Landscape Photography | Kynance Cove & Changing Light | Cornwall | UK

- An early morning start at Kynance Cove in Cornwall, United Kingdom proved interesting as the light changed minute by minute. Not the usual early morning shots for a landscape photography and the sea spray proved a challenge but I enjoyed myself.

Nailed it again Paul, the difference between long and slow shutter speed and the changing light all in one video. Well done.
Thanks Jon :)
Love this VLOG Paul. I'm particularly inspired by the fact that you have no issues shooting during the middle of the day, in the harsh light. It's something I have been doing a lot recently, and I'm actually really enjoying it. Thanks for sharing mate!
I think there are shots to be had in most light conditions. Makes for a fun time :) Thanks Henry .
Nice work. This is some of the best seascape images I have seen in quite a while. Beautifully captured. Thanks for sharing.
Tony that's a very kind comment. I made the best of the conditions on the day but to be fair it's the location that made the shots and I can't wait to go back as it has so much more to offer. I could spend months there :)
That shot with the rainbow... beautiful and so much interest and detail.
Thanks Edward :)
Thanks for your kind reply and so very quick. I can see your very busy with so many people, comments, vlogs etc.
We are all getting so much from your great videos with the settings , tips , advice and humour.
Noticed your ape to camper van sweatshirt was soaked , must be tricky filming , getting into an odd position fighting the waves and getting the superb shot all at the same time. Does the Nikon still work underwater ? Brilliant vids.
Bobby John mate if I can’t be respectful enough to reply to kind people like yourself then it’s time to stop . The Nikon might not do so well under water 💧 😂
The early bird and all that, great images because you have an eye for the art of photography, brilliant stuff
Thanks Ian ,very kind :)
Fantastic images, love the moody black and white and the action shot of the waves crashing, great video, always a joy to watch
John
Thanks John . Very kind :)
This is the type of landscapes I love shooting as I live near the water. Another excellent video and drone shot.
Thanks Angelo :)
Well Paul ,you made me do it ! I always said I wouldn't join UA-cam but I felt I had to add my congratulations to the richly deserved ones you have already received for this video. So I have just joined tonight. I have been watching your vlogs for about 6 months now and have learned from and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. This vlog is superb and the images are incredible.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge and experience.
Cheers
Iain
Ha thanks for joining YT to comment . It is very much appreciated and you made my day :)
Brilliant Paul! I was there over 30 years ago with my young family, before coming to Canada, it is just as beautiful as I remembered! You did it proud mate!! Cheers.......Chris
Thanks Chris. Its one of those locations that is timeless :)
Love the affect of the 2.5 seconds, will have to give that a try. The joys of photography, nothing like hiking back to the car in wet trousers!
Thanks Alistair. That was a common thing on this trip :)
Thank you very much for an absolutely awesome episode! This was one of your best and you got lots of great photos to prove it! But what I enjoyed the most was to see how much you enjoyed it! Take care Paul and have a great weekend!
Thanks Jani :)
A fantastic video for sure. And the added drama of the situation with tide coming in, working out the best settings and composition against time...excellent! A brilliant set of images, capped off by 'the shot' at the end! 👍
Thanks buddy. Awesome comment. You put into words what I was feeling on the day :)
Lovely, lovely, lovely photographs Paul. Thanks for sharing. Greg
Thank you very much :)
Nice video Paul. Great use of time getting in an early morning shoot and being done by 9.30. You captured some great images, totally different to my style and i think that's why I love them. These videos are brilliant for seeing different perspectives of other photographers and you always convey your thoughts in an entertaining way. The fast shutter speed shot was great and worth getting in the sea for. My favourite is the the thumbnail shot. Its always satisfying when you nail the brief opportunities that the weather and light provide us.
Mate thanks for your insight and am honoured you take the time to comment :) The beauty of photography is we all have a camera but we see things in our own way . Cheers Adam
What a good morning you had, every shot is stunning and well worth getting your feet wet. I appreciated the longer look at the images in the recap part of the video.
Thank you Julie :)
Absolutely Stunning, as TH's T says. Of all the photo vlogs I watch, yours and e6 are the ones I look forward to most. All beautiful images, but the ones with the sea retreating round the foreground rocks stood out the most for me. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Greg. Very kind :)
Great shots Paul and a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
All the best....Peter.
Thanks Peter :)
Paul, thanks for sharing your morning experience and it's stunning results with so much simplicity and generosity. I live in the FrenchJura mountains (close to Switzerland), far from the sea, but you made me smell the salted water, hear the sound of crashing waves and feel the pleasure of making (not capturing) strong images.
Photographic cheers from France, jean
Thanks Jean. Im glad you got the atmosphere of the place :) Lovely location you live at .
Great images Paul, especially the one after the squall! Such an awesome part of the country.
Thanks Ollie . Kind as always :)
This is the best vlog yet Paul! The production is so professionally done now and the images are probably your best so far. Add the outstanding music and it makes for a wonderful piece of work, quite superb! Well done mate! 🍀👌
Thanks Andy. Very kind
Stunning Paul. I admire your self control of taking the shots you wanted and leaving. I'd be there shooting away all day! Great work.
Thanks Miguel :) I had to get back to the family but I will be back :)
Great set of images Paul, I really love the shot with the big rock in the foreground and the rainbow in the background.
Thanks Dave :)
Beautiful location and stunning images Paul. Cornwall is a beautiful magical place and you have managed to capture some of it in your images.
It's been a few year since I was last in Cornwall and you images make me yearn to go back real soon.
Awesome comment as always Mark. Thanks :)
I say it as it is Paul and it's deserved 👍🏻
Greetings Paul :) Thank you for taking me on an adventure into Cornwall to the cove of Kynance. I was allured almost instantly into your video by the great sound of music. It reminded me a little of Celtic. A nice accompaniment to a great introduction to capturing your amazing photographs.
Ha-ha... Piece of grass, fast, very. The things you do for a shot indeed. Well saved, well shot, well deserved. My favourite photograph was the one you shot at around 4.00. How I love dramatic skies, and beautiful rainbows. Peace.
Thanks and a great comment as always. As Tim Day says I always look forward to reading your words :)
Paul G Johnson
Thank you kindly for your complimentary reply. I did wonder if you would get the time in your busy schedule to write back so soon. I think you must have a secret store of super human power. Referring Tim, like yourself a very genuine gentleman with great photographic skills.
Thank you once again for sharing your wonderful video.
PS... Ha-ha, great caption on your cap.
Great images yet again Paul; the third one was the money shot for me. Love the subtle reference to Tom and his CDs ;-)
Ha thanks Paul. :)
Bloody hell Paul -stunned, to me you have even exceded your usual high standard! Absolutely fantastic set of images mate. If there was an award for vlog of the year -Id vote for this one! Brilliant vid and awesome pictures !
Very kind comment pal . Thank you :)
333 likes, 0 dislikes, 360 comments and I'm not sure I can add anything to what has already been said. Some great tips as well as the images, a simply wonderful video that was a real joy to watch from beginning to end. One of your best Paul, and your average is better than most people's best.
Lol give it time buddy :) Thanks as always Mark, great comment .
Wow! Fabulous images Paul. You must be very pleased with so many great images from one location - I know I would be.
Thanks buddy. The place has lots more to offer and I really want to spend a few days there to get the best from it :)
Beautiful location and great shots! The one with the 4 rocks in the foreground is just stunning! Well done!
Thanks Alex I'm glad you like that one :)
Paul G Johnson I like the others too, but that one I looove 🙂
Pure dedication to get into the water to get the shot you wanted
Stunning Cornwall, Love it.
Thanks Scott.
Very welcome mate :)
Absolutely magical paul beautiful place to go cracking images can't wait for next instalment
Thanks Andy :)
Fantastic shots Paul. I loved the monochrome shots and the shots when the squall came in. I'll put Kynance Cove on my list of places to visit. Thanks for another excellent video.
Thanks Steve. Glad you liked the place and the shots :)
Great video Paul and I'm going to use THAT word stunning images, good to see you making the ultimate sacrifice of wet feet to bring us these images LOL!!!😂😂😂. I always look forward to your videos they are very compelling and enjoyable.👍👍👍👍👍👍 looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Tim :)
Worth getting wet for that last shot, love the way you have frozen the water it shows the energy in the waves. Great stuff again Paul
Thanks Linda :)
Fantastic photos yet again Paul, thanks for sharing them with us.
Thanks Martin and it was a pleasure .
Love that place. Plenty of little smaller coves further up. The sea wouldn't have been playing ball, at that time.
Photography captures and enhances visual memories
Kynance is stunning and I am looking forward to exploring further :)
Wonderfully paced vlog again Paul - the rainbow shot would have been lovely even w/out the rainbow, but it helps bring it up to another level, the 2nd to last photograph was also quite nice. Thanks for sharing your artistry and experiences!
Thanks Alan. :)
What a place to take shots, love all the images, great location....thanks for showing them to us...martin
Thanks Martin. Kynance is stunning .
A great Vlog to watch on a rainy morning. Brilliant shots.
We have had a fair amount. Im just thinking of the poor folk in America at the moment too !
Great images Paul. One of those locations that has to go on the hit list. Your videos are inspiring.
Thanks Mick :)
A fantastic set of images, Paul. Kynance is a stunning place and now I really want to go back!
Thank you Sally :)
Beautiful. Especially love the square crop monochrome image.
That's my personal favourite and it looks awesome in print ;) I'm not comfortable with square crops either as it forces me to concentrate on a specific aspect . I am determined to do more .
Beautiful location, beautiful weather, beautiful shots - what can be better?
Thanks Mark. The place is stunning, looking forward to storm season in the location
As always - great images when you get around water.....nicely done. a great spot for future shoots!
Thanks Steve :)
What a place! Absolutely stunning!
Kynance Cove has to be the best place in Cornwall and most certainly my favourite. You could always superglue the CD's to the feet of your tripod Paul. Going home for a cup of tea must have been a long drive for you though. Oh, by the way, great video and stunning images, thanks for sharing.
Thanks buddy. Home was a caravan at Kennack ;) The superglue is tempting :)
Beautiful shots as always Paul. I really like the longer exposures with the moodiness of the sky. But the fast exposure was great as well.
Thanks Robert :)
One of your best videos to date Paul. Loved the location and all the shots worked a treat. Ditto to all of Adams comments 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Gary :)
Beautiful pictures Paul and beautiful pictures to match. Awesome.
Thanks Gerard.
Wonderful as usual Paul. Showing us how to to get wet for the cause.Happy shooting.
Thanks Nicky :)
More wonderful images Paul and Cornwall looks a great place to visit.
Thanks buddy :) It is a love county
Paul, what can I say that' s not already being said ... I love all of the images and this is great photography. I also like the drone parts of especially this vid. Thank you for sharing these moments with us. Peace.x. 😉
You are too kind Andrea, thank you :) Peace x
Worth waiting for, I am going to go back again so many compositions. Do need a low, low tide to access the area you finished up in. Great pictures too.
Thanks buddy. Have to watch the tide at Kynance :)
I have watched your vlogs, learning, laugh, been inspired, almost jumped up and down when I've seen the location you been at and the pic recaps. When there was people running by you in this one.. you looked a bit surprised. 'Like.. whaaat the fudge is going on'!? But still the "relaxed Paul" doing his stuff. Thumbs up! :)
Thanks , I was so engrossed in what I was doing that the people walking through the shot, shocked me a little ;)
Hey there Paul, my inspiration and highlight of the week. Stunning images, stunning , stunning. Love the image of the water caressing a rock in the foreground while we are reminded of the power of the sea in the background smashing against the rocks, marvellous. Right, where's my camera bag,,,,,, Peace
Thanks Peter . Peace x
Another excellent VLOG Paul. Your drone footage really adds another dramatic dimension to your work. All the images are fantastic but the last shot is outstanding - well worth getting your feet wet for. Hope the Nikon was ok !! Thanks, as always, for sharing Paul.
Kind as always Tim. Thanks buddy
Paul, I've been excitingly waiting for the next Cornwall vlog since the first one and you didnt disappoint, it was so inspiring. It was also great to see your take your filters off , that image was brilliant. Keep up the good work. Cheers Mike.
Thanks Mike :)
Stunning shots and magic place, excellent Paul!!!!
Thanks very much
Paul, absolutely some of the best photos yet!! You are amazing!
Thank you buddy :)
I'm loving those shots as much as everyone else but, I've also got to compliment you on the slo-mo drone footage at the beginning. Nice work Paul 👌 😉
Thanks buddy :)
Cornwall is in my top 3 places after Yorkshire and The Highlands. There are so many places that offer great photography opportunities down there. Excellent video Paul and great results.
Cornwall is a stunning county and your top 3 are well deserved :)
I'd forgotten how beautiful the Cornish coast is. Lovely images Paul, thank you. Liked and subbed!
Trevor . Many thanks for the sub, I don't get many these days :)
I guess being a photography vlogger is a bit like being an undiscovered gem of a landscape, it takes a bit of good fortune to find. Now yet another summer is over (where does the time go?) I'm sure the subs will pick up again Paul. All the best mate.
Great use of that fantastic Cornish light, paddling photography well worth the effort, great final image
Thanks Darren :)
Another fantastic video Paul. It's always worth getting your feet wet for a great shot just like yours 🌈🌈
Going to visit Cornwall with my new wife of 4 weeks later this year 👰🏼, so will try and get to Kynance Cove and other great places to photograph.
Keep the vids coming and look after yourself.
Peace x
Thanks Andy :)
beautiful images and a lovely video Paul - thanks for taking me there; keep up the great work
Thanks David :)
Great series of seascapes, what a wonderful location
Thank you. Very kind :)
Really enjoyed this vlog!
Hard to pick a favourite photo though, as they all have a mesmerising painted feel to them. That last shot is one of those times it was worth sacrificing dry feet for!
Thanks Jack.Glad you enjoyed it buddy.
Paul, another great video. Look forward to the next especially if it's a seascape.
Thanks Tony. Next one is a seascape and more wet feet :)
Some great shots there. Good work and love the Fat Willie's Surf Shack cap circa 1992.
I like that cap :)
Me too. I've looked for a t-shirt for many a year but there are none to be found.
What a magical place you found Paul. Great video and superb pictures especially the last one 👍
It is a stunning awesome place Ian :) My wife loves the last one, it's her fave :)
Pauly G,
An exemplary effort. You really worked the location to great advantage, producing wonderful, evocative images. The bonus rainbow is brilliant! This vlog and a samovar of Sumatran coffee have kicked off my Sunday morning in a fine fashion.
Oh, and BTW, go Titans!
Thank-You,
Mike
Great comment , thanks buddy :)
Shorelines and cliffs anywhere in Cornwall are stunning these fantastic shots are of one of those areas. I do like the image showing movement in the sea and waves slightly more than the smooth milky sea shots. Great vlog and images 💪.
Hey thanks buddy
Cheers Paul. Top video. Top shots and another location on the bucket list :-) Especially liked the last image . . . powerful.
Thanks Rob . Kynance is lovely :)
Good stuff Paul. As always I am envious (in a good way). Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank Dennis
Paul, another set of great shots. Particularly like the last freeze shot! I've recently added Lynne Luxon-Jones to my list of must-watch landscape photographers. Take a look at her "2 days of long exposures, seascapes and a windmill". She is using, and highly recommends, snow shoes (feet), which you can see on her tripod in the video. A step-up from the set of 3 old CD's!
Lynne is a great photographer and I need to catch up on her blogs :)
Beautiful, just beautiful images. great job Paul.
Thanks Edward, very kind :)
Spectacular Photos Paul. Amazing!!!! Again another fantastic video
Thanks Andy :)
Yet another fantastic episode Paul. Amazing shots. And nice to see an artist getting soggy for his art.✌️
Watch next week , it gets worse :)
What lovely compositions Paul. I'm sure not an easy shoot but it did look exciting and fun. Your face when that couple turned up LOL. I truly do look forwards to you vBlogs always an inspiration x
Ha thanks Shaun :)
Another very nice video i love your laidback style of filming coupled with humor and you captured some great images
as well, keep up the good work Paul.
Thanks Eddie :)
Beautiful shots Paul, love the sense of movement in the water, just the sort of thing I like!! Seeing this makes me miss the coastal landscape of the UK. And so much luck with that rainbow, all the past little problems paid back, karma:)
The rainbow was a freak :) Thanks buddy ..
The shot with the rainbow and splash at the end where you had to go in the water are my fave.
That guy with beared appeared from no where. He looked a little bit like Game of Thrones character. For a moment I thought he, Tormund, was a guest star hehe.
Lovely location. Thank you for sharing. My son has been asking me about your camper van ... He now wants to know when am I buying it. 😊
LOL your son has good taste. :)
Absolutely stunning location. Well done. Must be amazing when it is overcast and stormy 😉
I want to go back in storm season :)
Excellent video again mate. You're always entertaining, and so enthusiastic - even when your feet are wet 😊 And what a beautiful location. Can't fall to be inspired in such a place. Great stuff 😊
Thanks . Kynance is stunning.
Great images..especially the one with the rainbow. First time I watched one of your videos as it was recommended to me and I really enjoyed it. 👍
Jana Hounsell thank you Jana . Very kind 👍
Thanks for the video Paul, you are always so much fun to watch!
Thanks Stephane :)
Paul, great great video and compliments the last one by having close up shots of the coastline. The colour and detail was amazing. So glad the hotel here in Espania has wifi, would hate to have missed this from one my favourite bloggers.
Thanks for watching in Spain buddy :)
Another great video Paul keep them coming always look forward to watching them.
Thanks Brian :)
Another great vid Paul and all done by 9.30 amazing. Super images love em..
Thanks Colin. It was just starting to get busy at 9.30 :)
Fun video as always Paul, your a braver man than me almost waist deep in the sea with a camera. lovely images. I have not been to cornwall for years, butloved the trip we did, all those great little coves and villages. Great stuff. john
Thanks John. I love getting in to the sea and try to keep a tight hold of the kit :)
Some of your best images to date Paul, in my humble opinion.
Very kind Steve. I'm getting used to shooting and videoing . The latter is now taking less priority than the shots. As it should be
Stunning images Paul, last time I was at Kynance Cove, was after walking from Mullion cove and before Digital was invented, and was to afraid to get the camera wet and do what you did on this shoot, thoroughly enjoyed watching this, you have made my Sunday morning.
Thanks Kelvin. Very kind :)
awesome images, Paul - I really enjoyed watching this vlog. Kynance Cove is truly beautiful - not been there for a few years now. Your seascapes really are inspirational......exactly the kind of images I wish I had taken. Thanks for another great vlog.
Thanks Robert . Kind words .:)
Nice one Paul - I'm a Lancashire lad but have been living in Cornwall the past 10 years - glad you enjoyed your Kynance trip - up the clarets!
Ha thanks buddy, i'll pass on your regards to the lads on friday :)
Really like seaskapes with such dramatic sky! Wish I had the coast near by...
Nice images, great vidz, I really enjoy them.....keep on! Peace
Thanks Adi. Kind words. Peace x
Oh wow! Fantastic images & great video Paul. The clouds & light were changing all the time which made for such incredible shots. And what a location! I've never been to Kynance Cove , but it's now on my to do list! It's breathtaking.
:)
It's a stunning place Debbie. Thanks :)
You've definitely stepped it up a notch with these squire
Thanks Jamie. Not hard to get an image at Kynance though.
Beautiful. Awesome. Stunning.
Probably your best yet. The video quality was amazing. It was almost like being on the beach with you.
The pictures - sorry, at this point insert the 'f' word and add any superlative; gorgeous, dream-like, luscious or just settle on beautiful.
Tremendous.
Thank you.
Thanks Paul :)
Paul thank you thank you for doing our wonderful county proud your images were simply outstanding ,peace dude
Cheers buddy. Your wonderful county should make you proud :)
