If anyone in charge is watching, thank you. This show got me through post natal depression and now, three years on I have a detector and am extremely happy. It was beautiful, so full of quiet longing. I love it still.
detecting is a wonderful hobby for keeping the black dog at bay , I get so much pleasure from it, just need to learn to ignore the people who stare at you like you are from outer space
The best bit about this show is that it’s never cruel. Not ever. I’m not against more cynical comedies, in fact there some of my favourites. But now and again (especially during lockdown) it’s so refreshing to see somthing utterly good natured. fucking magical.
Yes, you write from my soul, the series has everything and a lot of humor and heart, this is very good for the soul and heart in these difficult times, I would be very happy if the responsible film producers would revive this series again, the spectators would be more than happy.
It's absolutely incredible viewing. I only started last week and am on Season 3 already. It's just amazing to watch and an episode goes by so quick. He is a genius and I can't wait to watch his version of Worzel Gummidge
When poetical storytelling, a love of nature and history, really great cast , mystery and perfect music all come together at one point in time. One of the best programmes ever.
Hello, my name is Martin Schmitz from Germany, and I have never seen such a beautiful, fantastic series as "Detectorists" in my life, these films are so humorous and full of love that one would like to watch all episodes together, it is already like an addiction, but a nice pleasant addiction! I've seen a lot of films in my 54 years, but I've never been more delighted by films like the series "Detectorists", the actors and the script are unique, just close to the life of the simple, that's what makes this series so likeable. "Detectorists" deserves a sequel with new episodes, many people would certainly be grateful for it and these many people are waiting with great longing for a continuation of this unique wonderful series that touches the hearts of so many people! Please consider a sequel, you would make an audience of millions very happy. Kind regards, Martin Schmitz
In case you don't know, in May 2022 Mackenzie Crook announced that there will be a 75 minute long special of the detectorists set to hit screens late 2022!! More wonderful adventures await my friend. I also agree with your entire comment. I'm nearly 40 and to live like these guys and their friends and their awesome little club is a simple yet satisfying life that I would be happy with. A great and quirky bunch of friends who are easy to be around yet a bit cheeky too!
Hello Martin, I am British, and live in NZ now....I too am addicted to this slow paced brilliance, not much seems to happen.....but it creeps up on you and the all encompassing reality...makes me laugh out loud, cry tears, and reflect on life
Yes, in a club like that with friends like that who are a bit bizarre and crazy, the hobby and looking for the detector would certainly be even more fun? I hope a few more episodes will be filmed, maybe in this year 2023, I think it would build on the success of the last episodes, and the fans and viewers would thank the film producers very much!@@onewithsource9742
One day there will be a generation who will wake up and, all of a sudden, realise that good film making is about people and stories, not explosions, car chases, violence and CGI effects!
This is up there with the great .... Fawlty Towers , Fools and Horses , The Office , in fact I'd personally put it at the very top. Thank you for giving us this diamond of a show 👍🍻
Absolutely loved it, everything about it. Mackenzie, if you happen to read this, the world needs more TV like this! Some of the best TV I have ever watched.

Un bijou cette série. Une campagne anglaise magnifiquement filmée, des personnages plus attachants les uns que les autres, une bien belle histoire. Merci à Arte pour la diffusion et à M. Crook pour ce délicieux moment.
Fab show. So well written. Loved the running joke of every job and had he was pushing something back and forward on the ground. Best comedy for 20 years.
Mackenzie Crook has done an absolutely wonderful wonderful job with every aspect of this series! I look forward to every episode, and like "Good Neighbors" I'll be watching them again and again!
My fave series ever! Absolutely genius writing. The more you watch it, the more little 'in' jokes you pick up on. I never get tired of watching it..... a real 'feel good' show.
Incredible show. One of the best things I've watched in a long long time. I can only hope there are more to watch one day! So nice to watch. Just makes you feel nice inside. A pure and utter joy. You simply must watch this.
Mackenzie ~ thank you for creating this ~ fabulous show ~ such a belly larf ~ ( Heard the in the interview with Mackenzie on JJJ FM radio in Australia today ~Weds 20 Jan ) Bring it on !!
I loved the stereo-typing of Andy’s labour hire tasks, where every job involves Andy walking along holding a tool or appliance with a handle and staring at the ground. To me that is genius comedy writing.
Just by sheer coincidence I broke out my old metal detector that I bought back in 1996 and used -12 times. It's been put away since 1998 or so. I powered it on and still works. I just forgot how to use the silly thing. And not soon after that I found this very charming and witty show. We saw Series 1 and loved it. What a heartbreaking S1 finale, the very nice guys missing the treasure. 😢
Someone give Mackenzie a giant budget to make this into a film,BBC seem to be ashamed of this series, because it's about real England, genius! Mackenzie, never stop.
Yes. If it was set in a Celtic nation with a BAME disabled transgender vegan leftwing remainer ex-refugee, it would be at the very top of the BBCs production list. I love everybody, but the BBC equates diversity with patronisation, brainwash, shaming the commoner and favouritism, based on my mandatory licence revenue. FACT

So Mackenzie is a real metal detectorist ,super show Mackenzie you probably know that real metal detectorists love the show for the humour the real things that detectorists come across and deal with and that great theme song that polishes the show .loving series three already.
I really want to become a Detectorist, but living in New Zealand...hmmm. If I lived in the UK, definitely. It's so cool that Mackenzie Crook is a Detectorist himself. What a great series. Very calming in this turbulent world and funny as anything I've seen. Well done Mr. Crook.

Okay, think about this... "The Detectorists" the MOVIE! Screwing up rappelling, confusion with map reading, hell, throw in a Bigfoot sighting. I have a Jimmy Sierra Bigfoot coil from back in 2007, oh sorry it was a mistaken overheard conversation. The possibilities are endless. I would buy the DVD if it would play on a player in the US. Hey, a lot of funny stuff happens metal detecting.
Ive just watched series 1 2 and 3 over the last week and thought it was an excellent show..if i had to pick a favourite character it would be a hard choice between lance and sheila..its made me want to dust of my detector and get back out there..lol
I enjoyed this serie for many reasons, but one that I really liked are the dialogues and 'human scenes'. Now movies need action, visual effects and more action (don't get me wrong, I enjoy an action movie as much as anybody else, but I like to have more options). Where are the dialogues? I'm from Spain and even if we do not have the best cinema we do have some pretty good movies, and they are good because de great perfomancem dialogues and story :3 Like Lunes al Sol or La lengua de las Mariposas. And I really like Crook, he has a place in my heart since I saw him in Pirates of the Caribbean when I was 12 ^.^
Mr. Mackenzie is a bit of a genius I think. I hope the principals involved in this series see the longevity of it....It will go easy 8 seasons. To date there are only 3 with something like a "special" hour and a half program coming up, which I am sad to say will probably be the farewell.
