Having fled dictatorship in Chile, Allende became an international champion of human rights and feminism.

I just finished reading Violeta 2 days ago, few years before I read Daughter of Fortune, both in the Portuguese version, I'm originally from Brazil. I love reading Isabel Allende's novels. What a nice interview!

Querida Isabel, tuvimos experiencias similares con nuestras madres, y si tienes razón, es un momento mágico, es algo tan precioso y fuimos tan afortunadas de haberlo vivido. Te admiro y te sigo hace mucho tiempo. Un abrazo desde California (Ventura). Tambien veo que tuvimos situaciones similares de violencia en nuestros países. Yo soy de Colombia, igualmente similar es lo que están viviendo nuestros presidentes, al tratar de gobernar con una oposición tan marcada que manipula a la población a través del miedo. Tiempos difíciles pero tendrán que encontrar una salida porque definitivamente so es sostenible.
