I moved to Fort Worth from HEB. The East side to be specific. I see growth everywhere, on a large scale. But I still don't see retail and growth on the neighborhood level.The poorer areas are blight, and many of the suburb areas are stagnant. We just got a Starbucks at the Eastchase exit, so I have hope that other mainstream businesses will come and upgrade the area.
Moving back after 6 years. Moved away cause I was finishing my last year of high school in a different city and than moved out of state for two years, and now back in Texas in West Texas. And now I’m moving back and my best friend is stoke cause he misses me living there. I’m still looking for a job in Fort Worth I don’t got a college degree so finding one for the field I want is difficult without it. So I’m going to go through the TWC and get an internship in the field I want, until I get into TCC.
Some schools also host their graduation at the Dickies arena. Northside did this year (or was it IM Terrell?)Well, one of my daughter's friends graduation was held there this year. My daughters high school graduation took place at TCU.
As someone born and raised in DFW, it’s no surprise that people are still flocking to the area. The main reason is the job market, like you stated. My family and I are on the fence of moving to Oklahoma or home to Texas. We spent many years in the military and are now ready to finally settle down. Our main issue is that regardless of the job market, the housing costs are much higher in Texas versus Oklahoma. I’m going into the medical field so I can work anywhere. Being from Plano, it’s hard to argue against the amount of medical facilities in the area. Only time will tell.
Fort Worth has a good deal to offer. I happen to live in Arlington so we are impacted as well. Don't forget the growing financial services industry. I fear that the cost of living and housing costs won't stay "low" for long. The building of new housing within the city is a plus. Dallas is landlocked which limits what it can do. The Stockyard and Cowboy thing is okay, but it is primarily aimed at the tourists. Museums, arts festivals, and the Botanic gardens are great! The zoo, frankly, I like Fort Worth's Zoo far better than the Dallas Zoo. There are now several universities with a presence in the city. People are generally friendly, but it seems the only "Southern" in Fort Worth these days is Southern California according to a Georgia relative.
I think you said the reason why at about 5:20 in the video. Housing cost. It’s no longer cheap, but cheaper than quite a few places around the metro. I also want to point to people watching this video that don’t live in the area. FT worth is a large city and has its own character. With that said, it by no means sit off by itself. It is in the same metro as Dallas and their suburbs all run together! In most areas in East Tarrant county and west Dallas county, you’re really going to enjoy both cities. It’s just one big area with a huge airport departing them lol! Look at a map and you will see what I mean.

And I was born there so it hasn't improved any I'm sure. They're great to visit to party and such but way too over crowded. But in the metroplex, Burleson, Mansfield, Arlington, Crowley, Ceder Hill, Waxahachie, and Weatherford and other suburban areas are great because they're close enough to town without that in town BS. Of course there's a lot of drugs and gang activity in some parts of the metro area. If you want to avoid that don't move here because I do not know of any where that isn't affected by this. But I guess that can be said about anywhere in the world at this point. Fort Worth's best quality is the people are cool and very friendly and helpful, for the most part. Good luck. I work in the tourist industry in Ft Worth. So, people cannot believe how clean downtown FW is in comparison to cities in the northeast or in California.
I came back here in January 1981when the population was under 400 Thousand it has since tripled...it would be ok if the city was twice in land area maybe 600 square miles and had more roads all 5 lanes each side and more freeways all 8 lanes on each side
High school's have the Gold Seal programs, so if your student knows what they want to specialize in, they can apply to go to that school. Its part lottery, part interview process. At least it was for my daughter who is an art major.
Yeah, no one should move to Fort Worth. We have enough people. Lol. Just kidding. I live out in the country near the Southside of the FunkyTown. It's a fun place to live. There's plenty of stuff to do Fort Worth's and the Dallas music scene is always cool. I don't know about the lower housing costs because I don't see it but I do know they've really built up the downtown area with some great apartments and condos. Also the tiny house scene is becoming a cool thing in the suburban areas.

You will be bored to death. People are not moving to Fort Worth. People get trapped in Fort Worth, once they settle, they cannot start somewhere else, because of the investment and commitments, they have already made. If you want to settle in this region, look north of the Metroplex, on the outskirts, near or above Roanoke (northwest) and above Interstate 635 (northeast).
I agree with most of what you say about being trapped/settled, except for the boredom part. there are so many festivals, art exhibitions, brewery trivia nights, city events and cultural/music things going on. and on the smaller levels, there are things like trade days, sister cities events, etc.
i'm black. me and my daughter have done lots of fun things. try looking up 'things to do in fort worth' and there's a calender of events that pop up. comedy, music, festivals, different artists, etc. Also, I discovered the escape rooms and karaoke which I didn't think I"d like, but were both fun. You got to get up, get out, and do something (fun). don't let the days of your life pass by (bored) :)

I guess it is relatively easy to keep surface parking clean. That and the sterile suburb is the "clean" look most post-WW2 Americans love.
For a big city like Fort Worth, I always feel safe walking downtown.
