නිශාන්ත ප්‍රනාන්දු ඔහුගේ කැරම් ජිවිතය ආරම්භ කරන්නේ කුඩා කල සිට ය. ඔහුගේ පියාගෙන් ලද අභාශයෙන් ඔහු කැරම් ක්‍රිඩාවට පිවිසේ. ඔහුගේ පලමු තරගාවලිය ට ඔහු සහභාගි වන විට ඔහුට ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට ඩිස්ක් එකක් පවා නොතිබුනී. ඔහු ක්‍රීඩා කරන්නේ තම පියාගේ මිතුරෙකුගේ ඩිස්ක් එකකිනි. එලෙස අඩු පාඩු මැද ක්‍රීඩා කල ඔහු ඔහුගේ එම පලමු තරගාවලියේන්ම ජයග්‍රහණය ලැබුවේය. ඒ ඔහුට අවුරුදු 11 දීය. ඉන්පසු කැරම් ක්‍රීඩාව තුලීන් දේශිය හා විදේශීය ජයග්‍රහණ ලබා ගත් ඒ මහතා 2012 දී ලෝක ශූරතාවය දිනා ගන්නට සමත් විය. ඔහුගේ සාර්ථකත්වය පිටු පස ඇති කතාව එතරම් සුන්දර නොවේ. ඉහත වීඩියෝව තුලින් ඔබට ඔහුගේ සම්පූර්ණ කතාව රස විදිය හැක.

Nishantha Fernando started his carrom career in his little ages. Inspired by his father, he enters the carrom game. He didn't even have a disc to play in when he played his first tournament. He plays with a disc from a friend of his father. He played in the midst of such setbacks and won his first tournament. That was when he was 11 years old. He then went on to win local and international titles in carom and won the World Championship in 2012. The story behind his success is not so pretty. You can enjoy his full story in the video above.
