Kundiman has Hispanic flavor to it but its musical nuances and pessimistic-yet-hopeful lyrics is what makes it unique and known only to Filipinos. Sadly very few artists make Kundiman songs anymore. But Juan Carlos is a breath of fresh air reviving this genre.

"Shot puno" is actually a new phrase that has become mainstream... It's a term used when you're drinking with your friends and they're sharing a sad story or they're breaking down, you tell them "shot puno" . Though this is not exclusive to broken feelings, you can also say it when you're just having fun with friends whilst drinking and also when it's your time to take a shot/drink too. "Shot" is self explanatory and "puno" here, means "filled". Like "shot filled" glass.. or the shot glass is literally filled to the brim then you drink it. "Puno" also means tree.. Depending on how you pronounce it, makes the difference. The tree meaning is elongated like "pooooooooooooo-noooooo". While the filled meaning is "poo-no". Let's take a shot Efra.. though I know you don't drink.. but just one shot... And it's "Shot puno!!!!" 🤣
