@@hmahdavi Oh I'm sure they have, just not on camera. Again, she spoke the truth about the state of the team. No coincidence that they just so happened to failed reaching at least the semifinals for the first time in USWNT history.
While doing so, she also carefully avoided being drawn into a personal fight with Lloyd. Interviewers sometimes like to promote that kind of drama and Midge didn't bite. Good for her.

The pay to play system is hurting the USA both on the men's and women's side of the game because unlike other countries the best athletes are still not playing soccer here because they can't afford to.
Honestly, its the same system for all our top sports. I grew up playing basketball and to play the best players you have to play in AAU which is just as expensive as paying club soccer.
@@LJ_S1K shoot not even just the top sports. Have you seen how much it cost for girls to play volleyball? It's just the American way. Everybody wants their cut. And I'm not even talking about the clubs. Every entity that profits around youth sports. Especially the municipalities.

The women on past team’s, when MIA. Chastain, Foudi, Scurry, etc fought for better play. The fight that women/minorities have to fight to be treated equally & w/respect. Lloyd takes that for granted complaining that her teammates were protesting for equal rights, gay rights, etc. she just wanted to play soccer. And now she is being a bit full of herself saying the current isn’t good. Well, Carli, don’t forget the battles fought by your mates, past & current.
She's a legend, a winner, and she's correct on many points, but Carli Lloyd also hates on anything where she's not the center of focus. I just said what many are reluctant to say, sorry not sorry
We knew what the quality of the rest of the world. What we also knew was that Vladko was the wrong coach and completely messed up the team. I'm hoping a new coach changes that, but she has zero international experience so I'm nervous.
It seems more people are fixated on the messenger rather than the message. So many responses attacking Carli without actually addressing what she was talking about. Going back to the start, the whole reason USWNT is as popular as it is now is solely because of the success the ladies have had. They played the game for the beauty/fun of it and for national pride, NOT for the pay or social justice. Those ladies deserver as much, if not more, credit for winning the equal pay fight as anyone who put their name on the paperwork. Carli has been critical of the teams because she does not feel the new generation is as dedicated to the game and nation as they are to personal gains. She is not attacking the players but their work ethics. Some people get defensive and just retaliate out of anger. Some take the criticism and use it as motivation or opportunity to improve. As a coach, you have to deal with different types but the Champions are usually the second type.
Midge was timid in her response to charges made by Lloyd considering Lloyd accused current team of not being up to the task of being champions or having the right stuff.
Carli did not play in that many world cups and Olympic rosters for being an idiot…she knows many things we don’t know about. She’s a legend. Truth hurts but is needed at all times.
She doesn’t seem to care about the success of the team. Carli has always been for Carli that is so obvious if you follow her career, read her autobiography.
She's a selfish narcissist that pouts when things aren't exactly how she wants them. This isn't new info lol. She can be an amazing soccer player and a shitty teammate/person at the same time.
Two professionals from different generations with slightly differing views on the same situation - nothing wrong with that. Carli spoke the plain truth on the state of the team at that time compared with their competition. I think most people agree with that so I don’t know why people think she’s bitter for telling it like it is. Midge should have been on that WC team perhaps instead of Rapinoe who was well past her prime. Not sure if she was injured, but she didn’t make the 2024 Olympic roster either.
I honestly feel like Carli Lloyd needs to ask herself - what happened to her? Why is she angry and bitter at a team that is rebuilding. The team has a right to learn. They're not the same team as the past decade or before. And, her comments don't support growth, it's not supportive or do anything productive. I suggest she get some major therapy and get her own internal house in order. In other words FO.
The Football nations have begun to take notice. The USA could continue to dominate but not without investment at all levels. If the level of investment stays the same then the US women will fall out around the same level as the men. The amount of money invested in Football, especially in Europe is insane. Now that the women are filling stadiums the investment is increasing with the interest. Barca women routinely fill camp nou stadium. The money is noticing. It's not a fluke that Spain won the World Cup.
In short Carli was right. If I was scoring goals in the World Cup final, Olympics final and winning Ballon D'Ors for women footballers and my federation was not promoting me as much as Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, I would be bitter as well.
Midge doens't get it about the development in this country. The rest of the world has caught up and, in some circumstances, passed development in the USA. Dempsey made the point that they pay to play system vs. free play and ways people can advance in other countries national teams is key. pay to play system is killing soccer here in the USA A) because too many club teams have a say who and who doesn't go and B) clubs care about winning over development. two recipe's for disaster and we're seeing the results
