Very good film, brings back a lot of memories as I used to work there from 1986 -till the end!, so sad, since then retired didn't realise "The Ship (In The Hole) Pub" has also been demolished, many a Friday afternoon get together after work.
Very well made informative film. I worked at Swans on the Esso Northumbria, Esso Hirbernis, London Lion, Vistafyord, briefly on HMS Bristol and a few other cargoe vessels. Served my time at the Wallsend slipway. To this day (I am now 77) I willl not trust politicians one inch! Choices were made to suit the pockets of our masters and just as in Palmers shipyard in Jarrow decades earlier, thoose choices were to suit the money dealers...pride, employment, loyalty mean nothing to that class of people. I wish I was back in the yards. Yes it was low paid and dangerous and unsung but I was proud od the ships I worked on. Brian...an old,old plater from Wallsend.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this comment and share the memories of the ships you worked on. It's great to hear first hand from those that worked there.
Really enjoyed watchining this! Looking forward to future uploads 😄
What a fantastic film, very informative, I had not realised they built ships for some of the countries mentioned. A sad loss to the Tyne.
What a fantastic, informative film this is. Looking forward to more films from this channel.
Thanks for the support, more to come soon
