    NIO owner here, at 2:18 you could just touch the back end of the handle and it pops out. You can check the tripmeter on the gauge cluster and reset by pressing the center buttom for a couple seconds. Sounds and beeps can be turned off in the menu as well ( something I did to my car). Lastly, the car remembers the user profile by the key/card/phone, you can set it up so that everytime you use the keyfob the car recognizes it's you.

    IMHO People who think you are being racist when you test cars. Are probably racist's. I have been watching you for about 3 years and you are always unbiased. I definitely think the Chinese need to do some work on the software side of things. It's the only fault I can find with my MG4. By the way after two months of real world London driving. I have never been in a more luxry car then a NIO ES8 if you thinck a price up to 100K US. Ita a great car and my ES8 dont behave bad like you show with autopilot in exit& merge. Its holds closed to the left line if you dont have any lines on the right side like at a exit or merger whis is totally understandable. But autopilot has allways rom for improvements. I am surpised that after all new cars you have tested you still dont know how to open door handels :) i like your videos and appreciate your good work.

    for me, battery swap would work only if:
    - the car you buy comes with one battery you own
    - The battery you will get the moment you should opt out of swapping, it would have a minimum guaranteed SOH. Possibly better than what would be with a normally aging battery you own

    24:00 The main appeal for the battery swap system apart from speed of swaps is not during early ownership - it is for people thinking that after my battery warranty runs out I am protected from a major cost of a new battery if it fails then.

    Thank you Björn - I've been griping about power on buttons in EVs for years... like why do you need one?? I test drove the EL7 yesterday and it's now my no.1 choice for my new car in May 24.... I test drove the XPENG just a week ago and that was amazing, but the EL7 - the way it drives - reminded me of my 2019 Model X.... but packed with more features and refinements. Nomi takes some getting used to but after researching the AI software behind her and the sheer size of the R&D group responsible for the Banyan software, plus the very personal service users get... hands down this car wins. Now I was not really understanding the battery replacement system... until it was explained to me that next year the 150kw battery pack was coming to Sweden... and it's a 5 minute job to swap it out. Rumours say this new pack will give over 900km range which is insane. Anyhow changing the battery pack as technology improves, rather than having to change the car makes total sense to me now. The one thing that this car has that I miss in all other cars aside from tesla is the camera system... yes, EL7 has full front and rear videoing and recording!

    regarding the batteries in the swap station pool, NIO has a requirement of battery health level, for any batteries not meeting the requirement will be rotated out of the pool, including major degradation, overheat, etc.. The key is the swap station will run a health check on each battery that comes through them and ensure all batteries are safe. And for those other EV automakers, although they say batteries are under warranty, guess what, i have heard so many cases that EV makers refused warranties on many bad batteries by saying things like: your batter pack is damaged, it is not part of the battery, the wire is bad and it is not part of the battery warranty, etc.. the bottom line is, the EV makers have the final say on what is defined as battery problem.

    • @TB-up4xi
      @TB-up4xi Рік тому

      Not in countries with strong consumer laws they don't. In Australia for example a manufacturer may give a 2 year warranty for a particular part say the main ECU, but if the reasonable expectation is that the part should last longer in normal service then it is deemed not fit for purpose and the manufacturer is forced to repair or replace regardless of their printed warranty.
      Tesla for example provides a full warranty over the entire drivetrain including motors, batteries, cables and everything attached to them that makes the car go of 8 years / 160,000 Klm and minimum serviceable range exceeding 70% of that when purchased.
      If you run over a log in a NIO and physically damage a battery pack they will also refuse a simple swap I am sure.

And most important thing with battery rent is the sale value of the car as the buyer dont need to thinck too much about the degradation of a old car as he/she will allways get the battery in good condition. It bongs like crazy in traffic with the new Tesla Vision distance sensor. It takes an age to get to the set speed in cruise control. It sometimes slows down by a few mph for no reason. Whether Apple Music works or not when you get in is like playing roulette. In addition, since I started driving 34 years ago, out of all the brand new cars I’ve owned over that time, it’s the car with the most rattles. It also has the most paint chips at the front compared to other cars I’ve had and it’s only six months old. The suspension is terrible and crashes over the slightest bump.
