Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

From 1987 on, Pink Floyd played 3 songs as their encore for every show. This particular concert, the encore was Wish You Were Here first, then Comfortably Numb, then Run Like Hell. A few times during this tour, WYWH was played during the second set, and was replaced by either Hey You, Marooned (twice), or One Slip (once).

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.
So comfortably numb is half way through the album The Wall which was originally a film staring Bob Geldof which is a film about Greed and depression. You will not be surprised I'm another Pink Floyd and Ren fan. 😁
Nope. "The Wall" album is the original work. "The Wall" is first and foremost the greatest concept album of all time. The movie released some years later is a somewhat mediocre Hollywood adaptation of the original double album many consider to be a masterpiece.
No bling, no screaming, no shouting, no jumping around, no swearing, just Gilmore dressed like he’s about to take the dog out for a walk and he pulls the soul out from your body and releases all that you’ve been feeling in the darkest of times. When there’s no more lyrics, the guitar has the final word.
Good on you guys for stepping out of your lane. There is actually a synergy between rapping over and playing a solo over a beat. It was not the last song, they usually ended on an upbeat song. In this case a track called ‘Run like Hell’. For some more classic Gilmour guitar from the same gig check out the track ‘Sorrow’.
It’s like when you’re a kid and your mum calls you using your FULL name. And you’re thinking “Is it really a telling-off name offence?” And the answer is YES!
It's hard to react to Pink Floyd because most people just zone in and check out for the length of the song. Their sound is beautiful. That being said...the chemistry between you two is just so much fun. My new favorite channel.
' Coming Back To Life' , 'On The Turning Away', 'Dogs Of War' 'Another Brick In The Wall', etc etc etc...These types of requests will build your viewers ;) Lotta PF fans that enjoy others finding them...btw, the lights shift throughout an entire Floyd concert
Yeah lads been waiting for this. Thank you for covering this boys. This was the second to last song. Run like hell was the last one. They have a long list of legendary tunes. Try run like hell from the same pulse concert

The Pulse concerts and tour of 1994 was Pink Floyd's last. Lead vocalist and guitarist David Gilmour just released a new solo album. Now at age 78, he'll be embarking on a two c 14:51 ity tour of the US this month... New York and LA. Probably the last time to see this living legend in person. And yes, he still finishes with "Comfortably Numb".
1st time watching you guys but great job(minus solo interrupt) and this song was not last song played at Pulse. Had to go to concert twice, in 2 different states, it was so good but this was one of 3 in finale but not technically last song. Guys, you need to dip into their catalog. I know your a different generation and different music but the genius of these guys and their musical ability is incomparable! There are 2 kinds of people in this world, Pink Floyd lovers and those that have never listened to them! Start with DSOTM album review! Even on your own. You'll be blown away at the genius of this music! And they were in their 20s when they were making these songs. Great seeing you younger generations willing to learn about great music before your time! It really doesn't get any better than PF!
Proper GOATs. From this same concert, The Great Gig in the Sky is "hold the phone" unique. No spoilers why. Studio tracks, I'd highly recommend Time, as poignant today as recorded in 70's and the absolutely superb Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Love that you covered this chaps. Oh, don't forget Dogs, what a truly special song that is. You're forgiven for stopping the solo, it is fookin' long!
Pink Floyd made complete albums with so many variations in sound and even musical style. IMO, the lyrics, the messages, the stories of their albums are what make their music elite. Their "A list" songs are of course epic, but stories of the complete albums are above and beyond.
Omg! You literally made me laugh out loud telling your bro, NO NEVER PAUSE A GUITAR SOLO!😂 Especially from Pink Floyd. Seriously! And I like everything from Ren, NF, Tool, Fred Again, Prof, Twenty-One Pilots, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, etc. I am just s music lover! You guys are awesome! Loves ❤️ your friend, Mary
Final song at the Pulse concert: “Run Like Hell” - it’s fantastic. If you listen to the studio version of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
At Earls Court, London; 1994. David is lead guitarist and vocalist. David was 48 years old at this show. Please also check out Echoes live at Pompeii, 1971 (when they were young).
The stage was setup as an EYE!!! During the song, the center eyeball starts looking down and then focusing on David Gilmour. Then stop in a Guirat Solo, let alone with such a dumb questions that could have waited. Pink Floyd is all about their stage shows where there are things happening all around the stadium. I saw them live once for their Division Bell Tour at the Oakland Coliseum in the early 90's.. F'in Amazing!!!!
Same concert...Run Like Hell (final song after Comfortably Numb), Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, High Hopes, Coming Back To Life, Sorrow.
pausing a Gilmour solo, is like being awakened from a great dream, and you go and try to recapture that feeling, your pissed at the person that woke you up. YOU SCREWED IT. Your friend, listen to him
Try "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from the Pulse concert. Notice the diamond revealed when the flower was fully expanded in this one? Normally Pink Floyd concerts began with Shine On and ended with Comfortably Numb. Shine On describes the band watching their bandmate and friend Syd Barrett surrender to his LSD-accelerated psychosis. His was a tragic story.
This concert was at Earls's Court. Yes - this was the encore but NOT the last song which was " Run Like Hell " - check it out if you want to see how to leave an audience wanting even more than the encore.
There are three original members of Pink Floyd in this concert: Lead guitraist and singer, David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist, Richard Wright.
This was part of the encore and was the last but one song of the show, the final song was Run Like Hell and is pretty spectacular and a great way to end a perfect live show.
I was there at Earl's Court for this, the entire concert is fire ,this is the 2nd song of a 3 song encore, 1st ' Wish You Were Here ' and 3rd 'Run Like Hell ' ( a must listen) ,if you like guitar solos are your thing then you landed in the right place, may I suggest that you do ' On The Turning Away ' live, it will give you everything you are looking for.
This was one of the three encore songs but, not the final song. Hard to believe they ramped up from this but, Run like Hell was the final song and the show was impressive. I got to go to this tour in '94 in Detroit (Pontiac) at the Silver dome. Incredible show.
You should do Time and Great Gig in the Sky back to back from the Pulse concert as your next Pink Floyd reaction - but if you can't find them together just do Great Gig in the Sky. Lots of people will recommend the studio versions but the Pulse concert is something else!!

When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.
Never had a pink Floyd reaction make me laugh so hard. Good job, lol. Glad you enjoyed. Pink Floyd doesn't play fair. They transcend genre.
NEVER interrupt a solo......
This is not the last song of that concert. The last song was RUN LIKE HELL, visually literally a firework.
Bro!! Never, Never, Never, Stop A Solo, WOW !!
Never stop a guitar solo
Try "High Hopes" from the same concert. Another amazing solo.
Lol, one of the worlds most famous guitar solo. 😂 It is kind of blasphemy to pause it, but you’re forgiven. 😊
Hey Einstein, just so you know the "intro" is the start of the song and the "outro" is the ending.
This was the 2nd, of 3 encores. The WHOLE concert is incredible.
It's hard to react to Pink Floyd because most people just zone in and check out for the length of the song. Their sound is beautiful. That being said...the chemistry between you two is just so much fun. My new favorite channel.
Talks all the way thru this classic, last time i listen to you guys
I was counting minutes to money game 3, this is a stab in my back! :)
Several THOUSAND apologies! It will drop though... We won't make you wait too long
@@thedreadinitpodcast love pink floyd though, so may you be forgiven
@@JK67real Yeah, It's a confusing mix of emotions! Excited disappointment!?
@@JK67real ditto!
@@izzybca lol we aim to confuse 😂
It was the second of 3 songs of their encore. Run Like Hell was the final song. I saw this concert at Vanderbilt Stadium in 94. Absolutely amazing
The encore was "Run Like Hell". Epic. And ALL of Pink Floyd is elite shit.
Yasssss! One of the greatest songs ever written
You NEVER interrupt a guitar god when he is in mid creation.
Yeah lads been waiting for this. Thank you for covering this boys. This was the second to last song. Run like hell was the last one. They have a long list of legendary tunes. Try run like hell from the same pulse concert
was the last song of the second set. There was an encore, that ended the show, "Run Like Hell", that is truly truly epic.
They pull out ALL the stops for that one 💗
So much respect for understanding the sanctity of the guitar solo, and for so much sass 😂
the encore song was "Run Like Hell" and it is specatcular
This was the first finale. They came back out to do a couple more. Last song was Run Like Hell. Well worth you guys checking out, as well.
SINCE YOU INTERUPTED SOLO TWICE , I DID CHECKOUT SONG YOU MENTIONED AND IT WAS STOLEN NOT SAMPLED BECAUSE NO COPYRIGHT CLEARANCE FROM WRITER GILMOUR NOR THE LABEL WAS REQUESTED.. LETS SEE WHAT THE RECORD LABEL WILL SAY AND THEY WILL CHECK GILMOUR.....
Well guys you did not disappoint.
I enjoyed your reaction like all the ones I watched so far.
They where huge and still are. Very, skilled musicians and very innovative at the time.
Try Money for a another one.
Keep it up, cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎
FYI. David Gilmour was 48 in this video.
Younger than Jimmy Fallon, Mario Lopez. I don't know what the hell these guys are talking about.
An epic performance from the same concert is "High Hopes", I think everyone can relate to the message of that song and it has another epic solo.
How nice, first Ren and nie Pink Floyd?
Puu, I am thrilled, what a treat👍
Very exited! Thank you, cheers from Berlin
👍🍀😎
R.I.P Richard Wright
David Gilmour was not an original member of Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd are amazing. From a hip hop fan
I'm on a bus watching this. I think every passenger heard my loud intake of breath when you almost paused😂
This was one of the three encore songs but, not the final song. Hard to believe they ramped up from this but, Run like Hell was the final song and the show was impressive. I got to go to this tour in '94 in Detroit (Pontiac) at the Silver dome. Incredible show.
"Learning to fly"... live is rarely done... and OUTSTANDING. The song is more up-beat, and the lights, etc. do some unique and fascinating stuff.
This concert is the best live concert ever.
Played 15 nights in a row, to a lot of people, thousands
SOLD OUT EVERY NIGHT
GODS ❤
You should do Time and Great Gig in the Sky back to back from the Pulse concert as your next Pink Floyd reaction - but if you can't find them together just do Great Gig in the Sky. Lots of people will recommend the studio versions but the Pulse concert is something else!!
So much of Floyd’s music is amazing. If you want more live music, check out Echoes Live at Pompeii. Echoes is from the Meddle album 1971.
