  • Bike has +2" handlebar risers fitted and I did not like how tight the original cables were, even when routed on the opposite side of the bike. I originally had a +3" clutch cable fitted but it rubbed the top of the speedo housing. A +4" solves the problem. Cable is from Motion Pro in the USA.

Thanks! It's good to remind us how some of the common modifications (like handlebar risers) require that we think through the impact on the associated systems. This cable information will save some of us quite a bit of time and frustration.

Suzuki ran the cables the right way! It's just changing the height makes a different cable length and run for the clutch required. IMHO :)

Seem to be a simple thing to order some longer cables 3 inches longer for the front brakes and throttle and 4 inches for the clutch but I can’t find any source for longer cables for the DR. Do you mind sharing where you sourced your products?

@@lifelongmotorcycling Thanks, I picked that up from the other comment and gave them a call. Turns out they’re in Loomis California and I’m in Oakland California so they’re about 50 miles from my house.

Right on, you got the part # for the longer clutch cable? I've been looking for a solution as mine is right on the brink of too tight.

There is no off the shelf solution that I know of. Contact Motion Pro in USA and say you want a clutch cable +4" and the OEM number is: Cable Assy, Clutch 58200-32E01. If you want to make 100% sure of the length...run the cable where you want it and measure the gap between the end of the sheath and the adjuster nut on the handlebar. As I noted: 3" was slightly too small but worked, 4" works a treat.

What bars are you using? Are they the pivot risers?

@@rabidwookie606 pro-taper cr-mid and pivot rox risers. Combo works really well.
