots of hidden squares, mini green spaces, benches etc. It's amazingly roomy for the city of London.
